Fine hotel, great location, room a bit small but fine for short stay. Extremely helpful staff

This place was simple and cozy. a walk to the restrauants, shopping, parks, beaches, coves, and sea lions viewing. After reading other people feedback on La Jolla Inn, I choose this particular hotel based on location and price. (a bit concern of the negative feedback). The ocean view room we got was a little outdated but that didn't bothered us. Our room were clean and receptionist was far more than helpful. We had access to coffee and tea anytime on the main floor. Don't forget the bed and breakfast as you awake. They offered a roof top sun deck w/ BBQ grill, heat lamps, and lounger chair for the R&R folks. tips: Park along the street in permitted area. save $$ and it's free.

The La Jolla Inn is a good location for shops, restaurants, and viewing the seals at La Jolla Cove. Be sure to see the rooftop patio view. There was a $6 charge for parking the car in a lot a block away that I wasn't expecting. Breakfast can be served on the rooftop or in your room. The breakfast was generous, mostly carbs, and brought to our room a few minutes after our order was placed.

The hotel is well located, clean and staff is very friendly. My room was small, but had everything you might need, granted that snacks, bottle water and some toiletries were charged separately, but easy to identified in order to avoid unnecessary expenses. It's walking distance to the cove. Parking is 2 blocks away at an extra charge but finding free parking on the street was not hard. i would return.

The location was very beautiful. It's right by the ocean, and there are plenty of places to walk to around the hotel. Parking is pretty difficult, but that's not the hotel's fault. It is a tourist location, after all. The people at the front desk are very nice, and one of the girls even waited 20 minutes for us to get there because we were late. However, we were put in room 4 and our toilet wasn't working. The pipes were corroded so we couldn't fix it and there wasn't anyone we could contact to resolve this issue. The next day we told them and they were very understanding and just gave us a different room. The second room was in much better condition

This is an older hotel that is well taken care of. Very small, only 23? rooms, it had room "keys" not a key card...thought that was cool. Very nice neighborhood, in my opinion upscale. Parking was free along the street, but hard to get at times. They have a somewhat inconveniently located parking garage, but we never even attempted to find it. Walking distance to the beach, shopping, food, rentals (bikes, kayaks, etc.). We will stay here again, enjoyed the hotel.

Simple room, comfortable bed, strange humming in the room in the morning. Simple continental breakfast. Close to shopping and restaurants. Try La Taverna. Yummy!

The room was small, but everything was lovely about this small hotel. Great location!

Nice quaint hotel. If you are looking for a place with spacious rooms and lots of glitz, this place is not for you. If you are looking for a comfortable, extra clean, well-maintained, older hotel, located in central La Jolla, then this is the place for you. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

The hotel is in a good location and is a good value for business travelers.

i really enjoyed my stay in january. it was a little chilly but the area, was prime. basically in the middle of downtown la jolla, one of my favorite places to be. thers lots of different types of activities real close. i usually stay at the beach and tennis club a little ways north, but i was pleasently surprised at the price location and the room i got, and at very short, immediate notice. the area is a little pricey, and on a steep hill fyi, but the staff at the la jolla inn was very professional and helpfull. and really made a last minute decision to stay there a very nice pleasant surprise. i would go back again.

Great location, tiny rooms, extremely noisy (inter-room noise), offer a very breakfast menu but always out of items. Only 19 rooms. Maintenance poor in some respects. Overcharge for drinks, snacks and toiletries in rooms.

It was extremely noisey in the early morning - could not sleep past 6:00 am because of all the traffic and delivery noise, as well as leaf blowers, etc. Thermastat in room did not work.

The hotel was very cute, the staff very friendly and helpful.

Awesome !~ Ok, I have to say that I booked it before reading any reviews... THEN got super scared after reading everyone's reviews. My girlfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights and had a really cute room. Had a little kitchen and a nice balcony. Not sure about the other rooms, but ours was perfect ! YES, it's noisy as the walls are super thin. Actually can hear other's TV's next door and all the street noise... but that was really the only complaint we had. The front desk was super nice and glad to help with anything you like. The bed was perfect. The AC was awesome. What else... OH, yeah, definitely make sure you're there in time to check in because they do close down the front desk at I think 9 pm ? It's a b&b.. so, you can expect that I guess. GREAT sushi places 1/2 a block away. GREAT beaches just 1/2 a block away as well. AWESOME stay ! Erik

Was a cute hotel but small room with very thin walls. Neighboring people were smoking marijuana in their room that could be smelled coming down the hallway. Then up all night making noise along with upstairs room banging all night. Nice place but would not stay there again.

I enjoyed everything about my stay. I just wish the AC would have worked or the window could have stayed open

Our stay was horrible! When we checked into our room the front desk gave us our key and we walked to our room. My husband tried opening the door but there was a table blockin the door. We opened it up and there was a ladies bag and some drinks on the table. We went back and told the lady so she went to check it out. About 20 min later she comes back as says " Our room is ready". She explained to us that the room next door had a conjoining door and was using the room for the day. However the hotel was sold out because of an event in town we had no choice but to stay. Not to mention it was 11pm and we had out 5 year old with us. We get to the room and the bed was a mess. We had to ask for clean sheets and when we did the front desk said "looks lik no one slept in the bed" . 4 am rolls around and we "neighbors" start knocking at the conjoining door and party all night. The bath room floor was full of sand and the next morning when I went to take a shower all the the others peoples stuff was in the shower, along with a bunch more sand. We of course let the desk know what happened and they said they would make a note to have a manager call us. Four hours later we called and left a message. Day later, another message. By day 3 got to talk to a manager and was told we need to talk to the owner. Left a message 2 times and still not call. This hotel has HORRIBLE customer service and I will NEVER recommend it to anyone. Poor customer service and an embarrassment to the online service.

We loved it! Hotel was great, perfect location for snorkeling, shopping, and some nightlife. We had a blast.

I stayed in a smaller room since I was travelling alone. The room was just large enough for a bed and tv. I had to side step to get past the tv to the restroom. The threshold hardware going into the bathroom had an exposed nail that I nearly cut my foot on when I stepped down. The coffee maker disn't work and neither did the air conditioning unit. The window wouldn't stay open on it's own so I propped it up with the amenities binder. Lastly, the door had to be slammed in order to latch completely. I'm sure the neighboring guests were not happy about that. Oh...and there is no onsite parking. There is a parking garage 2 blocks away that they will charge you daily to use. All that aside, this hotel was in a beautiful location very close to the beach, shopping, dining, etc.

Located a block away from beach, perfect! As for the hotel.. It sucks the beds are hard, paper thin walls. Woke up by a women crying on the roof and a couple in the room next to us fighting.. I could hear every word! They shouldn't even say they offer breakfast when they only offer snacks, like bread and that's it. The location is the only thing holding this hotel up, I love La Jolla. There price is definitely not worth it! I booked a king suite at the Hampton for cheaper than there price and it was waaaaay better! But again location is everything.

The room I was in was very small and I can't really imagine how two adults would fit comfortably in there. the location was great, just a two minute walk to the beach and amongst great restaurants. I came into contact with four front desk attendants, who were all helpful but not necessarily enthusiastic. There's also a great view from their roofdeck. Basically, you're gonna pay location over amenities

The Cove suite was very nice. The direct negative is the door to the patio.The bamboo blinds are see-through. One could easily look through it specificaly during the evening and at night.Also the generator across the street is during the night very noisy.

Do not arrive too late, the front desk closes at 10pm and there is no one to check you in or answer your phone calls. You will be stuck without a place to stay.

La Jolla is in a great location, although parking was a little tough to find late on a Friday night. I was just stopping there for the night on the way to somewhere else but decided to hang around in the morning because there was so much to do. La Jolla offered complimentary breakfast that they bring to your room. Great service in a great location.

Great hotel with a patio on the roof of the hotel where you can barbecue and entertain guests. Spectacular view from the roof top patio overlooking the Pacific ocean. We had a great 3 days there. The rooms are smaller than regular rooms at other hotels in the USA, but about the same size as hotel rooms in Europe. We are from Sweden, so we were ok with the smaller room size. If I return to the San Diego area in the future, I will check-in to this hotel again.

Hotel was well maintained and clean, but service could have been better. Maid service missed cleaning the room one day. Had to specifically ask the front desk for maid service the next day. Continental breakfast on the sundeck was nice, but bagels were delivered untoasted. Had to walk down 3 flights of stairs to the toaster. Night desk clerk was rude and sarcastic.

So convenient. Can walk right out your door to the shops and restaurants. One block from the beach.

We Love LaJolla, spent many weekends there with family or just the 2 of us. The hotel was small and pricey. Yet there was no true accomidations to brag of. The room was small for the price, and to make matters worse the bed was something we talked of throwing out the window and sleeping on the floor.

The La Jolla Inn was a comfortable hotel. The room was not luxurious by any means but it was fine. I would have liked to see a desk in the room for people travelling for business etc. The rate you are paying for here is the location. It is a 2 minute walk to the La Jolla main street where all the food and shops are. The beach is about a 5 minute walk. The 'Cove' is nothing to rave about infact I was disappointed the other end of the beach where all the seals are and is much more pretty and enchanting. The service at La Jolla Inn was fantastic, the girls at reception were more than happy to help with any questions and to provide tourist information. I really did have a pleasant and comfortable stay at La Jolla Inn, thank you!

This lovely European style hotel is located in the heart of the seaside village of La Jolla. It's only one block to the beach and parks, and directly in the middle of the commercial district with an incredible number of restaurants and boutiques. Ask for a room with a balcony. Breakfast is served on the roof deck patio or in your room. Great value.

Perfect location - great roof top and room views of the ocean. Water damage on the room ceiling. Beds are far to soft and lack support. Staff was very nice and accommodating. A fair value for the cost per night based on location.
