The hotel is older and you can tell attempts have been made to modernize and the limited number of rooms is not overwhelming. The reviews about no sound proofing were dead on. The only way to dampen the noise from the busy road and the neighboring room was to run the heat or ac full blast, close the room darkening shades, and turn the TV on 7 all night. Ask for a room away from the road and away from other guests for a quiet night. It is clean, and staff is friendly, just needs sound proofing.

The hotel seemed airless and somewhat musty despite a lovely setting on the river. Could be remedied by just opening some doors and windows, I expect. Room was modest, unexceptional. Nice view over the river (though that also meant goose noise in the early morning). I managed to get to the pleasant terrace overlooking the river but sort of had to poke around to figure out how to access it...Breakfast not much - passable. Quite convenient to Vassar - we were college visiting.

We loved this hotel -- it is not on the main drag (Route 9) in Poughkeepsie, which was fine with us! It was VERY clean, quiet, nice staff, great breakfast. Because it is off the beaten path, it was not very crowded. We stopped to see friends who were staying at the Holiday Inn Express and the place was PACKED. Couldn't even get a seat in the breakfast room for all the people. The Best Western is where we will stay EVERY time we come visit our daughter at the CIA!

Very nice location and physical amenities. Had an issue with shower temperature (could set too hot or too cold but not in between). Also, some noise from nearby guests due to thin walls, but that is pretty common for hotels. Nice breakfast, but coffee production could not keep up with demand.

It was unpleasant. The walls between rooms are extremely thin and the guests next to me kept me awake until 2:30 a.m. I didn't complain because they were not doing anything out of the ordinary, just normal social activity. The hotel was almost empty, yet they clustered guests in adjacent rooms. Given the poor acoustical separation between rooms, which they surely know about, they should make EVERY effort to spread guest out unless they are fully booked.

I stayed for 3 nights at this hotel while visiting the Culinary Institute of America. The staff were very helpful and nice. The hotel was a bit of a drive to the Culinary Institute but it is an easy one and the setting of the hotel is very peaceful. The walls are not totally soundproof but in general it is very quiet at the hotel. The room was very clean and had all the necessary amenities with a nice view!

Hotel set next to a lovely creek which our room looked out upoon. We only needed to stay one night on our way after work from Philadelphia to Montreal and it was easily accessible by highway. Room was clean and nice with no problems. Good breakfast area with free breakfast in am including make your own waffles, cereal, bagels, juices, coffees, pastries/muffins. This was exactly what we were looking for.

Our stay at the hotel was very comfortable. Although we didn't get the type of room that was told of us, we were pleased with the room. What we were not please with, is that our sheets were not changed, and one day housekeeping did not come and clean the room. I would stay at this hotel again, because it was clean and the workers there were pleasent.

My only issue with my stay was the lack of hot water for my morning shower.

With the river besides, that made our stay more enjoyable. I like to room and window facing the river.

The hotel is adorable! The exterior looks like a woodsy chalet and the interior is modern but welcoming. Well decorated and designed and quiet comfy. It was very clean and everything was fresh. The continental breakfast spread was good, great view of the stream outside, but... the coffee was horrible. I'm sure the next pot tasted much better but I wasn't able to stick around to taste it.

Internet was down for the night :(

The room was amazing,i got the king suite with jet tub for my fiance for valentines day. the locations is very nice next to the creek and away from busy traffic areas.Great romantic get away!

I chose the hotel randomly because it wasn't too cheap but wasn't too expensive. I did not expect to end up beside a creek in a lovely, quiet location off the beaten path. It was excellent--way beyond my expectations. And the breakfast was outstanding. I expected the usual "continental" breakfast, but was delighted with the availability of real food.

Pleasant staff, modern rooms, very well kept.

Clean, reasonably well maintained, and fairly reasonably priced. Convenient to FDR Hyde Park house and CIA campus. Good place for an overnight stay while sightseeing.

The room was clean, but the front desk attendant was very rude. Also, there was NO HOT WATER for showering at 7am.

Lovely location -- be sure to get a view of the river (not the parking lot.) Slept through the breakfast so can't comment on that but the room/suite was comfortable and we loved the giant jacuzzi tub.

The hotel is old and in need of a make-over. They obviously tried to paint over old wood (doors and trim) but it is a dismal mess. The lobby isn't inviting. The breakfast room is nice (over looks the creek - no river here!) but the breakfast - better to bring in some McDonald's. The first room they gave me had severe staining in the ceiling. After the one person on duty came and inspected, we were moved to another room. But, it still gave me the willies. I did not sleep at all. To be fair, the carpet did look fairly new. But, the walls had streaks. The shower was a trickle. And the elevator looked like it had been through a fire. Needless to say, we spent our second night down the road on Route 9 at the Courtyard by Marriott. Much more pleansant stay and better location for all the area attractions.

Friendly staff and a decent breakfast with a clean and comfortable room. Recommended

We were upgraded to a nice suite!

Not good. Noise from contingent room prevented a good night sleep.Rooms need upgrading

It took about 8 minutes to drive to Vassar. Quiet location near small river. Very clean and convenient for families on move in or visiting days at Vassar College.

I will probably never stay in a best western hotel again - the room was suppose to have 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa - there was no sleeper sofa and they were sold out so we couldn't have another room. the room itself was so small that you tripped over everything trying to walk around. Only 2 bath towels for 4 people staying in the room. Very cheesy and not good quality at all - very disappointed and I will call hotels.com and express my disappointment as well.

This is a wonderful hotel, in an excellent location for activities around the Poughkeepsie area. The only problem was that the elevator was not functioning in the night of our stay. The desk clerk helped with our luggage, but it would be best to call if that is a concern.

Stayed there while touring Marist College. Very clean room/bathroom. It was a 85d day in April and I don't think there AC was ready for it in the common areas, but the rooms were fine. Decent breakfast, well maintained hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Stayed on our college tour. Clean hotel. Nice view. Good breakfast included with self service waffle maker which my teenager enjoyed.

The hotel itself is very clean and nicely maintained. The evening that I stayed however, they were experiencing problems with the heat. Thankfully the heat in the room was functioning, as it was a cold winter evening, however there was no hot water in the morning and I was unable to take a shower. The rest of the hotel outside of the room was very cold and I didn't stay for the breakfast offered because it was just too cold to sit and eat there. Overall, with the exception of the heat issue, the hotel was nice and I would probably give it a second chance.

Coming back home to visit after years being away, I was looking forward to staying here due to recent renovation and convenient location within minutes from my family. All other hotels are located further out in Poughkeepsie/Fishkill. The place is still a little tired inside, comfortable but nothing fancy. The first room we were in was not clean - dirty toilet, missing amenities, unclean sheets which we discovered after settling in. We were switched to another room, which was fine. They need to tighten up housekeeping to ensure cleanliness.

Up for the weekend to visit my niece at Vasar College. We had a newly renovated room with 2 queen sized beds. It was lovely! Sorry we only stayed one night

This hotel is soooooo lovely! The staff was fantastic and all our needs met. Breakfast, exercise etc. but the scenery! Holy smokes! I am so sorry I didn't know about this hotel in time to book a trip in May (it's sold out) A real find. I admit, unexpected for my pre-conceived notions of "Best Western". Fantastic.

I stayed here 20 years ago - its been updated and the staff is very friendly and offer a high service. Its clean and a nice place to stay in a town where there are few nice hotels.

On the mornng of our departure, we were unable to get hot water at the sink. After discovering that there was hot water to the tub, we turned on the sink faucet and then there was hot water. We when we turned off he water at the tub, once again there wasn't any hot water at the sink. Other than this problem the room and the hotel were fine, very clean and well appointed.
