This is a great hotel. I stayed a night here after having 4 nights at Keio Plaza in a not so great room there. Rooms are smaller, but very nicely laid out so you have plenty of space. The location has the great little quarter called Golden Gai right behind it. This is the place to have fun in Tokyo, I especially liket Champions karaoke bar and the people there. On the front side of the hotel is the start of the Kabukicho district, be careful what you do there, many pushy people going after your money. Money is better spend in the Golden Gai. Hotel cleanliness was great, it's all new, I was on the 11th floor and did not hear a sound, slept like a rock on the comfortable bed. Highly recommend this place. 15 minute easy walk to Shinjuku station.

Kabukicho probably isn't for everybody, but it's a very sanitised redlight district - not something to be concerned about safety-wise. It's very close to the Shinjuku train station, which is great base for exploring Tokyo, and there are plenty of varied eating options around the neighbourhood, not to mention the excellent Golden Gai bar scene in the blocks behind the hotel. The hotel is easy to find, the reception speak sufficient English for tourists, and the room is small but adequate for tourists that don't sped the day lounging in their hotel room. I recommend it.

The hotel was very hard to find from the directions on the booking email from Hotels.com, and we had to ask for directions from a passer-by. Information about which exit to take from the Shinjuku JR station (East or Central East for reference) and a bit more information about the street name would have been helpful. Loved the hotel room on sight - for Japan, it was new, well appointed, reasonably sized and had a modern bathroom.The hotel itself was fine, only complaint was that the buffet breakfast was probably the worst buffet breakfast I've ever had (powdered eggs, ham boiled in water and fried chicken - terrible!). There is a Lawson convenience store on the ground floor of the hotel building though, so this made getting a quick meal quite easy, and a 7-11 about three doors down, good for travelers needing an international ATM. The hotel had a coin laundry, which wasn't advertised, but was so incredibly helpful. The television having BBC News was also a treat. The front desk staff were also knowledgeable about the area and other tourist information we needed.The hotel itself is located in a pretty dicey red light district, but there are a lot of good restaurants and bars within walking distance, and the train station is very close.

Beautiful rooms, fantastic service, and all in a fun, "never sleeps" nightlife district (I was there with my 17 year old son and had no concerns about the seediness. Just not a big deal) that is close to a major JR station. But the best part was the breakfast buffet. Holy cow! It was both Japanese and American style ranging from cereal, toast and eggs to miso soup, broiled mackerel, and assorted other Japanese delicacies that I can't name but they were amazing. And the coffee was divine. This is not the Best Western economy hotel I"m used to in the U.S.! Only complaint is that the pillows were hard (seems to be a Japanese thing).

Reasonably good hotel at a good price and great location, close to the Shinjuku railway station. Lots of bars and restaurants in the immediate surrounding area. Rooms very nice and clean, and a reasonable size for Japan. The only downside really was that the WiFi was only available in the lobby area. It was quite surreal to see so many people on smartphones/tablet PCs quietly using their devices in the hotel lobby. I would recommend this hotel. The breakfast buffet was limited but nice, and the staff were all polite. We left some items in the safe at a previous hotel and the staff here rang the other hotel and arranged for the items to be forward to us.

Clean, quiet and close to the big Shinjuku station. The staff is polite (just like everyone in Japan, it seems) and their english is good. The hotel is situated inside the big red lights district - Kabukicho - but during the day one wouldn't know it, and at night the only hassle may be a couple of guys on the sidewalk inviting to this or that strip joint, not mor than that.

Although this hotel is located in the red light district in Shinjuku, it is still very safe and we were not harrassed at all. The location is also very centralized to the rest of the other districts. The train station is less than 10 minute walk away - easiest access is use the East Exit. There are many noodle shops, banks and various store shopping nearby. The famous landmark is Mister Donuts which was also great for snackage and the convenient Lawson's store outside in front of the hotel elevator. The only weird thing is the outside hotel main entrance - you have to take the elevator to the 3rd floor to get to the lobby. Lobby looks more like a modern "W" hotel. Although the room size is small which is probably typical of Tokyo, it is very very clean. The bed was comfy. Also convenient was the wi-fi hook-up and it is wireless in the hotel lobby. The bathroom is very clean and modern. Loved the bigger sized toiletries. The room was always serviced every day. And another good value was the inclusive daily buffet breakfast. We left energized prior to our daily tourist excursions and walkabouts. The staff was very kind, English-speaking and helpful with any sightseeing or room issue questions. Also convenient was the laundry room on the 7th floor. We would definitely come back again to stay here! We loved all of Tokyo!

This hotel is a bit far from shinjuku JR station, but still not too hard to find. Not a bad choice even when compared to other well-known hotels in Shinjuku if you don't have too much to carry. The interior is not too spacious, but is clean and neat. Breakfast is recommendable. We had quite a good stay here during X'mas and the hotel wrote us a little sweet X'mas greeting :)

This hotel is within walking distance of the JR Shinjuku station, the rooms are small but modern and the buffet breakfast, which was included was OK with amix of Japanese and western on offering. Can't be beat for value for money. The location may put some people off with all the bars.

We stayed there for 2 nights . It takes us 13mins to walk from jr station to reach the hotel but the hotel is not that easy to locate. The room size is just nice for two and it is clean and very comfortable,We had buffet breakfast at their restaurant and the spread is good . I would definitely come back to stay .

this is a nice hotel in Shinjuku, not very far away from the main station. nice environment, not noisy, nice spot.

Locates in the mid of Shinjuku. Close by the train station, shopping malls and restaurants. May not be good for family as in the center of the red-light district

Great room. Great Staff. Great location. I will cone here again.

The bedrooms and bathrooms in this hotel are surprising spacious by Japan standards. It is conveniently located near the metro and three major department stores. One can also find many reasonably priced restaurants and countless bars in this nightlife district. For some people, albeit not others, the only drawback (or extra attraction) is the unbelievable amount of people soliciting business (along the road leading to the hotel and beyond) for the nightclubs in the narrow alleys nearby.

The Best Western Shinjuku hotel still living up to it's standard as one fine hotel. Our visit to Tokyo was improved a lot and easier due to the Best Western. Breakfast was very good, internet service and cleanliness of the room very nice. From the beguining to the end this hotel deserves our highest recommendation. It is located close to restaurants, shopping area, and train station. Also in the back of the hotel it is a quiet typical japanese area which is ideal for walking thru very narrow streets.

This hotel is very nice and clean considering the rate we paid. You can't beat the location, 5 mins walk to JR and Metro, tons of shops, restaurants nearby. The best is there is Lawson downstair so you can get any stuff you forget to pack, get a quick lunch and purchase museum/amusement park tickets there! The complimentary breakfast buffet is quite good in terms of tastes and food choices. Front desk staff speaks very good english. Although the hotel is located near red light district, it is very safe to get around. Room is small but very typical Asian hotel room size, we like the amenities kit, which is way more completed set than alot of US hotel with the same price range.

Strongly recommend. Very good location. Clean. Cozy. The hotel has a good view of the skyscrapers of the western side Shinjuku (8-13 floors) . Excellent japanese breakfast.

The hotel was very good. Location is also very good because Shinjuku station is one of the main stations in Tokyo, but do be aware that this is Tokyo's red light district. It's perfectly safe, but if the brothels and ads disturb you then this is not the best place for you. The only problems we had were: * the bathroom's sink basin was broken * the pillows were horrible (they're filled with something that felt like drinking straws cut up into little pieces)!!! They do have some feather ones, but it appears like their stock is pretty limited because we were only able to get one (the front desk said that they didn't have any more in stock) * the front desk employees are not the friendliest ones. Being Japan, you would expect incredibly hospitable individuals, but on the contrary, they are bordering onthe lines of rude. One was definitely rude (male), but one of the girls was very nice. I would definitely recommend the hotel, but we do believe that these are some details that can be improved. R

This is a fine hotel, as far as the hotel itself is concerned. It's a normal size for a hotel in Tokyo, although it may even be a bit smaller than normal. Nice bathroom, TV is small but fine, the room is furnished with modern furniture, etc. The hotel staff was nice enough, although since I speak Japanese I wasn't able to test out their English skills. Still, there were a number of foreigners at this hotel so I'm assuming that their English ability is at least passable. One slight complaint is that you have to take two elevators to get out of the hotel. One to get to the lobby and then one to leave the building. This is fairly annoying, although it's not the end of world. The location is the main selling point/drawback of this hotel. To reach the hotel when coming from the airport, you're either going to have to drag your bags from the train station, about an 8 minute slog through heavy foot traffic, or take a $15 taxi ride from said station. Annoying, but forgivable. Shinjuku in the day and early evening hours is fantastic. Lots of shops, lots of restaurants, lively atmosphere, it's a fun place to be. The train station is also a major hub, which means that you can easily access the rest of the city without having to deal with a number of transfers. The drawback is that this hotel is located in Kabukicho, which is essentially one big red light district. This might be fine for some people, but after 9 PM you can't walk to the hotel from the station without getting accosted by about a dozen "proprietors" trying to get you to spend your time and money with their "employees." This has a very slimy feel to it, and it doesn't help that as you walk to the hotel you pass a number of establishments that specialize in such services, with large signs featuring pictures of scantily clad women. Under NO circumstances should you go to this hotel if you have children. Also of this is the type of thing that puts you off, you're better off using one of the other hotels in the

It was one of the best hotel service I've experienced in a while. For a mid-range hotel, Best-Western has done an excellent job with their customer service as well as keeping the room just elegantly clean. Would love to stay here again.

convenience location but no wifi in room is mins-

the hotel very clean the staff very helpful the offer their help to organise the local tours, provide information about the area, the location was great close to train, metro shopping mall and the night clubs and there is a supermarket on level one the streets are alive and people having fun but our room was very quiet you do not hear anything the room was big the shower was the best we ever seen we strongly recommend the best western hotel if you are going to visit tokyo

The hotel has a good location. Just have to ignore the touts. The condition of the lobby and rooms are great. The toilet is huge but the bed is small. It's great to have a 24 hour conveniene store at the ground floor.

This is a very nice hotel. The rooms are clean and comfy, and they let you skip room cleaning a few days out of your stay if you would like in exchange for a 500 yen/day voucher for the hotel (good for lunch in the hotel restaurant, for example). The hotel is right in Shinjuku which has tons of shops and restaurants and is not very far from the train station. Finding it at first is a challenge, though. Shinjuku is hard to navigate: 1. Take the East Exit of JR Shinjuku station 2. Go down the little street with the Comme Ca store on your left and the gigantic crab on your right. 3. Turn left when you see "Shinjuku Beer Hall" 4. Cross the big street, keeping BICcamera on your right and OIOI on your left. 5. At the next street, cross and keep the Mister Donuts on your right. 6. The hotel is above the Lawson Convenience Store on the right side of the road.

The location was great. We found easy directions online for the hotel from the shinjuku subway stop and it was easy to find. You don't need to take a cab because it will cost you a fortune. Take these directions. Looks more complicated than you think but once you're there it's really easy. Directions... I walked from Shinjuku station with a rollabord bag in tow, and I had no problem. If you would like to try this, exit the station at the East exit (not the Central East exit). When you reach the East exit, look for the stairway that is marked "For Kabuki-cho." When you reach ground level, you will see two adjacent towers - one is Mizuho Bank and the second has a sign "STAARRT". You will want to take the street that is between these two towers (ABC Mart on the street level) - this is a one-block pedestrian street and there is a branch of CitiBank in the block. At the end of this block will be a busy street - turn to your right and cross the busy street at the next crosswalk . You will see a Mister Donut store on the corner - this is the street where the Best Western Hotel is located. The sign for the hotel is not very obvious - it is easy to walk past the place. Keep a lookout for the Lawson's store on the ground level, and the elevator to the hotel front desk on the third floor. The hotel is basically in the center of everything. An easy walk to all parts of shinjuku. The staff was so helpful when we asked them about getting transportation for the airport. They looked up our flight and found out which terminal and which wing we needed to be at. This saved us at the end because we were running late so already knowing which wing to go to and which terminal saved us time. The breakfast was good and nice because they have breakfast until 11am. Since I have been traveling for 14 days in china right before this I woke up late the next morning and was still able to make it to breakfast. I'd definitely recommend this place! Loved it!

Good location, good services, clean hotel at center of city.

My experience with ASTINA shinjuku hotel is overall very good, the staff was friendly and the hotel was in good condition in term of comfort & cleanliness. Very convenience to nearby train stations.

I would recommend this hotel as its new, clean & modern. I also like its location, easily accessible, near to shinjuku station, convenient store just right at the hotel & they have a nice breakfast selection.

I stayed at the Best Western in Shinjuku for 2 nights. Excellent location and excellent service. The rooms are small, but very clean and well appointed.

Very nice hotel - comfortable bed, air conditioning that worked very well. The front desk staff members were exceptional. The shower had good pressure and good temperature. The walk from Shinjuku station with a rolling suitcase was OK once I knew the directions. My problem was the touts outside that were constantly trying to get me into a hostess bar. The Kabuki-cho area is full of these places and they employ guys who work the streets to try to find customers. The area itself had a lot of other nice restaurants and stuff, but I could not walk around in the evening without being bothered. I never felt unsafe, but it was a nuisance. Overall, a good hotel - I will probably stay here again, but would be prepared for the lack of an evening stroll.

The hotel is nice, good location and great breakfast... however, we did not like the hotel's policies... which included very strict check-in and check-out time. Regardless of its occupancy rate (they were clearly not full), the hotel flat out refuses guests to check in early or check out late.. even within 2-hour windows. Everything is chargeable. On first day, we asked if we can have the breakfast today in exchange for the breakfast tomorrow. The answer is no for everything that was not specified in the contract. We then asked if we skip breakfast the next day, can we get vouchers (because I read that it was possible)? Answer? Take a wild guess! Not very customer-centric in my view... and really left a bad impression. This is the service industry.... they should understand that they are not just there to implement the hotel rules. It got to a point where I cannot be bothered to talk to the reception for anything else. We did find a few hotels behind that charges a cheaper rate (30% lower) with better facilities (Wii games, better showers..etc)... but they also charge in 3-hour blocks, if you know what I mean. But base on my experience with this hotel, I don't mine giving other hotels in Shinjuku a try.

- too far from Shinjuku JR station - no wifi @ room but only at the lobby for which is very unstable. - reception cant really understand english for tourist inquiries like, where would be the nearest lift to go down JR station instead of walking down stairs - only have bottle of water supply @ first night

Great hotel, excellent breakfast! All the staff is really welcoming, loved evertyhing about this hotel.

The location of this hotel was great. Pretty much right in the middle of Shinjuku. The little neighborhood of bars and izakayas behind it was a great experience. Clean, staff very helpful even with limited English.
