The hotel was really nice, however our room was obviously a smoking room and smelled like cigarettes despite thinking we booked a non-smoking room. At night the hallway was very loud with other guests which I think we're school-aged group, which we let the reception know about the next day but wasn't really didn't acknowledge the situation. decent location to the main sights and city center.

The location of the hotel was great; about a ten minute walk from the main attractions. The hotel in general was excellent with modern and very clean rooms. The room was a good size with a good level furniture and fittings. The room was cleaned every day to a very good standard. Plenty of towels, soaps etc. Reception staff were polite and courteous but could have been a bit more friendly. Avoid a room near to the lift shaft. The lift mechanism noise could be heard in our room which was next to the lift shaft. Choose a room that is not near to the lift shaft.

Good Location, short walk to all attractions and Metro. Avoid Room 307 and possibly 107/207/407 & 507. All these rooms are at the end of the corridor and beside the cleaners store rooms where they gather at 6.30 each morning and make alot of noise.Also the walls are like paper, you can hear everything. I had no more than 2 hours sleep each night.

My husband and I stayed in hotel Ganivet for four nights during the Christmas-New Year's season. The hotel's location is a ten minute walk from Plaza Mayor and other Madrid attractions, which was very convenient. As for the hotel itself, we enjoyed an excellent breakfast buffet, with a variety of breads, eggs, fruit, cereal and vegetables, which was also included in the price given to us by Hotels.com. What we did not appreciate in this hotel was: a. One of the front desk staff was not friendly nor patient. b. We could hear all the noise outside of our room in both the hallway and the rooms around ours. It seems that there is no insulation in the walls. As a result we were up all night and it affected the enjoyment of our stay.

I would really recommend the Hotel Ganivet for all those, who are planning to visit Madrid. Its centrally located with a very close Metro station and all major tourist spots are walkable distance from the Hotel. The Hotel staff is really very friendly and can provide you nice tips for your stay in Madrid. I would definitely choose Hotel Ganivet for my future visits to Madrid

The hotel is in convince location. Clean and comfort room. The hotel staffs are friendly and very helpful. We were happy stay and would like recommend this hotel to our friends.

Overall this is a great hotel for the price. The location is also ideal, near enough to the center of Madrid.

Hotel staff was very friendly and cooperative. Help with checking in for flight and printing boarding passes. Breakfast was excellent even though it cost 10 euro extra. Located conveniently to a supermarket and walking to all the sights.

This hotel is within short walking distance of two metro stops. There is free wifi access in the hotel room. Air conditioning worked great. Elevators provide access to all floors. A recommended hotel for anyone considering a budget stay. A 10-15 minute walk to Plaza Mayor or Puerta del Sol.

It is good hotel having very good breakfast arrangement. Most conveniently located from Metro and City tour stations. Rates are bit high compared to other hotels available

Please note this hotel is across the street from a nightclub. I was kept awake from 12-6am from music from the club and noise in the street

Nothing fancy about this hotel, but it was clean and very convenient for seeing the sights of Madrid. A 2 minute walk from Puerto de Toledo Metro straiten and 5-10 minute walk to Plaza Mayor. The staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English. If you don't want a full breakfast, don't bother paying the extra charge, The bar does a very nice little range of continental breakfasts (e.g. coffee/tea, orange juice, toast or coissant) for a reasonable cost.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Bravo !! Excellent location convenient to metro and main attractions within 10 to 15 minutes. Quite easy to flag down a taxi in front of hotel. Free internet very helpful. Water dispenser on each floor needs work because there is no hot water. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Hotel Ganivet was a wonderfully located hotel. Extremely close to 2 Metro stations (Puerta de Toledo) Very close to Rastro, Plaza Mayor and Gran Via. Highly recommend to others.

The hotel is located close to La Puerta de Toledo and walking distance to the Plaza Mayor. Good restaurants around it and friendly staff. Ill come back to this hotel.

This motel was very clean and very nice. The only complaint I had was the location. It is in a younger part of the city where there are more clubs than social bars like you find elsewhere. If that is what your looking for then it is great. However I would recommend a motel more central.

Hotel Ganivet was excellent value, well-positioned and better than many 4 star hotels. Very good cafeteria within hotel.

The hotel is right next to a metro station, and in the city center, with Plaza Mayor and other major sights within walking distance. Modern rooms with confortable bathroom. We really enjoyed this hotel, although we didn't buy the breakfast buffet so I can't speak for it.

hotel is close to everything important especially the metro. staff were helpful and friendly.

Reasonable but not as good as we expected that i found it from online comment. The lady helped me check-in is not friendly on 1st day.(at least i feel uncomfortable). Then I went to downstair for asking some enquiries on 2nd night, the front desk was no staff but i found the guy stand in front of the tv for football(socceer) next to the receiption. Despite someone told me this is their working style in Europe, i hope to enjoy a nice service when i paid for such service business. Also, good service is very important for a tourist in outside area.

Pro's: Close to metro, close to sights, clean room and no complaints. Cons: Only one I can think of is that on a hot day with lots of luggage the hotel is up a slight hill so it can get hot and sweaty but not a reason not to stay there.

A little bit off the tourist track but still very easy to get to all the main sights with a metro stop about half a block away. Nice neighborhood with local-type restaurants. Cool, modern looking lobby. Very quiet at night, definitely a plus. Wifi in the rooms was wonderful. Room was small but clean and they offered free bottled water, a nice touch. All in all I would recommend it to someone looking to be out of the tourist chaos of Sol.

The Hotel rooms were big and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is really good, walking distance to main town.

Everything was great! All front desk staff were very kind and helpful! Clean, clean hotel and very quiet. Check out is at noon and my bus didn't leave till midnight, but the hotel has free bag check after check out which is one of the biggest stress relievers a hotel can offer!

The hotel is very modern and clean. It is literally 2 mins from the metro station at Puerto de Toledo. On arrival the staff were courteous and efficient. The hotel is clean with free wi-fi (which is very easy to operate) The area is fantastic for local tapas restaurants and bars as well as quirky shops - it feels like 'real life Madrid' as opposed to being 'touristy.' Prices are also very cheap locally! Saying that, it is still only a 10 min walk to the main centre of this amazing City. The Metro is only 1euro to go anywhere in Madrid (apart from the airport which is 2euros) We ate in the hotel a few times and prices were very reasonable. Food was good and service fantastic. Everytime we ordered a drink, the barman would bring us food such as crisps, sandwiches or canapes - all included in the price. I would definitely go back to Madrid and would not hesitate in staying at Hotel Ganivet again! First Class!

Well located close to the subway and only a 10 minute walk from the tapas hotspot of La Latina and Plaza Mayor. We arrived at 9:30am from our night flight and were pleasantly surprised to be able to checkin right away. Staff were not particularly welcoming and made us feel as if we were inconviencing them when we asked for information. The buffet breakfast was expensive but was very extensive and worth it if you like a big feast in the morning. Overall good value due to its location just outside the main tourist area.

A very good location, close to tapas bars and plaza Mayor, as well as a metro stop a block away. The beds do move a little too easy, but overall I was very happy with this hotel.

Near all the main sights

The hotel was great and its location near Plaza Major in the La Latina neighborhood made it especially pleasant.

Clean, nicely furnished rooms. Great decor. VERY close to the Toledo metro stop. Sadly, the metro was on strike, but the hotel location was only a 5 minute walk from Plaza Mayor. We walked to the plaza, Sol, Gran Via, the Prado with no problem at all. I WILL book this hotel again. Note: laundry service is not free. It was quite pricey, but that was my fault for not asking. All things considered, lovely stay.

Whilst well located for sightseeing central Madrid the hotel is located on a busy road and a nightclub open until 4am is located immediately opposite. The room was clean but had no tea or coffee making facilities and the bed continually moved away from the wall unless you remained perfectly still. Sitting up to read ended up shooting across the room. Our room was also directly opposite the cleaners store who thought it alright to stand and prepare their trolleys and chat early each morning. Do not go here if you want a quiet and relaxing stay.

Good location. Close to the metro and in walking distance to some of the greatest tapas places. The reception was not really that friendly though (after I overheard them being rude to another elderly couple, I figured we weren't the only ones they were unfriendly to). When we arrived both of our sheets were dirty, but they changed them right away when we asked.

The room and bathroom were clean and pretty spacious. The location was SO great. A block from metro Puerta de Toledo in one direction and an adorable delicious bakery in the other. Also very close to the shopping at Puerta del Sol. I didn't eat the breakfast offered by the hotel, because other reviews said it was over priced. There was one concierge who was rude to me. A tall white haired man who worked at night. Other than that, the staff was very nice.

This was great location for Madrid. Parking was in the hotel. The Hotel was within a couple of minutes walk from all of the main attractions including the mayors plaza, Royal Palace, Cathedrals , Museums and city centre.

clean rooms but no fridges in room. our room had nothing spectacular to see form the window. room a/c was not that effective. Very close to the underground therefore reasonable to use for sightseeing in Madrid. Reception was reasonable with their english.

Great hotel in good location for metro or walking. Quiet air-conditioned room. Fridge/tea-making facilities would improve, but overall clean and comfortable. Modern style.
