Residenza Domizia- Guest House - روما

I was originally booked to stay at Residenzia Domizia near Piazza Navona but when I arrived they had plumbing issues. They cabbed me to another one of their hotels on Via Gregoriana at the top of the Spanish Steps. What a gem! Though the manager Leticia only speaks Italian it was not a barrier to having an excellent 4 night stay. The room and adjoining ensuite were clean and quite well appointed. Breakfast was around the corner and started every day on a positive note. Leticia even arranged for Mauricio to shuttle me to the airport on time and quite efficiently. I will stay there anytime-Residenza Domizia Smart Design gets an excellent rating from me.

Even though the hotels.com description said there would be a bathtub and ceiling fan, they were not there. The room was warm and I couldn't control the AC and since the room faced a very busy street, I couldn't open the window at night so the ceiling fan would have been nice. Other than that, a nice stay.

Booked hotel months in advance specifically to use my Rewards and for its location. Upon arrival we were taken directly to an "annex" location. There the room was at street level, could not leave a window open due to street noise and lack of privacy. Room was exceptionally small (bathroom was larger than sleeping area). The staff, however, was exceptionally nice and helpful. The location for what we wanted to see was a good location, but being at street level was not conducive to sleeping. Provided breakfast was a 5 minute walk to an interim cafe location, which turned out to be closed on Sunday. - Disappointing.

The location was a bit difficult to find but once located it was found to be in a very nice area, with lots of good restaurants and shops. It is walking distance to many of the attractions and a bus stop is right around the corner. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was typical for Italy in this price range.

Residenza Domizia was in the perfect location for my stay - close to all the things I wanted to see and do. They handled my late arrival easily, and the staff were always pleasant and helpful. The bed was a bit on the old side, but really, after walking Rome for 12 hours or so, I barely noticed.

Cute room, lovely spacious bathroom, and really great location! Only complain was that Wifi didn't work in the room so we had to stand in the hallway but other than that, really nice place!

we loved it. we could walk everywhere and the street was charming. Our taxi was able to drop us off right in front of the hotel. Not sure they can do that in peak season. But in January it was not a problem. The room was charming. We had a slight plumbing problem but they fixed it immediately. It is more a guest house than a hotel. We loved out little cafe down the street where we got our morning breakfast. I can't say enough about the location. It was fantastic.

Very convenient location in the middle of the city. Perfect for seeing all the sights. Accomadations are perfect to get some good rest in between walking the streets. Tucked in a quiet street around the corner from Piazza Novana.

overall good; good food and weather was kind; lighting in hotel room was poor and no mention of steep steps up to entrance of residence. TV reception was also poor

First of all, these people were AMAZING! They spent hours helping us get our lost luggage from Alitalia. They went out of their way EVERYTIME we needed help. Thomas and Vido were so helpful, patient and cared about our problems. The location was so great. Everyone seemed to know the 'street of antiquities'. It is 10 minutes from the Vatican, clean, old Italy and about as much charm as you could want or imagine. This is not a modern hotel, but a place you might have stayed at 80 years ago. A step back in time. LOVED IT!

We were in Rome for 3 nights before leaving on a cruise. We had never been to Rome before so this was a pefrect location to get to almost everything - around the corner from Piazza Navona and a 10 minute walk to the Vatican, Pantheon, etc. Its not luxurious but its very clean. The only negatives were (i) its a guest house so nobody mans the front desk in the evening, (ii) the satellite didn't work well so we got didn't get the usual English speaking channels (BBC and CNN) - only Italian, and (iii) the showers are small. But its very reasonably priced, in a great area and has a charm to it. Would definitely stay again.

Had a great stay here. Very clean and safe. In a nice neighborhood, very close to Piazza Navona. Not near the Metro, although few hotels are. Would stay here again.

Our room was so noisey that we could barely sleep at all. The talk, footsteps, and moving furniture from the room above was as if the people were in our room. The hotel is generally clean, though very austerely furnished with few amenities. The location is great, and breakfast at a local bake shop was very nice...but honestly we would never stay there again. Overall, a '2" at best.

We took a taxi from the airport to the hotel which is located on a side street near the Piazza Navona in the old part of Rome. There was no sign for the hotel, just a name next to a buzzer on an apartment building tenant listing. It took us a while to figure out where it was. Once in the door of the building, there was nothing to indicate where the hotel was located. Finally after searching we found a name on the second floor apartment. Once we were let in, we were notified that there was no hot water and we were being transferred to another of their properties- The Guest House. A taxi was called. Once at the new property, we had the same problem locating the "hotel". No one came to the gate. After searching, a lady came out and told us where it was.. It was down a long narrow stairwell. No help was offered to get our bags down the stairs. Once inside, the room was very clean and quite. However, the front desk was only occupied on a part time basis. We were given a set on keys but they did not open all the entry doors. There was a code to the three doors to enter the place but we were not given the code nor slips for the complementary breakfast. We could not get into the building that night and had to wait for another guest to arrive to unlock the doors. Although I am a highly experienced world traveler, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for even the most basic services. Too many hassles.

Great location. Close to Pantheon , piazza navona, trevi fountain. Very secure. Decent room, but nothing like a typical US hotel. I would try another place when I return to Rome

The real drawbacks here are two. First, taxis and buses aren't permitted to drive to the hotel. They drop off arriving passengers about 100 yards away, meaning guests must lug their belongings through a narrow, cobblestone via that can rattle the wheels off a suitcase. Ditto for departure: schlep your way to the taxi stand, about 150 yards fromthe hotel entrance. The hotel itself is part of a larger multi-family building with the only outward identifying mark being a small nameplate on the side of the door, making it difficult to find the entry, which is indistinguishable from others along the via. Drawback No. 2: guests are faced with a daunting obstacle of 17 steep stairs up from the entry to the hotel portion -- quite an exercise carrying a suitcase, carry-on, and purse or camera bag. Don't look for help at the bottom of the stairs; maybe someone will be staffing the check-in desk and can help, but their hours are flexible, and they don't regard themselves as porters. Room itself was clean enough; neighborhood a mix of residential and commercial art and antique shops, easy walking to P. Navonna, Pantheon, et al., and although the free continental breakfast is located in a coffee shop about 100 yards away, the quality of the morning bread, coffee, juice and service is excellent. Room with a view: ours looked into a downtrodden alley.

Although a bit difficult to find (there are two hotels of almost identical names) the service was exceptional and the room was adorable. We were looking for a quaint, local hotel for our stay in Rome and we certainly found it. Breakfast left a little to be desired as it was not on location but offered at two local bars. It mearly consisted of a croissant, coffee, and orange juice, but the price of the hotel certainly made up for it. We could certainly afford a more involved breakfast with the money we saved on accommodations. The hotel is conveniently located to many restaurants, public transports, and walking distance to several "attractions" of Rome. Would definitely recommend...

I chose this hotel, or guest house as it is called, for the location. It is about a 15 minute walk to the Vatican, 10 minute walk to the Panththeon and 20 minute to the Trevi Foutain. Overall the room was nice and clean. I stayed 3 nights and the first night a fuse blew in the middle of the night and I had no lights in my room and no one is at the front desk during the night. The room had windows but very little light came in and it was a little difficult trying to get ready in the morning. The next morning I did tell the front desk about it and when I came back later that evening it was repaired. The third night when our room was cleaned no bathroom tissue was left at all and again no one was at the front desk. The TV never worked the entire time we were there but that was not an issue for us. The neighborhood was quaint and a taxi station was only a few minute walk. The front desk guy let me use his computer with the printer so I could buy tickets to a museum which was helpful.

Hotel was pretty nice. The bathroom was nice as well for an Italian hotel and was newly renovated. No real complaints about this place except a lack of breakfast (I think you get a voucher for one of 2 local cafes). There is some city tax you need to pay on top of the hotel booking. The person at the front desk was accommodating but smoked while at the front desk making us a little uncomfortable. Overall, not bad at all for the location and price.

The location is very good and the apartment is fine. Be careful regarding checking. Weekdays is from 9am to 7pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm and Sunday 9am to 1pm. You better show up in those times or call before arriving. The place was good enough. Again, well placed, big enough, clean enough, a bit noisy and cold (we went at the beginning of the winter). Overall is a good place.

Awesome hotel.....one thing to be aware of....we got there on a Saturday night I think, like 530p....we were dropped off at the alley, walked to our hotel....when we got there, there was a code to get into the main door....like an apartment. (This main door was not directly to the hotel, it lead to several other apartments and the hotel was a renovated apartment to be a hotel)....So we did not know the code. We rang the bell....no answer.....we were stranded. There was a couple however inside the main door . they had arrived and had been waiting 2.5 hours to try to get a hold of someone at this hotel. They said the hotel emailed them the code to get into the front door, but there was no one at the front desk of the hotel! No one told us anything about having to get to the hotel before a certain time. If this couple had not also been stranded, we would have been on the street looking for another hotel. What ended up happening, was at the door of the hotel was a gold canister, in the bottom was an envelope with our last name on it and keys inside saying what room name we were in. We let ourselves into the hotel/apartment door and the front desk was empty. we found a room.....our key fit and we let ourselves in. There was no check in. we then continued for the next 45 minutes trying to help the other couple stranded. they eventually got a hold of someone and they were coming over to the hotel to help this couple.....turns out this couple was staying at a different hotel that this hotel owned, but the address they were given was for this hotel. Anyway.....point being........if you book on hotel.com or whatever else.......call the hotel yourself! Ask for the code to the door and when you need to check in by........this was ridiculous and should have never happened......very unprofessional. This actually happened again to another couple a few nights later.....again didn't know about a check in time.... However, the location was absolutely beautiful! We walked to the Piaz

The owner has 3 hotel locations. This is not clear at all on the Expedia or Hotels.com websites. This review is for 2 locations.The Residenza Domizia is on Via Coronari and the Residenza Domizia Sancti Angeli is across the Ponte Sante Angelo. A friend travelling with us also booked a room as advertised with Hotels.com. She was placed in the Sancti Angeli location and we were in the Coronari location. The Coronari location is on the second floor. There is no lift. The building entrance is shabby with holes in the wall. We were put in a very, very small room that was in poor condition. The glass on the shower stall was falling off. The room did not look like any of the pictures online. No headboard on the bed, no desk. The advertised room amenities (bathtubs w/handheld showerheads, shaving mirrors, ceiling fans) did not exist in the rooms we had. There also is no dining room. We paid for a double room with breakfast buffet included. There was no breakfast buffet. We were given a coupon for a coffee and a croissant to be redeemed at a local cafe next door to the Sancti Angeli location but about a 5 min. walk from the Coronari location. The 5 rooms in the Sancti Angeli location were very nice and updated, with sufficient room for two people. We asked to be moved to that location (to be with our friend) and we wanted to stay in the nicer place since we paid for 7 nights stay. The owner/manager was very accomodating and he switched our room to the other location after two nights. Both residences are close to Rome sights. BUT, next time I book, I would be specific and only book the Sancti Angeli location.

this hotel was in an amazing location. quiet alley yet near piazzo navona. only weird thing was having to walk up some stairs and enter a locked doorway to get there, and no real attendant after hours or services... so once you check in, it's kind of like staying in someone's really nice apartment. the staff at the front desk is super nice and helpful. oh, and awesome showers- small but powerful.

We had a wonderful experience! The room is small by American standards but very comfortable, clean and a wonderful place to return to after a long day of sightseeing. Air conditioning was great and I would recommend sleeping with ear plugs as the walls are a little thin and if a family is staying next door it can get loud. That said things were very quiet throughout the night. This is not a wheelchair accessible location and you will have several flights of stairs - I slid my suitcase down the staircase which worked just fine :-)

Great location. A little difficult to find but near to Piazza Navonne. Lots of very nice restaurants within a very short walk. Lacking some of the conveniences of a standard hotel and the stairs are a challenge with luggage but we would stay there again.

We wanted a cute hotel that wasn't to expensive in a great location and we were not disappointed! The room was stylish and clean, the location was perfect and it was fantastic value! We managed to explore the whole of Rome on foot from this location, and the surrounding area at night is brilliant! Lots of little cafe's and bar's dotted in the wonderful little streets. If I could, I would move there tomorrow!

After reading the reviews of this hotel we decided to give it a try. This is the most ideal location to stay in Rome. Literally 1 minute from the Piazza Navona and walking distance to every point in ancient Rome. It's not your typical large hotel - no amenities. From the outside it appears like a residential apartment and once you get to the second floor you enter what appears to be an apartment but is instead the entrance to the lobby and other rooms. Each room has a name instead of a number - we stayed in the appropriately named "Piazza Navona". The room was very clean, spacious and charming - completely unexpected for the very reasonable price we paid. Our room overlooked a quiet side street and had 2 large windows with a Juliet style balcony. It was very quiet at night. The rooms are wired for internet access so bring an Ethernet cable with you - I was not able to catch a wireless signal but the wired worked perfectly and was free. There was no in-room safe but they did have a small fridge which was nice. They also have another building with additional rooms across the street, which is where breakfast is served - your basic croissants, cereal and coffee - nothing fancy but nice to have nevertheless. If you happen to get a room here, you will likely hear some noise during breakfast hours - if you are up by 8am then it shouldn’t be an issue, but if you are a late sleeper then try getting a room in the main building. Otherwise we really loved the place and would stay here again. If you need only a room for few days then you can't go wrong.

Hotellet ligger i et koselig område i Roma med mange småbutikker, kafeer og ikke minst - mange gode restauranter! Rommet var enkelt og rent, noe lytt mellom rommene og ned til gaten. Hyggelig betjening. Kan anbefales!

Bien que la chambre soit grande et agréable, elle manque de luminosité car la fenêtre donne sur un mur. Elle se trouve en réalité à plusieurs centaines de mètres de l'emplacement indiqué sur le site hotels.com. Le petit déjeuner inclus dans le prix est servi dans le café du coin et est limité à une seule viennoiserie, une boisson chaude et un jus de fruit. Enfin nous n'avons pas eu d'eau chaude pendant notre séjour de 4 jours, nous l'avons pourtant signalé à plusieurs reprises. Le site annonçait la mise a disposition d'un peignoir et de chaussons que nous n'avons jamais vus.

Veldig god beliggenhet mitt i smørøyet. Et minus at vi fikk rom ved en annen adresse enn hovedadressa som er oppgitt på nettsidene (de har flere avdelinger). Hyggelig og hjelpsom personale, men da de skulle bestille taxi til flyplassen for oss, skulle de ha 60 euro for en taxitur som egentlig koster 30 euro, så anbefaler ikke å benytte dem til hjelp som dette. Liten, søt, men god frokost i hyggelig kafé.

Hotellet ligger på 3 adresser og vi var uheldige at få værelse lige ud til meget trafikeret kryds. Det var ikke hvad vi forventede ud fra adresse og foto på hjemmeside.

Hotel parfaitement situe, tout est accessible a pied en 15 min. Seul point negatif: notre chambre etait situee en face de l'entree et donc reveil systematique a 8h30 du matin par les conversations du receptionniste avec les clients. Petit dejeuner frugal dans le petit bar-tabac du coin, mais ambiance tres agreable.

Perfekt läge med gångavstånd till många intressanta platser. Lyhört ut mot trapphall men i övrigt mycket trevligt.

Det började mindre bra, vi kom på kvällen ca 20:30 och receptionen var stängd! Ingen upplysning hade vi fått om detta. Per telefon löste det sig. Vi bodde i ett annat hus, rummet var stort, till badrummet kom man via en lång smal tunnel....pittoreskt. Frukostkuponger som gällde på en bar i närheten, en kopp kaffe, ett glas juice och en croissant. Bra sängar, rent och snyggt.

Our hotel room was clean, comfortable and for that price it was huge. We loved it and had a great stay and would definitely recommend it to everyone. The staff was very kind and the location was absolutely perfect. Thank you for the great visit. We will come again!

Hotellet ligger bra till geografiskt. De flesta sevärdheterna ligger inom 20 min promenadavstånd. Fina rum och fräscha toaletter. Frukosten består av en croissant, kaffe och juice, inte buffé.

Som sagt perfekt placering. 2min ifran piazza navona med narheten till bade vatikanstaten samt colloseum. Dock relativt trakig personal, men helt ok. rena rum som stadades varje dag. det enda negativa var egentligen att nar vi kom dit sent pa kvallen behovde man ett losenord for att oppna dorren nagot som vi i all stress infor resan glomt att fraga om. ngt som maste framga betyldigt tydlgiare pa bokningssidan. summa summarum sa skulle jag definitivt rek. ngn att bo har. och atervander jag blir d samma hotel.

Startede på et værelse ud til gaden, hvor larmen om natten var ulidelig. Om morgenen var vandet i bruseren iskold, så vi bad om et nyt værelse, som vi fik med det samme. Dette var rigtig godt -dog var "dobbeltsengen" kun 110 cm, men det fungerede alligevel :)

Fantastisk sted med fantastisk beliggenhed. Hotellet kan varmt anbefales.

Hotellet (eller rettere lejligheden) ligger fremragende tæt på Piazza Navona, restauranter, butikker, og kun 10 minutters gang fra Vatikanet, Castel Angelo, Pathenon. Det er også muligt at gå til Colosseum på en halv time. Værelset er stort og badeværelset er stort (med karbad) men der var aldrig varmt vand nok til at fylde det op. Sengen knirkede så højt at man vågnede af det! Støjen fra gaden er høj og morgenmaden er blot et stykke kage og en kop kaffe. Vi havde en god ferie med 7 overnatninger, men værelset inventar måtte gerne være nyere.
