We stayed here over the Easter weekend with two toddlers (aged 2 and 3). The hotel is very smart and chic, with a spacious underground car park (€9 per day). Our room was very large with two rooms and a balcony. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. There was an outdoor pool, which we didn't have a chance to use. The pool was un-heated, so was probably too cold for the time of year anyway. Forget about driving into Granada! We took a taxi one day to visit a friend who lived in the city and it took ages due to the one way system. Basically, the streets are too narrow to accommodate cars. There is a number 13 bus that is 2 minutes walk from the Hotel. This takes you directly to the Alhambra.

Everything was perfect. Hotel was very clean and maintained. Hotel stuff like decoration, beds etc. was very new. it is very close to Alhambra historical place.

Close to L'Alhambra if you are driving, A bit deserted in the surroundings, looking out to a abandoned building. Nice minimalistic design. Nice Entrance, efficient workers. Can use a large LCD TV though and reception of some channels and phone reception in the room can be scattered and poor.

The wifi dropped out constantly and the password was required each time to relog in, and even then mostly didn't work.If you require certainty of wifi and a reasonable broadband width, the only option is to use the hotel-provided computer in the lobby, which is unrealistic when one is trying to communicate via email to another time zone, ie in the middle of the night. Otherwise, the hotel was modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast at an extra cost, was great.

Very nice hotel. My husband was thrilled with the great bus service right in front of the hotel. We stayed three nights, and never used the car at all.

Well situated on the road from Granada to Sierra Nevada. Breakfast reasonably nice but hot food was lukewarm at best. Fresh friuit was lovely. terribly modern and clean cut hotel. Only problem was that the bar was soulless and would not encourage a group to sit down and have a drink. However, 40 yards down to the left of the hotel is a lovely little bar/restaurant with an open fire. The food here is also lovely. Not cheap but really good quality in a lovely setting.

Excellent hotel. Great location with easy access to public transportation to downtown or to the Alhambra. There were limited restaurants in the immediate area outside the hotel, but easy to go downtown on the bus. The breakfast in the hotel dining room was wonderful -- though not included with the room. Would easily go there again the next time we are in Granada.

The Hotel Macia de la Alhambra in Granada is very comfortable with a friendly, extremely helpful staff. The buffet breakfast was great with both hot and cold selections. Although it requires a 1.20 euro bus ride into the city center (bus stop right outside hotel) this was not inconvenient and we chose this hotel for it's convenient location near the autovia. A short bus ride into the city center left us centrally located to the sights while the hotel itself left us with an extremely easy off - easy on access to the Madrid - Gibraltar autovia. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. There is also a Hotel Macia located in the city center for those who don't mind the hassle of city traffic.

I was very dis-satisfied with the customer service of this hotel. It is about a 15 minute busride out of town. One of the reasons I booked it was for it's free shuttle. When we arrived, I was informed that they have discontinued the shuttle and we had to take public buses back and forth at additional expense, time, and discomfort (when traveling with luggage). Then, we checked into our tiny room, which was very hot and uncomfortable. The tiny window would only open a few inches, and the a/c wouldn't come on. When we told hotel services about this, we were informed that the a/c had been turned off for the season. We were told that if we wanted our window to open further, we would have to call maintance every time to have someone sent up to open it. We finally transferred to a room with a patio and sliding door which opened fully. But instead of accommodating us, we were charged an extra 10 euros a night, and pressured to make a quick decision. I felt like this hotel was full of false advertising (a/c and shuttle) and were big on nickel and dimeing us to heavily. I would not recommend it.

Well-maintained hotel, excellent breakfast, very close to al-Hambra (2 minutes drive) and not far away from downtown. Take a bus for 1.2 euro for 10 minutes ride or taxi for 7 euro. Big rooms and the bathroom modern and wide. Highly recommended unless you want to stay in the busy and crowded city.

The hotel is really nice and the service was amazing, though sometimes there was only 1 person at the front desk who spoke, so if they were busy it just took a little longer. We were only staying 1 night, in order to see the Alhambra the next day. The bathrooms were great and the beds were comfortable. I think it was just our room, but the heat would not turn off and it was warm even though the thermostat was set to cool. So, we had to open a window to keep the room a reasonable temperature. Also, while in the grand scheme of Granada, it is relatively close to the Alhambra, it is not quite within walking distance - the front desk recommended a taxi. If that's really important to you, you may want something a bit closer. As for getting around town, there is a city bus (#33) that stops about 50 meters from the hotel and is really easy to travel to the Cathedral and other areas of Granada.

Excellent, modern hotel. Close to autovia with easy bus access to centre of Granada. Close to Alhambra palace and near the ski slopes too. Hotel was quiet, staff were very helpful. We had a lovely suite with terrace to enjoy the late season sun.... Would highly recommend for short break. Only stayed one night - wish it could have been longer. I'm we'll be back sometime.

Stayed at this hotel so I could be close to Granada main attraction. Only problem is that it's a 30 euros cab fare to get there from the airport. Upon arrival the guy behind the desk said "just take the number 33 bus next time" which would have only cost 1.20 euro from the town centre and it's a 3 euro bus from The airport to the city centre. All this showed have been explained on the website to make it convent for customers coming from the airport who have to rely on public transport. The hotel is clean, cheap and does the job. But next time if i was to visit Granada I wouldn't stay here to far out of town.

We booked this hotel after much deliberation. The Navigation system doesn't work for this hotel. It is the one on the Rotonda, but the GPS won't have it listed. The hotel says all the GPS devices get it wrong, so we weren't alone. The hotel staff was Superb, I give them a 5. The Hotel was clean and new and very nice spacious rooms. The location was good if you had a car, but the GPS leaves a lot to be desired, which made the getting back to the Hotel interesting at first, but quite easy after we learned the way. I would stay in this hotel again in Granada, and I would definitely recommend it to others.

Hotel Macia Real del Alhambra is quite the find. I went there cause of reviews here on Hotel.com. It is clean, comfy with a pool and lovely lounge area. The food at the bar is pretty good, never tried the restaurant except for breakfast (which is extensive and varied). The huge bonus is the Arabic Baths...a must for anyone interested in a little pampering. Very reasonable and very professional. The only downsides are 1) that the hotel is a little out of town, but the bus is right outside the hotel and very frequent. You can buy a CrediBus card for 2 euros and top it up with credit, this is the cheapest way to travel. Bus stops at 11 so after that it is taxis only. 2) the pool is kinda small and when the hotel is full it gets very busy. 3) almost no tv in English, so if that's your way to relax, bring your computer. 4) wifi was on the fritz when I was there. It's a great hotel, the staff are lovely. bon voyage! Clare

This is a beautiful hotel, very sleek and modern. Although the hotel is a bit out of the main part of town, it is 1/2 block away from 2 bus stops ( one takes you directly to the center of town and the other to the Alhambra) so the location is quieter than staying in the center of the city. It was a perfect location for us. We even caught the bus in front of our hotel to go directly to the bus station for the next leg of our trip. There is a lovely pool and a spa and a trendy bar. We did not try the spa, but the entire hotel was very classy. The hotel staff was helpful and did not laugh at our feeble Spanish. The only complaint I had was the impossibility of getting on the internet. They said there was wireless internet in the room, and so there was - at 6:00 am in the morning! The hotel must not have enough bandwith for everyone who wants to use it, because I was frustrated beyond belief at the difficulties trying to get to the internet. During most of the day it was nearly impossible, but early in the morning when no one else was using it, I had no problem. I recommend this hotel highly, unless you need to use the internet. The other hotel services were fine.

This hotel was very modern, clean, there was a wedding the day we arrived and none of the usual hotel services were available. We were totally overlooked.., no concierge services, all requests from us for assistance with tours, getting around the city were very cooly received, I was not comfortable with the services from the restaurant, I think the staff were rude at times...

Easy to find. Convenient local bus service into and out of city. Plenty of off road parking. Ideal location away from the busy city streets.

The relation quality-price is quite good. The hotel is very modern and clean and it has many facilities. The staff is kind and helpful. A priori, we were worried about the location but if you have car the location is great. It's quite close to La Alhambra and also is quite easy to reach the downtown area (Av. Reyes Catolicos). Also, it's a great place for families.

As Granada is hard to access via car due to parking, the location works great as they have a parking garage and the bus line if just out the front door. WOuld recommend for accessing Granada

The Hotel position really good for the motorist, with easy access for trips to surrounding areas such as the Sierra Nevada Mountains or the coast. Offers secure parking . Also bus from outside hotel to City Centre takes only 10 minutes max. Hotel was very clean and service exceptionally friendly and hospitable (with the exception of a female receptionist ! ) The breakfast buffet was delicious with a plentiful array of cooked and fresh foods - fruit , eggs, cold meats , cheese, pastries and an excellent olive oil for drizzling on toast and hot rolls . We used the Spa services which were really relaxing and envigorating - worth a look downstairs just for the decor and atmosphere alone . One thought however, out of high season use of the swimming pool was unavailable, despite the weather being hot , which was disappointing and we should have been informed prior to our stay .

Totally reccomend this hotel-quality and service. At this price you could not get better value anywhere else. No wonder it has been voted one of the top hotels in Spain.

We are Americans living in Spain and were very impressed with this hotel! The people @ reception were welcoming and spoke great English. This hotel is right off the highway and on the outskirts of Granada--we just took taxis for convenience to get into the city. Their is a city bus that takes you to the Alhambra about 100 yards from the hotel. Their free breakfast was fine, good selection and not busy until about 9am. We've stayed in lots of hotels in Europe and we thought this was one of the best!!!

Hotel is well placed by the Ronda Sur and well served by the 33 Bus and the Tour Bus. We were very pleased with the locked underground parking. 33 bus to town gave an excellent service and the tour bus stopped 100 meters away. Our only negative issue with this hotel was the supply of hot water. On the first day we reported the water as just warm enough for a quick shower in the evening. On the second day it was the same and on the third morning there was no hot water at all. This fault could have been rectified sooner if our first report had been acted upon.

We travelled by car from Seville to Granada and chose this hotel for its proximity to the Alhambra which is a must see. This was by far the best value for money hotel we had booked through hotels.com for our 4 days in Andalucia. I was pleasantly surprised by the aesthetics of the hotel, its friendly staff and available facilities. Rooms were well furnished and modern looking and clean. There were lounge areas for hotel guests, generally spacious but the pool area was small and a bit crowded for our liking. The room came with breakfast and there was a good spread. It was easy to get to the centre of the city from the hotel and parking spaces on the side streets next to the hotel was easier to find than I expected, though it was usually packed since the hotel was next to a residential area. Guest parking within the hotel premises cost €14 per day but as long as no valuables are retained in the vehicle, it should be safe to park on the side streets. All in all, a very pleasant hotel and I would definitely recommend or go back for another stay when I visit Granada again. As mentioned, I thought it was the best value for money hotel I stayed in during my entire holiday in Andalucia.

It's out of the way from the action, but is a cheap cab fare away. Room is superb. There was a fee for parking but it was great to have it since we were traveling by car. This was our second time to stay at the hotel. We'd recommend it!

MACIA REAL IS AN EXCELLENT HOTEL AT EXCELLENT LOCATION.IT'S BETWEEN ALAMBRA,THE DOWNTOWN AND SIERRA NEVADA

This the third time we have stayed in this hotel. Everything about this hotel is perfect. Yes it is on the outskirts of Granada but there is a buss just outside the hotel that is every ten minuets so in our opinion it is the best . The staff are very helpful and it is good value for money.

The Hotel was fantastic with the exception of a bland breakfast buffet and the fact that a bus or taxi is needed to get anywhere worthwhile. Transportation is very convenient however.

The hotel was in very good condition and the staff helpful. I'd definately recommend the hotel for international travelers. There are no resturants or grocery stores within several blocks so we chose to spend 10 euro/pp for the buffet breakfast. A little expensive but a very good meal which allowed us to skip lunch. From near the train station, or anywhere in the city, take the 33 bus right to the hotel. A 13 bus also runs on the hotel street up to Alhambra. Once you know this its not a difficult commute. Enjoy....we certainly did.

Great hotel for the price. Location is great as buses pass by every 10/20 mins and journey is fast into town or to the Alhambra. But GPS lost the location so beware of this. Breakfast is very good especially when the weather is fine for sitting out on the terrace.

This hotel is very modern, spacious and airy, and I was very taken with it. We were upgraded for free to a room on the second floor with a terrace with sun loungers, two tables and a chair. Although pleasant, this terrace faced the front of the hotel, a busy roundabout and the Granada Ring Road, so not a fantastic outlook. Be aware of where this hotel is before you commit to it. It is not in the centre, it is on the outskirts of the city, ideal if you want ease of access from the Autovias, not so good when it comes to finding somewhere to eat locally, as my wife and I discovered. There is just one bar within walking distance if you are on a room only rate and object to the price of dining in the hotel. This bar (I would prefer not to name it) is very tired looking, dirty inside, and only serves a limited number of snacks and tapas, and beer and wine. Granada is a five minute drive, but parking in the evening is very difficult. If you want a stroll before dinner, the hotel is situated in a run down area east and south of the city centre, comprising mainly of large blocks of empty apartments, there was barely a person around. The road leading to Granada only has a pavement has a pavement part of it's length, but there are buses running regularly during the day to take you in Granada. It is a long walk back though as we discovered, having missed the last bus. Overall, I thought the hotel was really nice, I felt a little disappointed such a hotel is located in this type of area, but I appreciated the ease of reaching the hotel without having to take to the city centre, being relatively new to driving abroad. On our second day in the city we left the hire car in a parking garage, and parking in the city seemed very cheap, even for a garage in the centre of the city. The hotel rooms are very comfortable and very clean, and have everything you could ever want. There is a nice looking pool on the first floor outside which we did not get time to try. Could not have made a better selection. Only a few minutes by public transportation (bus) from Alhambra. Hotel newly decorated, modern, beautifully furnished, great staff. Breakfast buffet was excellent. Train station about 15 minutes away, airport a little further out. Best value we experienced during our 12 days in Spain. Although slightly out of town, not a problem since bus stops in front of hotel. About 10 minute ride to center of town. If you are planning to come to Granada, see Alhambra, this is by far best place to stay. You can reserve your tickets to Alhambra online, spend the morning and early afternoon there, then visit downtown, see the sunset, have dinner and leave. Basically one full day is sufficient in Granada.

The room and service at the hotel were fantastic. The location is great if you are driving because it is right on the main circle off the highway. It was a short drive to La Alhambra and a short bus ride to the main attractions in the center of the city. They had parking available, but we just parked in the street around the corner for free.

Large, comfortable room. Very clean and modern. Staff polite and informative.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Macia Real de LA Alhambra, primarily to go visit the LA Alhambra. The hotel is a bit away from the city, so one would need to drive into the city and do pay parking to visit it. The hotel recommends a tour of the La Alhambra where a bus picks you up at the hotel a tour is given in English, German,etc. then you are brought back to the hotel about 3 hours later. This beats waiting in lines and gives you informative information regarding the history of the La Alhambra. It was good. The hotel's air conditioning needs improvement, our room was warmer then we like, they tried to help but it was at max output. The breakfast was good, the bar food way, way, to much mayonnaise.

Stayed for a week - yes, the location is very limited compared to city centre hotels, being on the outskirts of town with only a couple of cafes/bars and one restaurant in the immedaite locality. However, there is an excellent bus service running from early in the morning until 11 pm at night, every 6/7 minutes during the week - 20/30 minutes at weekends - journey into city centre about 5 minutes and 1.20 euros each journey. Bus stop short distance from hotel. The hotel was wonderfully quiet, furnished to a high standard of modern style. Don't expect wonderful views or balconies, but Granada is not really a destination for spending lots of time in your room. Breakfast selection was functional and covered a wide range of continental tastes, from eggs and bacon (not English style!), to cooked meats, fruit, bread etc. Whilst it may appear expensive at 10 euros per head, this works out cheaper than a similar selection in the city. Personal taste dictated a preference for having breakfast in one of the city squares. Didn't have dinner in the hotel, but the menu looked good value, again compared with city prices. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to this hotel as the compromise of city centre location was more than compensated by the style, quietness and overall enjoyment of the hotel and of course the added bonus of the swimming pool - only small and situated outside, but nice to have the option to swim. The hotel staff were helpful and well organized.
