We were across the hall from a smoking room. I did not realize there were still smoking rooms. If that is the case they should have better ventilation as you would have thought they were smoking in our room.

This was the only hotel available in the area and I can see why. The employees were rude, it smelled like a dingy basement and the condition of the interior was a joke. There were holes in the wall and shower curtain and the "crib" they offered was stained with God knows what. They didn't have extra pillows or blankets and gave you a hard time when asking for an extra towel. My family will not be returning to his hotel and I reccommended you don't either.

The 2nd floor rooms are much nicer than the 1st floor ones.

I stayed at this hotel mainly for price and location. It was a good hotel for what I needed it for (I had an interview at Iowa State University). All the main necessities (iron/ironing board, blowdryer, microwave and refrigerator) were in good condition and were clean. The bathroom was clean and house keeping did their job: cleaned and replenished the room and bathroom. Desk staff was informative and friendly. Overall I am happy that I stayed at the Days Inn in Ames.

Room was clean, beds were comfortable, water was hot, and the place was a ten-minute walk away from my son's apartment. That's all I wanted. Decor was pedestrian and halls were dingy, so it wasn't a place to hang out, but it was a great place to bathe and sleep.

Hotel manager tried to break into one of our rooms at 2:30am, but thankfully we had the deadbolt in. When asked why, he did not give a reasonable answer. Manager also was unreasonably furious when we tried to point out that the price we had prepaid was given by hotels.com and we had already paid in full, when he charged is extra for every person in the room. Stay away.

I'm not a finicky traveler. This place is a dump. It's dirty and poorly kept.

I reserved 5 rooms for an alumni get-together.......everyone was pleased with their room....honestly, our room could have been a little clearner.

The beds were not very comfortable. The bedspreads hung way over the beds. They were not made very well. We have to be in Ames again soon and I wont stay at this Days Inn.

I stayed at this hotel room for 4 nights. It is a great hotel. Rooms are spacious, clean and front desk is friendly.

After some very bad experiences this was the best Days Inn I've ever stayed at.

The location is the best thing in regards to this hotel. Convenient access to anywhere in Ames. The hotel room was old needs repair. There was mold on the ceiling and around the shower. You are only allowed two towels per room There were 4 of us staying in the room. The continental breakfast was terrible. The best part of the continental breakfast was the coffee. The food was stale and had been sitting out for some time. You definitely get what you pay for at this hotel. We would only return if it was the last available room.

I liked the hotel and stay again when I visit AMES . Staff very helpful and positive . Excellent hotel for the price . centrally located and all eating places and markets are located at walking distance. overall good place to stay at low price.

I am very pleased to say that the location was very convenient. I was there for the move-in period just before my daugther's start at ISU as a freshman and it was so close to everything! University grounds, department stores and restaurants. The access in route to Des Moines ariport is a plus. The room was clean and employees where friendly. I will definitely stay here again.

The stay wasn't horrible except for a shower faucet that needed to be replaced. Hotel staff was aware of it on my first night but didn't replace it before my final night. If this had been done, it would have been a satisfactory stay, but....

Very basic, nothing special. Even the 'discount' rate was a little high for the quality of this hotel. Good location in Ames.

What ever happened to customer service? We arrived into town early and asked for early check in. Owner was rude. Insisted no one can check in early. When we left to go to neighboring restaurant, housekeepers were sitting outside smoking and using foul language. (Not impressive) When we returned two hours later, housekeepers still outside smoking. (No wonder no one can check in early. ) At 4 pm the housekeepers were still cleaning rooms. Definitely will stay elsewhere next time.

Everything about the room was OK, except for the bathroom. The shower curtain had two large holes in it, which caused a mess on the floor and the shower rod was almost falling off the wall. The second room we had rented had some mold on its shower curtain. There was a sign saying they were in the process of remodeling.... The beds were actually very nice.n One other minor thing was that the parking spaces are incredibly small.

The lobby is very small when you enter. The staff wasn't very friendly. There was a stale, musky smell in the hallway which was strong. It dissipates upon entering the room. The room was clean, beds were comfortable. For rhe orice and the convenience to ISU we can overlook the negatives. I woud not do an extended stay here but an overnight is sufficient.

Handy location to Main Street attractions for a reasonable price. Nice breakfast selection.

Our room was recently renovated, very nice and clean. Breakfast was included with decent options. The only issue was the A/C was not working properly in our room. Otherwise, I think it is a good value.

All they had was a smoking room, which was horrible. The walls were thin and it was noisy.

Although it seems line many Days Inns still smell smokey. They're remodeling this one, hopefully it'll smell better when done. Do appreciate the coffee maker, microwave & frig, tho.

We were looking for a hotel near the Iowa State campus, and this hotel was conveniently located. The room was affordable and clean, but very cramped. To their credit, they seemed to be in the middle of some renovations (as witnessed by a great deal of furniture in the hallways), but the room as extremely small and cramped. The staff was not overly friendly when we checked in, but they were also not rude. The complimentary breakfast was quite limited, and they were closing everything down a little early, but the manager stepped in to replenish a few of the items specifically for us, which was very kind of him. While I would not highly recommend this hotel, I would not discourage people from staying there, as it was acceptable.

A basic, low frills motel, but with a friendly staff, comfortable beds; a nice place to stay for a modest cost.

It's a Days Inn in Ames, IA. If you're expecting the Ritz you'll be disappointed, but for a cheap room close to the Iowa State campus it fit the bill. The security door didn't work on our end of the building but we never had a problem. I also had the inside handle of the room door come off in my hand when I was trying to leave in the morning. It's an easy fix and I told the manager as I was checking out, and he said they'd get right on it. Overall, certainly worth the price paid and very nice to be in walking distance of the campus and some bars.

I would not recommend the hotel, it is run down and smells. The continental breakfast was pathetic - watched the attendant drop doughnuts on the floor right in front of us. Fortuntely he did not put them out to eat, but the overall quality was poor.

I listed special instructions, such as I wanted a room by 11:00 AM and I wanted a hot tub, and when I got there, no one knew about these special request. And if they did know they made no attempt to contact me to let me know they could not accommodate me. Finally after I agreed to pay an additional $25.00, then they could find an available room.

When we arrived, there were bags of garbage sitting in the hallway, partially blocking the door to our room. The room had a damp, moldy smell and wallpaper was peeling; lacked proper maintenance. When we walked into the office to check out, the staff-member at the desk made a derisive comment about a customer who had just left--completely unprofessional. These are the sorts of things we would expect if we had paid half the price for this stay--absolutely unacceptable for the price of the room.

well, thought initially room looked clean and on the surface it was. But then our phone didn't work at all, so we had to check the plug in and in doing so found sitting, just as we lifted the dust ruffle right in our faces were dirty used kleenex's. Yuck. The phone line was plugged in so went to check around the phone and the phone was sticky! Then tried to turn on a light so I could see better to check on the phone and the light didn't work and it felt disgusting! We were grossed out as it made us wonder....alot! The phone never did work and asked for help with it but didn't get any and the light between the beds by the phone we never got working either! It was to be a room for 5 people. 3 adults and 2 children. We had only 2 towels so asked for some and had to call again as they forgot them so it got later and later. Needless to say, I was not impressed. I tried not to be too picky but the more I ran across the more I regretted making my registration with Days Inn in Ames. Liek the price and thought it was fair but really expected things to be working and clean. All in all I was disappointed. Oh yeah, also the card slide thing on the side door to get in was broken and the note said just pull hard and it was taped up with duct tape. Didn't make me feel to comfy at all!!

This hotel was perfect for our short "move-in-day" stay. It is close to ISU campus, clean, friendly, helpful. The breakfast is just ok and the breakfast room very small for all us college families. The parking lot is small, but next door business allows parking. I will definitely stay here again as the positives exceed the slight inconveniences.

Not good. The whole motel stunk, and our room was the stinkiest. The "breakfast" was stale donuts. Will not stay here again, rather sleep in my car.

It was a good location and close to the places I needed to be,Will stay again

The hotel is decent, maybe a little over priced. The front desk girl was really nice. The location was alright. I found an old pizza box behind the tv though.
