Chic & Basic Amsterdam - أمستردام

The rooms were small (as to be expected in Amsterdam), but clean and welcoming. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. We were also happy with the location: on Heregraght Canal and within walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal and Dam Square. The always-available coffee/tea is a nice touch.

Fantastic location. Very convenient for the train station and a short walk to most visitor attractions. Reception staff all very helpful and friendly.

How glad we were that the Chic & Basic chain hasn't redone the rooms in their Amsterdam hotel! They were much odder and charming this way. The hotel is definitely not high end, but the staff was so wonderful - especially Paula - and free coffee and wi-fi 24/7 go a long way to making me happy. The beds were extremely comfortable. The only negative (and this was true for most smaller hotels in The Netherlands) were the incredibly steep staircases one hascarry one's luggage up. No lifts. All in all, I'd stay there again.

The hotel itself is great and it and the room were modern and clean, and the room I had was larger than most in Amsterdam and I felt a good deal for the price. No complaints about anything other than the toilet paper dispenser (single-ply tissue dispenser, but that seems to be par for the course for Amsterdam). I'd stay there again.

A bare 10 min walk from the railway station, beautifully situated at the Herengracht. Modern atmosphere in the reception/breakfast area. Cosy, clean room with nice ensuite bathroom, maybe a little small. Short walking distance to main attractions, very nice and helpful staff. Would absolutely stay again

The Hotel has a great location 5 minutes from Train Station. We had the top floor and there is no lift so if you have a big suitcase you will have a big challenge.

Be sure to reserve a large room. We had a large vintage room and there was plenty of space. There was even a nice private patio right outside our room. In summer this might be nice. We saw a few other rooms, and they were TINY!! Barely room to walk around the bed. Bed was fair, shower was good. No breakfast, but coffee machine always available. Wireless internet worked ok. Really easy walk from the train station. You can walk along the canal and pass under the busy road to get to the quiet street the hotel is located on. Right off the pedestrian/shopping/coffee shop way.

I was completely floored by how happy we were with this hotel. The rooms are not as big as most us Americans are used to, but in this location, all you need is a place to sleep! This hotel is perfectly located around everything, and only a 5 minute walk from the train station. The staff was amazingly nice, and so helpful. The coffee is free and tastes great! The beds are very comfortable as well. Couldnt have asked for a better spot or a better price.They truely made our stay even more pleasant than it already was. Thank you Chic & Basic!

This is the second time I have stayed at the C&B and I recommend it highly. Lovely quiet location, just a short walk from all the sites. Try to get a room with a canal view - it's beautiful. The first time I stayed here I had a room with no window at all - but even that was cool with a clever 'mood lighting' system that made the room feel like daylight.

Wonderful location, friendly staff, fantastic freeflow coffee and sweet little quirks such as a shoe shiner and an outdoor sauna. Didn't get a renovated room but that wasn't an issue as the size of the room was unbelievable after coming from Paris where all rooms are tiny. The neighbourhood is quite with plenty of nice restaurants in the area. If you want to go to Amsterdam on a moderate budget, this is the place to go. : )

I booked a medium sized modern room and was "upgraded" to a large sized traditional room because of plumbing problems in my original room. I appreciated being upgraded to a larger room, but it was more like a college dorm room than what I consider traditional... the modern decorations in the pictures is what drew me to this hotel in the first place, so that was a bummer. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean for the most part, but needs an upgrade. Front desk staff were all helpful, especially the gentleman who checked me in... he carried my heavy suitcase up the STEEP steps without being asked! Location of hotel was very convenient... very close walking distance to Central Station, Anne Frank house, restaurants (most stop serving at 10PM btw, no exceptions - very frustrating!), coffeeshops and several other sites. Free coffee and water available all day. Toast, butter and jam provided in the morning was nice, but a piece of fruit or cereal would have been even better! Overall, I think I got a good deal for what I paid for and would recommend this hotel to travelers on a moderate budget.

good location. nice entrance and friendly staff. free internet. room a bit small and disappointed it was not in the Chic style. however ok for a few days.

This was a great little hotel in a great location. I spent 3 days in Amsterdam on vacation, and I was able to walk everywhere, even to the Rijksmuseum. Yes, there is no elevator, but even after walking all day, the steps weren't a problem (I was on the 3rd floor). Since it is located in an old canal house, there is a little bit of noise. If you are used to city and/or apartment living, you won't even notice it. The neighborhood was very quiet. I kept my windows open all night, and the only outside noise I heard was an occassional scooter. The rooms may be older, but mine was spotless. The staff was wonderful. Everyone I came across was very friendly and helpful. If I ever come back to Amsterdam, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

A fun environment and exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. Excellent location relative to Amsterdam Centraal Station. 24-hour coffee machine in lounge area. Toast and jam served for breakfast. The hotel has a few bikes for rent. Highly recommend.

I was a bit apprehensive about the hotel since I had typically stayed at much more expensive, U.S. based big chain hotels. My first experience in a Dutch hotel was definitely worthy of another try. There was no elevator and the steps were steep but manageable. As expected, the room was small and the furnishings much less elegant than you would find in an Marriott or Hilton. At the same time, I didn't spend much time in the room, so it was perfectly fine with me. In some ways, it reminded me of a cruise where the rooms are small but you don't really care that much. In addition, unlike the more upscale hotels, the amenities such as coffee, an full array of TV stations, and internet were free. And I must say that the staff were incredibly gracious. Probably not for those who expect an expensive model home type experience, but certainly comfortable and fun work those with an adventurous spirit.

A fantastic place in a perfect location. Plenty of quirky touches to make the stay more enjoyable and our wonderful hosts were always very friendly and eager to assist in any way possible. One of the most enjoyable stays in all of my travel experiences. Very highly recommended.

Overall this is an adequate hotel: clean, well-kept, safe, and closely managed. The hotel is a converted property (two side by side structures), built long ago as something else. Luckily it's small place that didn't have a rowdy clientele, at least during my stay, so while sounds carried and doors offered no acoustic insutlation, the place was generally quiet. The hotel has a 24-hour reception desk next to the front door, which is locked at night or when the receptionist leaves the desk. My room was wierd, and the receptionist who helped me with my bag to my room tipped me off, but I failed to realize it at the time. She showed me to my room and left very abruptly. When I looked for my bathroom, It was down a spiral case to room with a 7-foot ceiling. I almost asked for a different room, but had already unpacked and was tired from a trans-Atlantic flight. The room had two stools but no chair with back, and this was a drag. The bed was comfortable. The room had only a small window located near the ceiling above the stairwell to the bathroom. Maid service was competent. The hotel's wi-fi was very sketchy. The connection quality in my room was poor and I got kicked off a lot. On my second, it failed completely and was not fully restored for two days. The hotel made some accommodations so that we could connect via a cable, but this was in the lobby only. The coffee, free and available almost anytime, is made fresh by the cup and is terrific. I For the price, it was a very reasonable value. Was it basic? Absolutely. Was it chic? No. A more accurate name would be Basic & Adequate.

I like this hotel. I have stayed there many times over the years during its various incarnations as The Hotel New York and The Hotel Nieuwe Amsterdam. The improvements are nice. It is a great value in a PERFECT location! The staff is super friendly and very accommodating. Thanks Jeannie, Paloma, and Toby! The free wifi and computer niche are pluses. Some rooms are small but it's not a deal breaker! Why stay in a large chain when you can get the "full on Amsterdam experience" here at the Chic & Basic.

It was such a great hotel. So friendly and accommodating. They had great amenities (free coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water) also in a perfect location for fun. We will definitely stay here again.

The hotel offers guests a comfortable place to stay with a few amenities not available at similarly priced hotels throughout major European cities (such as free wireless/ethernet cords in the rooms as well as a community computer with internet in the lobby). The staff was welcoming upon arrival and helpful with inquiries regarding nightlife, sites to see, restaurants, etc. They had space enough to upgrade me, for free and without a request from me, from a single to a double room, offering more space. The hotel is about a 7-minute walk to the red light district and a 15-20-minute walk to many of the museums (e.g., Van Gogh, Heineken, etc.). Would definitely return to this property.

This hotel was great value for money and was very close to the station, bars and sights. Well worth staying in if you are on a budget but dont be fooled by the price, the hotel is actually quite nice!!!

This was an outstanding typical Amsterdam hotel. If you are from America it is going to be different from what you might be used to, but for Amsterdam it was amazing! Great location and the view from our window was "picture perfect" The staff was helpful and friendly.

Les plus: le caractère typique de l'hotel qui est une ancienne maison d'habitation sur un des canaux, le personnel (charmant & disponible), tout près de la gare centrale, tout près du centre (on peut tout faire a pieds depuis l'hotel), possibilité de boire un thé ou un café à n'importe quel moment de la journée dans la cuisine ouverte de l'hotel (ouverte sur un espace détente) Le seul "hic" est l’insonorisation: disons que lorsque les voisins sont sans gène, tout de suite, ça s'entend (en l'occurrence, réveillée à 4h du matin par deux gros balours, rentrant certainement d'une virée dans le quartier rouge, ivres mort!). Cela ne m'empêchera toutefois pas de recommander cet hôtel, et d'y retourner!

cet hotel porte très bien son nom;tout dans la sobrièté. Personnel trés sympathique. petit déjeuner offert. Trés bien situé ,environ 10 min à pied de la gare et du centre ville(commerces,quartier rouge ,maison d'Anne Franck) Au 3 eme trés étage silencieux..inconvénient: les escaliers un peu raides,mais spécificité d'amsterdam Agréable séjour,à recommander

Merkeze inanılmaz yakın ama fazla konfor aramayın, ancak gerçekten Amsterdam evlerini yaşamak istiyorsanız size tavsiye edebileceğim çok güzel bir otel. Oda büyüklüğü fena değil ancak 2. kata dar bir merdivenden çıkmak epey zahmetli. Bunun dışında her oda standart değil, o yüzden büyük odayı tercih edin. Bizim arkadaşlarımız manzarası olmayan ufak bir odada kaldı. Biz biraz şanslıydık, hem kanal manzarası hemde büyüklük açısından çok iyiydi. Bizim kaldığımız zaman ufak bir tadilat vardı ve bu yüzden az da olsa bir ses vardı ancak merkezde olmasına karşı gerçekten sessiz ve huzurluydu. Kesinlikle bir daha kalırım.

Got upgraded to a room with canal view. Amazing view from the windows. The room wasn't especially nice but good enough. Nice people in the reception. Quiet location but very close to where the things happen. I would definitely stay here again next visit to Amsterdam.

Nimensä veroinen hotelli lähellä rautatieasemaa, kanavan rannalla (tietysti). Hotellissa pääsi kokemaan, millaista olisi asua A'damin keskustassa, vanhassa rakennuksessa. Ylhäällä asuminen sopii vain ketterille ja hyväkuntoisille. Siisti hotelli ja avulias henkilökunta.

Im Januar gebucht damit ich ein Zimmer erhalte das Klein war, mit einem Fenster in einen Gang vis a vis der Waschküche. Am Morgen wurde man vom Lärm des Frühstücks geweckt. Kein Blick nach draussen. Im Zimmer waren die Wänder nicht sauber und im Eck war es schimmlig. Das Bad klein. Nächstes mal wird sicher ein grosses Zimmer gebucht (welches ich schon mal hatte), dies hat eine normale grösse mit einem richtigen Fenster. Für diesen Aufenthalt war ich aber nicht zufrieden!!!!

Wir sind mit der Bahn gekommen - sehr zu empfehlen wegen der miserabelen, teuren Parkmöglichkeiten in Amsterdam. Das Hotel liegt keine 10 Minuten vom Bahnhof entfernt. Überwiegend junges Publikum im Hotel. Sehr be- mühte freudliche Angestellte an der Rezeption. Ob- wohl ohne Frühstück angeboten, gab es die Möglichkeit, sich Kaffee oder Tee zuzubereiten und Toast mit Butter und Marmelade zu sich zu nehmen.Zimmer relativ klein, aber sehr sauber und ordentlich. Das Hotel liegt direkt an einer Gracht im Bereich der Altstadt, dennoch ruhig. Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten gut auch zu Fuß zu erreichen. Da kann man absteigen.

Hotellet ligger helt rigtigt, tæt på centrum men alligevel ret fredeligt lige ud til en af de store kanaler. Værelset var lidt specielt og vinduet var for lille når der skulle luftes ud. Men personalet er meget venligt og serviceminded. Og så er det genialt at man kan leje cykler på stedet - det er en rigtig fin måde, at "gøre" Amsterdam på.

Enkelt och trevlig hotell med toppenläge i lugnt kvarter med centralt läge max 500 m från centralstationen. Trevlig och serviceinriktad personal.

Et supert hotell med super beliggenhet. Gå-avstand fra sentralstasjonen. Ligger ved en koselig kanal, bra utgangspunkt for å gå eller sykle rundt i byen. Basic hotell, med koselig personale, freshe rom. enkel frokost, kaffe, te og vann tilgjengelig hele døgnet. Alltid noen i resepsjonen. Fint bad. Anbefales!

Ett fint hotell, bra läge, trevlig personal, rent och snyggt. Extra poäng att man alltid kunde ta kaffe, + att en lätt frukost ingick! Skulle gärna boka rum på hotellet igen.

Adorei o ambiente do hotel com decoracao moderna e pratica. Os atendentes falam bem o ingles e ate espanhol. Localizacao privilegiada, proxima de tudo, apenas alguns quarteiroes da estacao central da cidade. Sugiro escolher os quartos mais altos com vista panoramica maravilhosa para o canal, apesar das escadas altas e ingremes. O hotel oferece gratuitamente cafe, pao, chas, leite, e capuccino no hall de entrada.

Superbe hotel situe a cote de la gare centrale 5min et aussi du centre ville.petit dej le matin ,cafe gratuit toute la journee dans l'hotel, location de velo 10 euros par jours,plan de la ville donné a l'arriver et a la fin du sejour quand on libere la chambre pour 11h il garde les bagages jusqu'a se qu'on parte pour notre destination.chambre petitemais agreable .

Olen asunut Amsterdamissa ja valitsin tämän hotellin hiihtoloman ajaksi hyvän sijaintinsa vuoksi.10 minuutin kävelymatka Central Stationilta ja lyhyen kävelymatkan päässä kaikista mielenkiintoisista alueista (Vondel Park, Museum Plein, 9 Streets, Spui...). Hotelli oli todella siisti,henkilökunta auttavaista ja ystävällistä. Hintaan kuului kahvi/tee/juomavesi/jääpalat ympäri vuorokauden aulassa sijaitsevista automaateista. Positiivisena yllätyksenä kuulimme että myös aamiainen (kahvi/tee ja paahtoleipä marmeladilla) kuuluu hintaan. Kaikin puolin erittäin miellyttävä kokemus,menen varmasti uudestaankin. Suosittelen!

Ótimo local, com ambiente jovem e descontraído. Pessoal simpático e acessível. O único "senão" são as escadas quase íngrimes para os andares superiores, o que dificulta levar bagagens para pessoas mais velhas.
