Residence Candia - روما

The manager Aldo was very nice and helpful. The staff was always smiling and cheerful. This is the second time that I stayed there.

this was a good hotel for our last night in Rome. We attended Easter Mass at th Vatican, so we wanted something close. Some rooms are roomy while others are quite cramped. However, all did the job!

We stayed one night and were pleased with closeness to Vatican; the room was warm; close to shopping and restaurants. I left my earrings on a table by the bed and they were found and are being returned to me.

More like a motel/hostel.. If your waist line is more than 36 then this place is not for you. If you are traveling with your spouse then you would be better off with other options. Limited walking space. Basically you wouldn't have ample space if you have more than 1 luggage. No carpet so you would be walking on their floor which feels like pvc cover. Location wise is brilliant which is within walking distance to Vatican City. Overall not recommended for those traveling with spouse. Don't spoil your mood.

love the small room and the service from the front staff. had nice restarants and small stores in the area.walk to everything close that we needed. trains, buses and subway, would recommend it to all , and stay there again.

Stayed at Residence Candia from sept 16th 2012 thru sept 22nd 2012. It was a nice stay, Our room was clean and comfortable and the hotels location is a 5 minute walk to vatican city and is very close to the cipro metro location on the orange line of the metro so it is easy to move about room and see the sites. There is no free breakfast but you are provided a small kitchen in your room with a stove and all the kitchen utensils needed to make meals. My only complaint would be that the walls were thin and at times it could get a little noisy but nothing too serious. I would stay here again if visiting rome.

Enjoyed our stay, but I'm glad we were out of the room more than in it. Our room was more of an apartment than a hotel room with a kitchen and small table for eating, but the hall through the apartment was so narrow that passing another person was difficult. The staff was very helpful with directions to laundry facilities, markets and tourist sites and we really appreciated it. This hotel has a locked room to hold guests baggage for those hours between room checkout and your train/plane departure, so we got in an afternoon of sightseeing without lugging baggage. They also keep a stack of maps on the front desk to pass out so you can find your way around.

The staff, particularly (Helena??) were very helpful. She went above and beyond to help me with a cell phone that I lost in Germany, all the while assisting other customers-very efficient and on top of it! The accommodations were roomy. Not the most modern of rooms, but clean and nice and very close to the Vatican City and a metro stop (couple of blocks) and from there you can get to all other attractions.

Room was super small. We needed to stay an extra night. We were told OK the night before, then woke up in the morning and we were told sorry cant do it.

Was very pleased with my stay. The room was immaculately clean and the location is perfect and a great bargain for the price. Would definitely stay there again. Even though we had the smallest size room type, the bed was king and had single bunkbed on top. Lots of "closet", shelves space. The day time lady was little frazzled but very nice and let us check in at 11:30a, since our room was ready. The young lady that took us to our room was a sweetheart. The night guys are little stand offish, could smile some. If you're very big or overweight, beware that the bathroom has a very small shower. Dont' know is showers in the bigger rooms are bigger. There is $2 euro per person per day tax charge and they take only cash for this. The notice is also posted as you enter. Maps and info are given to you at front desk along with wifi code(free). We highly recommed it.

The room was entirely too small; we could have dealt with that, but we were located immediately above the parking lot, and experienced noise all night involving late night party goers, arrivals, and departures. Since the parking lot is also a smoking area we had the benefit of breathing smoke for our entire two night stay. Not impressed with the room, but the staff were helpful.

Enjoyed the room and all the kitchen assesories! it was clean big enough for a small family and perfect location to vatican, food, metro, and buses !! The staff helped us with buses and metro !Would stay again

I booked a penthouse for four (with three beds) and we were given two room causing one of us to use the sofa beds. It was a major inconvenience. The bathroom in one of the apartment was super small - even in European standards! We did not have hot water for some time because of the water heater issues and we had to remind the front desk more than twice. We needed some assistance from the room service one evening and there was no one available, the receptionist at the front desk flatly refused to attend it saying he cannot leave the front desk and there is no one else was available. The Wifi is very very slow (we were on the 5th floor). Most of the electric appliances (TC, microwave etc) are kept disconnected. You have to plug them in. You may have to request an extension cord to plug them in too. The rooms are kept clean. AC was working fine. There was enough space in the living room.

read the reviews about the small size, thought better to up to the Superior Studio, nothing superior about it. 5x5 area to turn around in, the rest is the bed and cabinets, table. Very small, no balcony. Friendly staff. Only real plus is the location

Overall, it was great to stay there. Just only thing you might need to remember is that it's close to vatican but not to city center. You need to take a metro or bus. And inside the room, it's very convenient. Regardless of small size room, it has everything. Very convenient. But if you want to cook, u need to buy oil, salt, pepper, dish washing liquid etc..so be prepare and enjoy. It was better than normal hotel for me.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay at Residence Candia. The elevator was too small for our double stroller, so we had to unload the kids and break it down every time we returned. But otherwise it was very kid and family-friendly. It's close to a metro stop and there are grocery stores, a gelateria, cafe, and restaurants, including McDonald's close by.

Nice apartments with helpful staff. Clean!

Not much. The hotel is adequate at best. The price was quoted incorrectly and we were charged an extra $116 euros when we checked in.The front lobby is very unappealing and our stay began with a poor impression. The location is good, but the hotel needs work.

The Residence Candia was a wonderful way to start our vacation in Rome. We rented a car, traveled through rush hour, and found a parking place at the hotel (no charge)! The front desk staff was extremely helpful and all spoke English. We walked to the Vatican and even listened to the Pope on his Wednesday greeting. St. Peter's Basilica is incredible and our balcony at the hotel faced St. Peter's (we have photos)! The hotel is very clean and safe. If you are from anywhere in the world (we are Americans)....book this hotel. It was a great experience and our first in Italy!

I really like the location of this hotel being just outside of the Vatican and very close to the subway. The rooms were very clean and cozy. I thought the hotel staff was very helpful. The one big draw back and negative I have for this hotel is when I went to check out I got his with a 30 Euro hotel stay tax after I had pre paid everything via hotels.com Then I had to pay the service fee to pay with my credit card. Not sure why this is not already rolled up in the hotel price but beware of it!!!!

We stayed in the hotel for four nights and all we have is admiration and appreciation. The receptionists were exceptionally friendly and accommodating and they are multilingual too. The rooms were very clean with complete kitchen amenities. I was a little bit uncomfortable with the very small lift (elevator) but that was forgivable. Our over all experience with the place, with the neighborhood and the accessibility to our destinations was exceptional. Yes, we will definitely go back here.

Much to my surprise I really liked Rome and the location and comfort of Residence Candia had a lot to do with that. The hotel staff were always helpful, our room nicely cleaned and comfortable. I had misgivings about spending four days in a big city but we could walk to the Vatican, which was an important item for our trip to Italy. The train station is just a short walk to Residence Candia. The hotel wifi worked fine for us also.

Very close to Vatican and metro (Cipro sta.). Very small room, patio was larger than apartment. Apt. was clean. First trip to Europe, hard to get use to such small accomodations.

The location was great. 2 blocks from Vatican museum. 2 blocks from metro to get to rest of Rome. Grocery store 2.5 blocks away. We used the kitchen alot to save some money. We had 2 dinners and 3 breakfasts. This place is tiny though. Everything was IKEA made and used well. Our room would have slepped 3 but 3 people coudn't hang out in there or eat together. Our kitchen table was a drawer that slid out. Use the wired internet; the wireless was weak. I tried several points in hotel for signal. Only good one was on top floor. The wired internetplug in was underneath bed. The staff was helpfull. Good luck and enjoy!!

My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon in Rome. We saved money by getting a studio style hotel room and making our own breakfast and lunch everyday. Residence Candia is clean and neat. It's just a 5 minute walk to the Vatican Museums, 15 minute walk to St. Peter's Square and 2 minute walk to the Cipro Station. It worked wonderfully for us!

Great price for location. It is a older hotel but we enjoyed it so much. Super clean, staff was wonderful. Close to Vatican and Hop On Hop Off bus route. Lots of places right there for shopping and eating. Got a real kick out of the elevator and narrow stairways. Grocery store not to far around the corner about a block and half away. 3 couples stayed here and we enjoyed the experience totally. We would stay here again. Not new, not fancy just a enjoyable stay.

The staff was very helpful and spoke great English . Room was small and crowded. For the price we paid we were surprised that there was no maid service until the 4th day. Since we stayed 3 days we never got our room cleaned. Location was close to Metro line so very convenient and is within walking distance to The Vatican. Overall it met our needs. It was quiet at night which was great.

The location of this hotel was excellent. Could walk to many sites and was closed to the Metro, shopping, and a variety of restaurants in the area. We loved it. It was clean, comfortable and staff was always helpful.

The room was a bit small, but had everything we needed for our two day stay. The staff was very nice, friendly, and helpful. My husband had his wallent stolen at the bus stop (please be careful) and the staff was helpful and simpathetic and helped us with this small trauma. Room was very clean, and the breakfast was great. The metro subway is nearby and so is the bus stop. There's a small grocery store nearby too. and of course the Vatican is only a few blocks away.

the hotel concierge's are very helpful and knowledgeable...they have free maps and give great recommendations on local restaurants and what buses to take wherever you want to go...average european sized apartments...highly recommended!

This was an apartment style place with little service. Towels only every three days (not stated on Hotels.com website so we were not prepared.) The beds are not very comfortable (hard) but for most European travelers, it's fairly normal. Slept 4 of us so the price is o.k. for a family. We cooked in the kitchen to save money and they wanted extra to give us dish detergent! No extras, if you are cooking in, bring salt/pepper, detergent, oil, etc. Other apartments offer these things on hand. Good news, you are very close to a market - the biggest one in Rome and also very close to a metro to get anywhere. Leave the back gate and you are at the line for the Sistine Chapel. A lot of steps to get to the apartment, so be prepared if you have heavy luggage.

Seriously, it was great. At first arrival we had an issue with the heat. Our room was too cold and was not warming up. Seeing we could not get an easy solution, they quickly moved us to another room and we had no problems from them on. In fact, the room was so big and so clean. I'm very particular about the bathroom and this one was beyond satisfactory. Without knowing anything about Rome, I really lucked up when I booked this hotel. The staff was very helpful. The location was also very convenient. It was very close to the Vatican museum and St Peter's Basilica and the subway was a block away. I highly recommend it.

Tiny clean room with everything you can possibly need, perfect for a short stay..

This is a great property. Great location near the Vatican. Surprisingly quiet. Clean, well kept. Updated rooms. Rooms are quite small, but common for Europe. Larger people will not fit into the shower opening - it was a really small doorway into the shower. Nice once you make it in. The toilet was also very high. I am 5'10" and when seated I was on my tippy toes. Comfortable bed, fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, small oven, dishes & utensils. No dish soap. Bring your own alarm clock. Room was slept daily, and bed was made up. They ignore the Do Not Disturb tag on the door... TV had a few lame stations all in Italian, but who cares. Wireless internet worked great. Small grocery store about a block away. Laundromat about 5 blocks away. Metro station very close. 15 minute walk to St. Peter's square. Several little places to eat within a block. The registration desk spoke great English and were helpful. Only needed them at check in and check out, and asked a question once. Save some Euros for the ridiculous city tax when you check out. If you spend the majority of your time in your hotel room, this isn't the place for you. If you use it to sleep, rest a little and maybe eat once in a while, the RC is a great option. I'd recommend it.

We loved our stay! The great manager gave us a true "Room With a View!" We could see The Vatican from our windows. We were comfortable and felt secure and safe. Would stay there again and again if we had the chance!

The location was good, only blocks from the vatican, and the vatican museum. Parking was good, neigborhood, had nice places. Room was EXTREMELY small. If you, were a larger person, you would have had a hard time using the restroom. Staff, some were very helpful. I think, it was overpriced, but maybe not for Rome.

This place had a very friendly staff. The location is nearly across the street from the metro line for easy access to other parts of Rome. Walking distance to Vatican. Clean room. Convenient to have kitchen space, table and a lil extra space.

The staff a this apartment hotel was terrific. Very helpful. We had problems checking in online for our flight back to the states and the desk staff had us use their email address for our documents and even printed everything out for us. We stayed in the one bedroom Penthouse. Don't let Penthouse confuse you... It WAS on the top floor but that was the only resemblence to a Penthouse. The furniture, although very clean, was cheap. The kicten was VERY small but efficient.The bedroom was very clean but again, Very small. The best thing was you could hear the Vacican church bells from the room. The is a lovely terrance where we enjoyed our morning coffee. They advertize that you can see the Vactican Dome from our room but really that is a bit of a stratch. There is a great market around the corner so you can walk to but groceries and and the surrounding area seemed quite safe. I did like being able to make some meals there, especially breakfast. All in all, it was a nice experience.

Stayed in the "Presidential Suite". Not sure what country the president was that stayed there, but imagine a coup would be easy to execute.
