Swissotel Grand Shanghai - شنغهاي

Amazing! Great location - You have great restaurants, shopping, and excellent metro service. We took the metro after the morning rush hour and used a taxi to return. We were able to show the driver our hotel key and they were able to locate the hotel. Having someone that speaks Mandarin is a plus. Having our breakfast included was a plus. The hotel inside and outside was spotless. Excellent staff.

This is a very good hotel, we really enjoyed our stay. Situated just in front of a metro station, so very convenient. A main shopping street also in front, which is a nice walk to People Square. Restaurants inside the hotel are really really good, lots of options for dinner or breakfast. Breakfast was overpriced but really good. Anyway there's a Burger King and Coffee Bean just in front if you want something cheaper. Rooms are also great, lobby is awesome, staff friendly and able to speak fluent English, which is something quite of strange in China. Overall, you won't be disappointed staying in this hotel, by no means.

Love the service, food, employees, it is a pecfect place to stay, close to the metro and everywhere.

I travel internationally for business at least once a month. China is often my destination. I have stayed in numerous hotels in both Puxi (Bund-side) and Pudong (Pearl Tower-side), and the Swissotel takes the prize. Spend a few extra dollars and stay on the Executive floor. Everything about this hotel is peaceful and relaxing. The food is outstanding. Don't waste your time and other hotels. I will return here everytime!

Great staff. Great location. Great room. Some cab drivers don't know the hotel, so make sure to bring a map or hotel's phone number with you. Tons of restaurants around the hotel, great foodcourt and an amazing supermarket at the basement floor of the near by mall. Around the corner from Shanghai Airport Downtown Shuttle Station. VERY convenient. VERY happy with my stay.

We arrived by metro and found the hotel without difficulty. All service was impeccable for our two nights and it was an excellent base to explore the city

It is the best choice in Shanghai, very close to MTR Jing An temple and to my favorite place, the pub windows.

Nice new and clean hotel with amazing amenities and staff. The pool and spa area was impressive. Very well appointed rooms with all the trimmings with modern yet timeless decor. Gret location near the French Concession and on the subway line for extremely easy transit to/from SHA airport -- 1 line, 20 minutes, door to door!! I would highly recommend staying here, and if/when I go back to Shanghai I will stay at the Swissotel Grand.

Location of the hotel was good, walking distance to the Jingan metro station which was 2 or 3 stops away from the famous attractions in Shanghai. Complimentary wireless internet was a bonus. Hotel building and rooms were comfortable and clean.

The subway station is less than 100m away. There is a major Department store at the back and numerous restaurants along the street and nearby offering all types of cuisines.

The room classes that hotel.com put on their website is not accurate. We booked an advantage room thinking there was a living room and sleeping room. That was not the case.

Everything was good excluding therewas no free WiFI in the rooms and in the lobby

If you need Internet service without constant interruption , this is not the hotel for you. Other than that, hotel was great. Loved the spa especially.

I ended up upgrading my room, and it was perfect! Great staff, with great comfortable room. Used the spa, fitness and pool, and it was all great. The evening drinks and breakfast was great!

This is an excellent hotel and I have stayed in it many times on business in Shanghai. My only complaint is the lounge. We often hold business meetings in the lounge and have lunch or snacks whiel we work. The food is terrible and the service haphazard (sometimes good sometimes not). Sometimes also noisy and there does not appear to be an alternative space. By contrast, the Moon Steakhouse has fabulous food and service.

Absolutely a pleasure to stay at this hotel. Very friendly staff and convient location to almost everything. Large room and very clean layout. The only thing which could have been better is the TV. It's on the small side.

The Swissotel is a good hotel with an excellent location in the jing an area. However the rooms are small and the wireless Internet service is very very slow and unreliable.

It's a business hotel. Comfortable, clean room with amenities, nice lobby, fitness center.

I checked in late at 9pm and get upgraded to executive room on the 23rd floor with free wifi. The room is not the biggest for the bucks, but it was very clean and comfortable, modern, very well furnished. I loved the bathroom, took a bath, enough lighting, bathroom is exetremely important to me. Love the fact there is a swimming pool in the hotel, very clean and well maintained, and i did my exercise. I stay one night so the room and the hotel was very under utilized. I am familiar with the Jing'an area and it is very convenient.

I paid for my room in full and when the reservation desk asked to block $200 in addition on my credit card and I asked why they explained for "incidentals". After a 10 minute conversation the manager asked me to sign some form explaining I would not enjoy any of the items in the mini-bar. Evidently that was what the $200 dollars was for. Then when my daughters and I went swimming my daughters went ahead to the room after we finished and I realized that I could not get to the room because they had the room key. The clerk said I would have to call them and get them to come down with the key. I stood there with my towel, wet hair waiting on my daughters to come down and bring me the key. Even though they obviously knew I was a guest at the hotel. Oh, and I asked if they had any goggles to borrow. No just for sale and they were 228 rmb which is about $35. It's all about gauging the customer. This is a very nice hotel, but they just don't get it. Customer service and making the customer really feel welcome just does not shine through.

I paid a little extra for an Executive club room which was worth the breakfast and the free wireless which is normally not included in the standard rooms. The executive club level is also a nice place for a drink in the evening.

The hotel is located in a central business location on the Puxi side of Shanghai, offering all amenities that a business traveler could ask for. If you plan on holding business meetings at the hotel, an upgrade to the executive floor makes sense as the executive lounge offers great meeting space and food service (included) throughout the day. Several excellent restaurants plus a very nice spa/workout area add to the hotel's appeal especially for longer stays.

Stayed in the Excutive floors. Only problem with this hotel is the wireless which is supposed to be available in the rooms is not always strong enough to use.

Couldn't be better!! Staff outstanding and attentive. Room was terrific!! Location just around the corner from a Metro stop and the Jing'an Temple. Great price, great value, wouldn't stay anywhere else!!!

I stayed at the Swissotel in Shanghai for four nights and had an excellent stay. From the airport, I took the airport bus service to the City Center and the hotel is right around the corner. It only cost me 22 RMB for the airport transportation (less than 4 USD). I had originally thought about taking the Maglev/metro from the airport but found the bus cheaper and more convenient (no metro transfers). The Swissotel is in a perfect location, a few minutes walk to the Line 2 metro. Walking distance to the Nanjing Road shopping. The hotel is fairly new and modern. The room is decorated very nicely. The bathroom is large with a walk-in shower or a bathtub. The towels are large and fluffy white. The bed was comfortable, a bit firm but that's the way I like it. Nice LCD TV with CNN, BBC, HBO etc. The staff were very helpful and check-in and check-out was a breeze. The concierge was helpful with writing out directions for the taxi drivers to my destinations (such as to the Qi Zhong tennis stadium for the ATP Masters). Overall, I was very impressed with this hotel and will definitely stay here again on my next trip back to Shanghai.

Spent 7 nights while on a business trip to Shanghai. The hotel facility and staff are top notch. Business friendly with luxurious spa/pool and amenities. Will definitely stay here again on future trips. VERY satisfied.

Modern hotel in central location down town. Right above metro station and supermarket. Great pool and sauna. Food was so so especially breakfast but otherwise this was good value. Will definitely stay here again.

Very convenient location... close to many of the shopping and restaurant areas such as Plaza 66 and a major shopping center next door (JiuKong)

I had not read a lot of really positive reviews on this hotel, so it was a leap of faith to book it. I saved money by paying for a non-refundable room, then paid extra for wireless and access to fitness. the room was beyond nice. large, wonderful linen, great lighting for reading, etc. bathroom had wonderful faucets, contemporary, with great shower and deep tub. great toiletries and tobes. beds were firm, but comfy. I did not find them too hard. there was a glass wall between the bathroom and sleeping area. fun, especially for singles of romantic couples. drop down shade can close off glass wall. spa was amazing. 3 hot tubs (2 individual tubs) and 1 cold tub. pool with skylight. nice gym. i tried to get wifi working, but could only get the cable working. not the end of the world. location is great, with metro next door, and a huge shopping mall next door, with a reasonably priced food area in the basement. The huge Jing An temple was next door. This was such an amazing hotel. watch out for transportation from Pudong airport to Hotel. They will change 400 yuan, more than double the correct rate. move past all the people offering public transportation, and go to the official taxi stand. just line up and jump into the next taxy. avoid those people who want you to sign something and take a car! cabs are very cheap in shangai. but look out for the crowds on all public transportation - boats, metro, trains. be prepared to push, shout and shove. if you don't know mandarin, you are out of luck. do the guided tour thing. One of our party some some mandarin (she is chinese) and even she had a hard time with everything. good luck!
