Hotel Galatea - روما

I was in galatea with my girlfriend at the beginning of April. We didn't expect much, but were surprised and impressed how nice and helpful the staff are, how clean is the room, awsome bathroom, very comfortable bad. The breakfast was also good. The staff even helped us use their wireless modem for internet. The only issue is that you have to climb 3 floors in order to get to the hotel. We didn't mind about it, but some might find it an issue. Technically there is an alavator, it just doesn't work mostly. The location is great - 15-20 mins walking distance to the main piazza's, and buses to all of them stop right outside the hotel. The price was also pretty good, comparing to the other alternatives we had. To sum up - a perfect place, if you are willing to climb 3 floors every time you get back to the room. I think it's completely worth it.

I had a great stay at Hotel Galatea. Friendly staff, the hotel was in the perfect location for were I needed to stay & the wifi was fast (in the lobby only). My room was very clean and had everything I needed. I will be staying again next time I need to stay in the center of Rome!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Reception all speak good English. Very clean hotel, with the rooms cleaned wonderfully daily. Bathroom is outstanding. Breakfast is good, with a moderate choice. Must see sights all within easy walking distance. Only possible improvement would be an English speaking satellite TV channel available in the room, as MTV was the only English one you can get.

Guest 1: The bed was way too hard - like a slab of cement - and the elevator did not work very well at all times. Apart from that I thought it was great value for money! Guest 2: The best thing about this hotel was the location, the restaurant EST EST EST was a real gem and it is just a few feet away from the hotel. The bed was too hard but the breakfast was decent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I was satisfied with the overall value.

We stayed here for 3 nights while on our honeymoon in Oct 2011. The one major complaint we had was about the bed. It was by far the HARDEST bed we've ever slept on in our entire life. They might as well of had us sleep on a sheet of bricks. Our backs hurt for a couple of days while in Rome. All they could give us were a couple of blankets to pad it but it didn't help much. Also, the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke constantly (which we smelled everywhere in Italy anyway so we were getting used to it). The staff was very friendly and the hotel had nice decor and had modern upgrades. Breakfast was simply croissants, cereal and juice ...just know it's not a buffet at all but it was still a nice touch to have a snack in the morning before we headed out. All in all it was good but just expect a VERY HARD uncomfortable bed and smoke filled halls.

the location for the hotel is great. all the attractions are walking distance. the street it is on is off of a main street so walking home at nights was not a problem. it also made the hotel easy to find. the staff was great. they were very helpful answering questions about sightseeing, they even got us our reservation for the galleria borghese when we asked them. great experience overall.

A very good hotel which I will recommend to anyone.

We will definantly stay at this hotel again. You can walk from the termini (central station) and walk to the major sites of Rome (fontana de trevi etc). The breakfast buffe is very fresh and offers a simple continenatal breakfast. Outside the entrace of the hotel is a classic italian cafe with wonderful coffee. The hotel building is situated so that the rooms windows open on to the court yard - so it is very quiet and you are not disturbed by morning traffic. Very surprised this hotel has only 2 stars - we traveled all over Europe staying at 3 and 4 star hotels that were poorly maintained and dirty. This is a perfect hotel if you want to discover Rome while staying in a clean, comfortable and well run hotel.

It is farther from the metro than it seems on the map, about 7-8 blocks, instead of 4 seems on the map. NO INTERNET!! What kind of "hotels" not have ineternet?? Even hostiles do. Worst breakfast. The phone in my room looks like a toy phone, with no keypads (??) so I can't even dial front desk. TV works when it feels like it & turns off by itself. The channel up/down works for 2 seconds only. The night staff can't fix it & doesn't know why the phone has no keypads (numbers). Location is good. If you are only looking for a bed & shower then this place is ok. If you look to relax & be connected then don't. Elevator only works if other people remembered to close ALL doors, otherwise you are screwed. I waited for 10 min when I arrived. This hotel is worth only half of what the charge. Pictures are deceiving.

very clean hotel, modern style and in very good location! good breakfast (but only sweets). the only bad thing is the building: it's very old as the most buildings in the centre of Rome.

We stayed at the 4 nights and all in all it was great. The hotel served its purpose well, as the resting place between all the sightseeing. It has a great location, a quiet street rignt in the middle. The service was kind and the room was clean. All that for a very fair price. We will definitely recommend this hotel to our friends, and if we will return to Rome we will consider to stay there again.

The Hotel Galatea surely isn't a ritzy, deluxe accomodation, but it definitely does the trick if you're looking for a nice, clean room, all the necessary amenities, air conditioning and an undeniably perfect location. When you first encounter the front door, it's actually a bit off-putting. The hotel is located within a courtyard, beyond a door from the street that leads to a non-descript alley. You then go up 3 floors to find the real entrance to the hotel. But once through its actual doors, it's really quite normal, cozy and enjoyable.

Hotel is a short to moderate walk from main Rome Train Station in the historical section. Walking distance to Trevi fountain and other sites. Multiple excellent food choices nearby as well as tour bus stops. Room was fair sized. Bed was very hard firm / cheap mattress but ok. Limited external light into room with no views (good place to sleep but not a good room to lounge around, need to get out and see city!). Bathroom was a 4 Star Hotel quality! Very nice and newly renovated. Very good breakfast and clean breakfast area included in our rate. Staff were helpful. Lack of check in on ground floor limits this hotel's star potential. Dated but not too scary elevator adds to the interesting experience at beginning of your visit to hotel. Several steps required even with elevator. May not be suitable for those with limited mobility / wheelchair / walker / etc.. We would stay there again without hesitation! Great value and location!

Hotel Galatea was as good as the previous reviews. The room was clean and comfortable, the staff helpful, the continental breakfast as expected, the location superb, nearby restaurants fantastic. We would definitely go back and recommend it highly to anyone who likes a good value for their money.

Hotel Galatea is a "sympatico" hotel In Rome, with a good price/quality ratio

When we arrived by taxi, I was unsure about our choice of hotels because the entrance did not have the traditional grand door & street reception area. Once inside, I realized that the hotel is located on the third floor of a residential building. There is an elevator so do not be concerned with carrying your luggage up flights of stairs. During our 3 days in Rome, I was impressed with the service at the front desk-very friendly & helpful; convenient to the Metro, but within walking distance to numerous sites. The room was extremely comfortable (we asked for extra pillows) & the bathroom was large & modern. We will definitely stay here again!!!

Very helpful staff. Great location, right in the middle of the city, within walking distance of Termini. Good price for Rome, and very nice rooms. Pizzeria below hotel has great pizza, pasta and wine. Very convenient.

As other reviewers have said, the Hotel Galatea did a "bait-and-switch". They told us that our room had been water-damaged when we arrived and that they were going to have to move us to their other hotel (which was MUCH farther from the city center than we already were). I told him clearly that it wasn't ok, and that if he needed to move us he should find a hotel closer to the city center, not farther. He said their other hotel was nicer, and that if it were him that's what would be important. I explained that for us, the location was more important. He told us to wait while he called some other hotels. We then heard him clearly saying on the phone that they had overbooked the hotel. It was upsetting and stressful, and I had called several hotels for a room already and knew that most of the city was booked. I also mentioned to him that I had seen reviews online that said they did this... Anyway, after a few minutes he called me to the front desk and said, ok, you have a room here. They then gave us a very nice room, however, this start definitely colored our stay and

Unless of course, that is, that you enjoy smelly rooms, terrible customer service, and bad value for your money. The included breakfast is the worst of all 5 hotels we visited while traveling across Italy.

Good size clean room. Friendly approachable staff. However room was very dark - lighting poor. No internet availability at all (not even for a price). Annoyance with early morning noises coming from Breakfast staff (ie. plates and cutlery clashing around) could have taken more care to be quiet - not great if you want to sleep in past 7am. Breakfast extremely plain! After a few days you may need to look elsewhere for brekkie. Location was good, could walk to most attractions easily. Unfortunately, would not recommend this hotel to friends.

The entrance of the hotel was a little scary, but the inside was very pleasant. I strongly recommend it!

I stayed at this hotel recently for a weekend and i found it to be more than lovely. From the extremely friendly reception staff to the beautiful room we were given, everything was great. Its a very quaint, traditional hotel that has all the mod cons and is walking distant to the main train station and all the main attractions. The only thing i was not very happy with was the breakfast as it was not very substantial. However, I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anybody who is going to rome for a few days and is watching their money

Location: Great location and is central to just about everything you could want to do. Everything is in walking distance to this hotel. The closest sites are prob the Trevi Fountain and the Termeni(buses and trains). Loads of great restaurants are near as well, my fav was Pasta Love(around the corner). Comfort: The rooms were always clean. Thebeds are EXTREMELY HARD, very uncomfortable. The bathrooms are very nice. There are no English speaking channels for television. The elevator works, as long as everyone using it remembers to close the door after they get out. There's no wifi. The guy said there was but every signal I received was a blocked/password acct. Staff: The staff was very helpful and spoke great English(if thats what you speak). They provide you with a map and point out every possible site for you. The even book you a car to and from the airport which came out to be MUCH cheaper than the rate given by the taxis in the airport. BOOK YOUR RIDES TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT THROUGH THE HOTEL. All and all I enjoyed my trip, and enjoyed my stay at Hotel Galatea. Thank you!

Good hotel for the price. Only complaint would be that my room didn't have a balcony as advertised and it was close to the dining room so tended to be noisy in the mornings. Overall, a fantastic location and good hotel for the price I paid. Friendly staff.

Awesome location, safe, 10 min walk to the Fontaine de Trevi, 15 min walk to the Colisee, it was great! The bed was not that comfortable, but who cares? The room was cleaned, the bathroom was awesome and the staff was nice. Excellent for the price we've paid.

Despite been in a old central building, Galatea is a cosy and nicely decorated hotel, where you can find the rooms very confortable, clean and a helpfull staff. Due to his location and price/quality ratio i highly recommend it, for sure i will use it often when visiting Rome.

Gezellig hotel, echt italiaans hotel! Mooie ligging en het hotel is netjes en verzorgd. Ik zou zeker terug komen als ik weer in Rome ben en zou het zeker aanraden aan een ander!

Man kan bli Litt skeptisk når man ser inngangen til hotellet, men etter det går det bare oppover! Fin resepsjon med veldig trivelige besetning, fine rom med reine toaletter. Beliggenheten er kanon! minibank, spar butikk like rundt hjørnet, og veldig sentralt!

excellent hotel, sejour somptueux, un accueil à l'Italienne, chaleureux, tres tres bien situé dans rome et le petit resto "leon" juste à coté est à tomber "squisito"!!!!!!

Points forts: Assez central pour accéder aux principaux sites touristiques du centre de Rome (Colisée, Fontaine Trévise, Plaza espana) à 20 minutes à pied. Bus direct pour plaza Navona et Vatican. La chambre avec salle de bain convient parfaitement pour un séjour touristique. Très confortable. Bien agencée, donnant sur rue peu bruyante. Points faibles: Immeuble effrayant mais l'étage où est situé l'hotel rassure. Accueil et amabilité inégale, tout dépend de la personne en charge au moment en question. Petit déjeuner très riche et graisses et sucres industrielles. (jus d'orange composé majoritairement d'eau et de sucre, gâteaux quatre-quart premier prix, viennoiseries mal imitées, pas de pain, rien de frais,). Nourrissant mais pas gourmet. Prendre le café de la petite machine (surtout pas la grande). Ayant séjourné en décembre, le prix était très vraiment intéressant pour la qualité de cet hotel très correct.

Perfect location; within walking distance from Termini (central railway station) and all the main tourist attractions. However there is no interet or fridge to keep your drinks cold. Hotelli sijaitsee erinomaisella paikalla n. 10min kävelymatkan päässä Terministä. Kaikki tärkeimmät turistirysät ovat 10-15min kävelyn päässä ja Vatikaaniinkin kävelee hotellilta puolessa tunnissa. Itse hotelli ja huoneet ovat siistejä. Tosin huoneissa ei ollut baarikaappia/jääkaappia eikä hotellissa ollut internetyhteyttä. Aamupala koostui lähinnä vain makeista ja sokerisista herkuista, kuten sokerikuorutetusta croissantista, vanilijapullasta ja kuivakakusta. Hotellin sisäkäynti sijaitsee vähän jännästi hotellin sisäpihalla: hotelli on yksi kerros tavallisessa (rupsahtaneessa) kerrostalorapussa. Ei kannata kuitenkaan säikähtää ensivaikutelmaa, sillä hotelli itsessään on kiva. Hotelli on ehdottomasti hintansa väärti!

Första anblicken av innergården kändes lite mystisk, men blev ganska snabbt mer gemytlig. Rummet var rent och fräscht men sängarna var hårda. Frukosten var med svenska mått var rätt så spartansk. Kaffe, lite bröd och mjölk med flingor. Det verkade dock vara vanligt med en enkel frukost i Italien. personalen var överlag bra och de flesta kunde hygglig engelska. De var hjälpsamma och omtänksamma. Med tanke på storleken på hotellet kom man närmare personalen och var igenkänd.

El hotel no está mal pero tiene varias cosas mejorables: el desayuno es ridículo. El agua caliente de la ducha sube y baja de temperatura y es incómodo ducharse. Por lo demás un hotel limpio y el personal amable.

ES UNA ZONA, QUE ESTA CERCA DE LOS PUNTOS DE INTERES. ES NU HOTELMUY BIEN RESTAURADO, CON RINCONES MUY FOTOGENICOS, EL PERSONAL ES CORRECTO Y MUY EDUCADO, SABIENDO ACONSEJAR SOBRE LAS DUDAS DE LOS CLIENTES. !!!!PARA VOLVER!!!

Hotel sympa car bien situé à 10min des principaux sites romains. Idéal pour shopping. L'hotel est propre et la chambre est refaite. Bémol: 1- au niveau de la salle de petit déjeuner qui un couloir amenagé 2- pas de chauffage : limite dans la salle de bain au mois de décembre...

Excellent location, walking distance to Termini railway station, most of the sights and shopping areas. Clean and friendly. Breakfast was rather sweet, mostly sweet buns, croissants and jam, but there was also corn flakes and muesli available. I could choose this again.

Beliggende i en side gate til Via Nasjonale, nærhet til gode spisesteder og butikker. Ca 15 min å gå til Colosseum, til Trevifontenen og til Termini-stasjonen, noe mer til Panteon. Og endel mer til Vatikanet, men vi gikk også dit. Inngang via et portrom, og beliggende i 4 etg. Litt dystert å komme første gangen. Hyggelig betjening, grei standard på rommene. Airkondition. Enkel, men grei nok forkost, bla med kornblanding som var god å gå på utover dagen. Vi kan tenke oss å komme tilbake.

Dette var mit første besøg i Rom. Hotellet var centralt beliggende 15 min fra Termini (hovedbanegården) så man kan sagtens tage toget fra Fiumicino lufthavnen. Seværdigheder: 20 min. til Colosseum, spanske trappe, Trevi-fontænen. Morgenmaden er ikke noget specielt. Man kan få lidt at spise og en kop kaffe. Da hotellet ligger på 3 sal i en 5 etages bygning, kan der være lidt larm fra de andre beboerne, om aftenen og morgenen. Der er kun Italiensk TV og ingen trådløs netværk. Hvis du skal dertil for første gang, så find adressen på streetview, så du kan se hvilken port du skal ind ad, Der er kun et lille skildt ud til gaden hvor hotellet ligger.

Trevlig personal som fixade chaufför till flygplatsen även kl 4 på morgonen. Ok läge (ca 8 min till Colosseum och mysiga kvarter i området Monti). Fräscht rum. Hotellet erbjuder ingen internetanslutning till gästerna (vare sig på rum eller i receptionen).

Достоинства. Отель удобно расположен: в шаговой доступности от вокзала Termini и от многих достопримечательностей. Окна выходят во двор-колодец, поэтому в номере тихо. Персонал доброжелателен, хорошо говорит по-английски. Недостатки. Отсутствует WiFi. Приходилось ходить на одну из соседних улиц и пользоваться платным доступом к Интернету. В остальном - типичные две звезды.

This is the perfect place to stay in Rome! Its near everything so you rarely need a transportation to move around, in a good neighborhood so you never feel uneasy to walk back late at night, very clean and very helpful 24h smiling staff! Thank you for your hospitality!

Et hyggeligt hotel midt i byen. Men pga. sin beliggenhed i en baggård alligevel stille og roligt.

Excelente ubicación para ir caminando a todos lados.Atención excelente. Sugerencia: agregar servicio de internet. Lo único negativo es que a veces queda abierta la puerta del ascensor y hay que subir los 3 pisos caminando. El edificio por fuera está muy descuidado pero ya en el hotel todo es de primera.
