The Colony Palms has a way of making you feel very relaxed. The coziness of the rooms, the fragrant gardens surrounding the pool and just feeling like you are in your own home. Very peaceful setting and a nice ride to the neighboring shops of Palm Springs and Palm Desert.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Colony Palms for a one night getaway. It was a wonderful place. We loved this hotel. It was small and quaint with a great deal of character. The room was small but well appointed. The pool and courtyard area were comfortable and inviting. We will definitely stay here again. However, I don't think this is a place I would bring my children. The atmosphere is definitely geared more toward adults and is perfect for a romantic getaway.

The POSITIVES: The room was a good size and well decorated and loved that they had music on when we arrived. It was clean (except for a little mold in the shower). The grounds were AMAZING! We fell in love with the private and intimate setting. It was what I kept referring to as an Oasis. We loved taking the pathway to our room past the fountain and through the bushes and palm trees. The pool was always clean and beautiful both during the day and at night. The hot tub was wonderful and unique. It resembled a 5 leaf clover. A few NEGATIVES: 1. I LOATHED not having a coffee maker in the room. This was a huge ordeal every morning. I got dressed, found my way to the coffee pot and behold it was empty. I had to wait in line as they refilled it (this happened every morning). You really need to invest in small coffee pots in the room. In all honesty this is a huge deciding factor for us in returning or not. 2. The front desk people and valets were tremendous, but the wait staff, specifically David at the restaurant was atrocious. We had recently arrived and were so excited to be there, but our room wasn’t ready. We decided to order drinks. David presented us with the dinner menu and we explained that we just wanted drinks, specifically a Peña Colada. 3.) NO BLENDER really??? What bar/restaurant doesn’t have a blender especially one nestled in the desert? Thank God for AZUL’s!! David seemed incensed and irritated and became very cold and snotty once he found out we weren’t ordering food. We figured it was because he thought he wouldn’t get a big enough tip. Well, we are big tippers but didn’t tip him very well as I don’t pay to have attitude.

This is the second year time I've spent a week in March at the Colony Palms in Palm Springs. I was fortunate to have my wife along with me on this business trip. The property is a recently remodeled older hotel probably originally built in the 40s. The big win here is the atmosphere. It has an intimate, remote feel: small groups of friends hanging out by the outdoor fire place or the pool. Pretty extensive landscaping and quiet but continuous outdoor music add to the effect. It is located .7 miles from the convention center and .3 miles north of the Hilton. There's free parking, Wifi and Coffee in the morning. It has an ok gym, and pool. There's an outdoor fireplace they keep on all the time (gas) that's really neat. If you're looking for grand luxury or ultra hip you'll need to find something else. If you're looking for a memorable stay in for, say, your 23rd wedding anniversary, you'll be happy here. We certainly were.

We had some time before a conference at a big convention hotel nearby, and decided to stay here the day before. We are so glad we did. It truly is an oasis, and if you never leave the hotel, and choose to lounge around the pool in one of the cabanas all day, you won't be sorry. The restaurant food is great, and the staff are very friendly, and responsive. The gym is small, but then I was the only one exercising.

Excellent stay. There are some rooms near the road. The traffic noise is loud in these rooms. We asked to be moved and were. All in all great stay

Great Hotel! Laid back Classy Pace. Best comfort around, the bed was so comfortable it was just like sleeping at home!

we stayed at the colony palms two times and we loved it. the hotel staff was extremely helpful, the room was charming and the food at the purple palm was delicious. we highly recommend staying here. i had a massage at the spa and it was incredible. we will stay here again when we visit palm springs.

We loved the location of this hotel and the setup makes it a very attractive place to just relax and enjoy the views and warm weather

If possible, splurge on one of the casitas! It's awesome to have a little outdoor living room. Overall, my only complaint about the hotel is that the spa/fitness area is a bit small and dark and the food at dinner wasn't as good as I had hoped. However, breakfast was wonderful, the staff was gracious, and the grounds are beautiful. An oasis in the desert. Great location near all the best shopping/modern architectural sights.

My husband and I really needed a serious break after a hectic fall and an over-scheduled trip to NYC for Xmas. The Colony Palms was the perfect choice. This is a place for grownups -- it is for people who are comfortable with who they are and just want to relax. There is no big noisy scene, there is a great mix of clientele, kids are welcome and fit in beautifully, and best of all, the hotel is seriously committed to being a dog-friendly property. This was a real plus for us, since we travel with our miniature poodle. He was welcome by the pool, in the outside patio by the restaurant, and a bowl of water was never far away. We had a great meal at the Purple Palm on our first evening, it's a terrific restaurant. The pool is not gigantic, and folks do tend to "reserve" deck chairs even when they're not using them, but this wasn't a big deal. The music that they pipe in by the pool was mellow and fun -- an eclectic mix that felt just right. Lots of french jazz with great vocals! We stayed in a casita, which was nice and quiet. We didn't use the outdoor patio part too much because it didn't get a lot of direct sunlight and without that, it was a bit chilly. I can imagine that it would be swell when it's a bit warmer (we were there over New Year's.) The only thing I missed in the room was a desk for writing and an extra chair or two so that you didn't need to be in bed in order to read. Aside from that, the room was great, the bed totally comfortable, and the bathroom fine. The shower never got really hot -- it was probably due to the fact that there was high demand when we were using it, but that was a minor annoyance. All in all, the accommodations were better than just good -- and even on New Year's Eve, once we shut the door, it was quiet. We plan to go back to the Colony Palms Hotel whenever we have the chance to grab a mini-vacation out of our schedules. It really was a perfect place to unwind. The attention to detail is excellent. The property is charming and you feel like you are transported to a little oasis.

An excellent value boutique hotel in Palm Springs. Nicely appointed rooms and pool area.

This hotel is old world Palm Springs with charm and a great restaurant and staff. Pool got a little crowded on the weekend, but a great experience and close to everything!

It is a very nice boutique hotel a short walk from the shops and restaurants in downtown Palm Springs. There is ample self parking surrounding the hotel and right outside the rooms so there is no need to wait for a valet. The only complaint I have is with the Hotels.com site and not with the hotel itself. In the room details section for all room descriptions, Hotels.com states "jetted bathtub". I booked a Colony King online and was upgraded to a Superior room, but no "jetted bathtub" in either. I should have checked with the hotel first before telling my girlfriend that we had a room with a "jetted tub".

Stayed here for a night. Got a free upgrade to higher class room. Rooms are very stylish, clean and nice bathrooms. Free wifi is a nice gesture and the speed was very good too!

Great Location. Go south and your at "mini-rodeo drive", go north and your at the outlets. Walk a block over and you've got tons of amazing boutiques. There is a coffee bean and a starbucks right next to the hotel. The hotel restaurant is amazing! You must have the crab-legs. The staff is incredibly responsive to your every need. A nice place to stay if your bored of big chains. The pool and poolside bar is like walking into a private zen garden. We had an incident with our card, that they double charge the rate of the room as pending for incidentals, so expect that. But as soon as we left the charge was removed. And they were very nice and understanding about the whole thing. We got a complementary upgrade for using hotels.com

The hotel property is beautiful. Like most guests at the hotel, we enjoyed the pool. The front desk staff was helpful when we needed information. Great location.

The hotel has been beautifully remodeled and the pool and garden areas are beyond stunning! The bed and pillows were so comfortable that I wanted to stay forever! The food at the Purple Palm restaurant was one of the best meals I have had in years...the deep-fried avocado and the mussels and clams are worth the trip alone! The only negative was that the Wi-Fi was located across the hotel and did not have a very strong signal to my room so I had to work out by the pool (not the worst place to have to work) and they only serve continental breakfast during the week in the summer, but even that was good.

Where do I begin???? The layout of the hotel reminds me of a hotel in New Orleans. The pool are is gorgeous. You are surronded by trees and beautiful plants. Our room was fantastic. The room was spacious for two and very clean and well decorated. We had two massages in the spa which were excellent. The food in the resturant tasted as lovely as it looked! Myhusband and I plan to come back as soon as we can! Worth the drive to Palm Springs just to stay here again!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at The Colony Palms Hotel. The room was comfortable, simple but elegant. When I entered my room it was fresh, clean and had lounge, W type music playing. The bed was nice and plush. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The restaurant delicious with a nice wine selection. Pool with backgammon available to use. There is even croquet. I will return.

The Colony Palms Hotel is right in the center of downtown Palm Springs and within walking distance of lots of terrific shops and restaurants. The hotel itself is a nice mix of old Palm Springs, with updated touches. The grounds are very nice, and it makes it feel more "resortlike." The rooms are fairly small, but the bathrooms are really big. The pool is a bit of a scene on the weekend, but nothing like some of the other hotels in town, which I liked--not dead, but not filled with crazy posers. My only real complaint was that my room was on the bottom floor, and the people in the room above were super noisy. It was almost like they were moving furniture around for most of the night. I'll make certain I'm on the second floor when I return.

My husband and I have stayed here before and we both like it. We are both drinkers and like that the bar is in the courtyard and in front of the pool. We also like the look and feel of the hotel.

We have stayed at the Colony Palms several times already, but have noticed that the attention to detail that attracted us Colony in the first place is something of the past. Let me say that the hotel grounds are beautiful and we love the Purple Palm restaurant. Also, the restaurant manager is fantastic! My 3 star rating is primarily due to the following: 1) During our 4 night stay there, we only got our room serviced/cleaned twice. The first time it happened, it was mysterious to find our doorknob "Service" sign placed back on the interior of our room, w/o a thing touched. No clean towels, and bed still unmade. 2) The second time our room was unmade, again we found the doorknob "Service" sign placed back inside our room, bed unmade, dirty towels on the floor, HOWEVER they kindly replaced our used drinking glasses. How sweet, right? They thought servicing a room only required giving us clean cups. 3) On one of the days, we received an un-identified individual call our room and frankly asked "Were you outside your room?!?" Strange, wouldn't you think? Apparently it was the General Manager. You don't earn brownie points sounding like an interrogator. At a minimum, identify who you are when calling a hotel guest. I can deal with a non-serviced room, but it doesnt go well with me when there isn't an immediate apology, and there is no explanation to why it has occurred. For the price you pay per night, any guest should expect a fantastic stay. Hopefully they uncover what is going on with their maintenance team, as it sounds like there isn't 100% accountability.

I love the CPH for many reasons but one of the most important features for me is that it is an adult focused hotel. It is obvious that most of the people who choose to stay at CPH want a more laid back and relaxing atmosphere. It is not a party environment nor is it for the typical American family of four. During most of our stays we typically see couples and small groups of friends that want to get away from the insanity of LA to just relax and left alone. If you are looking for a place that caters to children, Las Vegas style party goers or people looking for cheap drinks then you will be disappointed and should try elsewhere.

Horrible experience! The staff is uptight and angry. They screen you before you walk in, to see if you are good enough for their pool.The don't allow fun. Its like vacationing at a library. There are so many rules. You can laugh. You can't splash around. You can't have water guns. You can't use pool toys. And you can't bring your own food or beverages to the pool. I wouldn't recommend staying here. Its a waste of your money.

We wnted an escape to relax and unwind - The Colony Palms was the place! I was prepared for a strained start after reading the reviews of the front desk staff - but everyone from the valet to the front desk to the wait staff was amazing. They all went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The property was just like the pictures (how often does that happen), the pool the perfect temperature and the food very tasty. I got two massages while I was there and Pam's magic fingers unfurled the knots in my neck that no one else can ever get. We'll be back!

Drove down from LA for a day and a half for some R&R and was really happy we chose The Colony! Highly recommend and will be coming back for sure!

We had a great time staying at this hotel. I've stayed at so many hotels I feel this hotels gets an 8 out of 10. It is very hommie and spanish with pretty gardens. Very nice and simple, nothing other the top. The rooms are reg. size rooms - not to small - confy for 2 people. The bathroom is spacious and nice. Parking/Internet included in the price - that was a nice surprise. It is centrally located to the busy shopping area but far enough (4-5 blocks). The TV channels are limited (10-12) so bring your DVD player :) - Overall a nice hotel, will totally go back.

Hard to find Hotel even with a GPS. It was a very relaxing experience within walking distance to downtown.

Very nice hotel spa with wonderful lush landscape around the pool/courtyard. Spray misters help keep pool area nice and comfortable for lounging and sun. Easy walk to most downtown shops and such. Clean and quiet, too. Wireless internet, but no busness center in the small lobby.

I love love love this hotel. I believe it is the best hotel I've stayed at. I can't wait to go back.

The pool area is really lovely and the crowd is nicely mixed so you don't get the posturing and posing of other Palm Springs hotels. Room was comfortable and clean and the minibar was well-stocked and surprisingly reasonably priced ($19 for a decent-sized bottle of Tanqueray). Only issue is the ridiculous 'chill-out' music that plays incessantly around the pool area from about 11:30 in the morning. It means you never get any real peace and quiet as your mood is so determined by the music. Otherwise, it's a lovely place.

After reading all the reviews, I was a little apprehensive about staying at the Colony Palms Hotel. I had an outstanding experience and could not have bettered the location. It just shows that reviews are sometimes bias and you need to take a chance once in awhile!

People are great very friendly and the restaurant was great.

The positives: "old school" - quaint, comfortable, un-resort-like. pleasant pool/lounge area. The negatives: "old school" - small rooms, funky decor (weird photos as others have remarked). Broken towel rack, ancient shower head, thin towels. Too many fences and gates divide areas unnecessarily. Poor service in restaurant, disappointing food (not as noteworthy as others here have described) and overpriced. Insipid and inane piped music in pool/lounge area playing non-stop. Some silence please! Would not recommend a poolside room. In fact wouldn't recommend this hotel. $23/day "resort fee" ridiculous (for ?, wifi ?) Definitely not 4 star. Sorry Colony Palms!

Stayed at this quaint hotel for two nights. Loved the pool and garden areas, especially the fragrances of the vegetation. Our room was lovely and very clean. Only negative thing I have to say is the service in the outside bar/dining area. We had a drink one night at the bar and breakfast the following morning. Service was very slow. We waited at least 10 minutes each time to even be acknowledged. After these 2 occasions we decided to eat and drink elsewhere. Other than that, we loved the accommodations.

Love the Colony, everything was wonderful and relaxed. Restaurant is great, hottub and pool and firepit were excellent. Will definitely be back.
