We chose this place because hostels were the same price at the time. This place is a step above a hostel for sure. It is relatively close to the MTR and very close to many bus stops. I would stay here again, as it seems hostels are just about the same price. The only thing you sacrifice is location at this hotel, as it is not really close to downtown.

The hotel is clean and the linen is changed everyday. For a budget hotel the staff were friendly and didnt have any problem. The MRT is just 5-10 minutes away from the hotel. The room is not so big, but the main thing is the room is always cleaned.

Very cheap and comfortable hotel excellently located in Chinatown and easy access to Sim Lim Square and Bugis St. I had two days of cold showers as the counter staff gave no introduction to the room which meant it was not explained that you needed to switch on the heater first! Also after my first day i returned to find my room had not been made up and in fact all of the bedding heaped on top of my belongings. This was shortly followed by a terse call from reception asking why I had not checked out at 12 noon? I explained I had booked and paid for two days - a fact that was shown on the voucher I handed in on registration. When the room was made up the bins were not emptied, drinking water and coffee were not replenished. Yoi get what you pay for but a little more attention to detail would see this hotel lift its ranking substantially. having said all this i will stay there again - at the very least because i now know how to get hot water!

Cheap Wifi in the room.

Plz do not ever ever refer this place to anybody.Its in the place where there are loads of Hostess and not anywhere near to stay with a family.

I have been staying with this hotel many times and found the service is down-grading. First, they are re-scheduling C/I time from 2pm to 3pm. Second, they can't wait to "remind" you one hour prior to C/O time.

It was ok. Clean and nice but pretty far away but the bus (stop) to town was near, about 200m so it was okay.

some rooms with fridges would be handy.

I t was an average hotel for the money I spent. The room is nice and clean. The location is not so bad, but a little far away from Kallang MRT station (a 10 minute walk).

Bedbugs, about 10min walk from station. Puke smell next day in lobby. Othervice good hotel and good service. Clean room, problems with hot water from shower. Recommend this still!

With the exception of Kristin and Enju, the front desk staff was not very cooperative and helpful. The room was infested with cockroaches which was maybe understandable because the hotel is undergoing a major renovation which maybe also the reason why it can be booked at low rates. The renovations also made creepy sound thru the plumbing system at night that you would think to be sleeping in a horror house. The Internet service at my room was not working which forced me to go in the lobby to get decent connections for S$5 for 2 hours. However the available 2-computer kiosk can be used at S$1 for every15minutes. Overall, if you are on a tight budget trip and no other hotels to book to, anybody else may survive this experience. Thanks to Kristin, you made us to survive it.

Very dirty room, lot of dust, broken air-con etc., Budget hotel doesn't mean should not be clean? The basic hygiene is missing.

Room is too small. Not value for money

The hotel name signifies prostitution and sex.. red light district.. The location was not as expected. If you stay at the Fragrance they might think you are a prostitute..several taxi drivers warned me and were surprised what i was doing at the fragrance.. Pity that it has this reputation. The hotel is okay and the service considering the price..

Although the room is small, the price is low and the hotel facilities are sufficient. Of course don't expect to have swimming pool, restaurant etc. There are many food to choose in surrounding. Walking to MRT is about 10 minutes. People say the location is in the "Red light district", but I find it safe.

The hotel was nice and loved the surrounding area! Lots happening in the evening and plenty of places to eat and drink. The only complaint I have is the internet access is pricey. 18 Singapore dollars per day.

Overall the hotel is nice. But the place is really quite far from the MRT station. It's hard to find when you're not familiar in the place. Better ask for specific directions.

I would not recommend this hotel simply because the service was so awful. Although the rooms are certainly not nice, they are not horrible for the price. The same goes for the location. However, the people at the counter were consistently rude and not attentive.

cheap, not far from MRT station. many many place to eat,near hotel. clean,size of room match with its cost. polite hotel officer. only one inconvenience thing that I met: Whe I ckeck in , fisrt room the air condition was damaged ,a lot of water dip out,then second room 's not cleaned up So I moved three times until end at the third room. Otherwise,the whole 's OK.

Shower rose never maintain, TV not clear, floor sticky but overall still ok for such good price.

Hotel is quite convenient and easy access as they're lots of hawkers nearby and about 15 minutes walking distance from Kallang MRT station.For a budget hotel it's expected that the space of room is not as advertised and no housekeeping service provided.If you're not dealing with tidiness shouldn't be a problem.

Overall this hotel is ok. Few minute walk from Kallang Train Station to city and airport. Plenty of inexpensive restaurants. The hotel location is very safe and the hotel and very quiet when you sleep. Bathroom - no partition between shower and water closet so water flows and always wet after shower.. but is tolerable. The hotel staff are okay except for one.. she is not helpful at all and quit rude... not willing to help in any way.. but the others are fine. Will recommend and come back.

Hotel is conveniently located near public transportation and some good places to eat. However, given the price, I would expect the facilities to be a little better cared for. The sheets were dirty, a couple of roach carcasses, and hair from previous occupants all over the floor. And the room stank of cigarette smoke. Definitely not worth the price even though Singapore hotels tend to be on the pricier side. Do not plan to stay here again.

Great fun lots of chinese takeaways around the location. Very cheap compared to other hotels in Singapore. Although the rooms are a bit outdated and with no bath only a shower with no shower curtain,it was pleasant enough

Despite some of the very negative reviews on this web site, I took a chance on this hotel and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is part of a chain of hotels in the Geylang area, which altho is meant to be in the Red Light area, I didnt see many working girls. The Geylang road is VERY lively, and a better bet than the sterile city centre with tons of eateries and tech stores. It takes about 10-15 from the hotel by cab to the city, about 30-45min by bus. Expect to wait for 20min though to get a cab on the street in rush hour. The room is OK for 2 people, altho there is a very thin bed blanket and the matress has a plastic covering which makes the bed hot. The room has a small old-style TV with a few English channels, like Euronews. There is a drum group that operates from a nearby property than has a concert at around 10pm every night, so dont plan on getting to sleep then as the concert is noisy. The windows are sealed, so no fresh air and you have to keep the Aircon on all the time and you can still here the drum concert. There is a DVD player and a kettle with coffee sachets and bottled water. If you are looking a day or two to stay in Singapore, the chain of hotels is OK for it. Not recommended for families though.

Check in was quick and the front desk clerk (same person from day 1 to check out) was helpful and speaks good english so asking for directions was not a problem. True, there was no one to help with luggage but there is a lift very close to the front desk. Rooms very cleaned everyday. Hotel should seriously think of installing shower curtains or doors since floor gets really wet after a shower - accident hazard not to mention it gets really dirty. We had a pleasant stay although we got tired of taxicabs asking us why we chose to stay in a red-light district with 3 kids in tow. But we didnt really care since we only stay in the hotel to sleep, we don't go out anymore at night. We particularly chose this place because of the affordable rates.

A cozy, clean place to stay after a tiring day at a very affordable/reasonable price.

The hotel is sufficient for only a 24-48 hour stay. Any longer stay, and consider on booking a hotel elsewhere. Hot water was available on the first day only: Plan on taking some cold showers. Hotel is perfectly safe, and the cleaning maids are absolutely adorable. Be sure to be respectful and refer to them all as "Auntie". The nicer you are, the better they'll clean your room... The MRT station - (Kallang) is about a 10 minute walk: West on Geylang, North on Lorong 1. Geylang is a bit of a grungy area, and I really wouldn't recommend eating at any of the local eateries if you value your health. There's a 7-Eleven in Kallang Station, and a couple of quick eateries just outside of the MRT station. Try the chocolate or creme-caramel pancakes at Soy Tree just outside the MRT station. Purchase your pre-paid EZ Link Card from the Ticket Counter: You'll need at least SGD $35.00 for 7 days, unless you plan on travelling to the more remote areas of the island, (i.e. Tuas, Western Singapore). Public transportation system is pretty easy to navigate. All buses and trains are well marked. Because of the high heat and humidity levels, be sure to bring t-shirts, shorts, and sunglasses. Safest places to eat are in the malls. Sure they're more expensive, but you can't put a price on your health. Parco Bugis Junction is located two (2) station stops away at Bugis Station. Most malls direct entrances from the subway. Lots of food choices located in the basement and street levels of Parco Bugis Junction mall. Highly recommend Ajisen Ramen and Nando's on the street level, and Beard Papa's for Japanese cheesecake sticks - (heaven!) in the basement level. Great tropical juice stands in the basement level, as well. Other great place to eat is also Food Republic on top level of Orchard Central Mall, the food court in the basement level of Plaza Singapura Mall, and the make-shift hawker centre at the Singapore Flyer: (Be sure to try the Grand-Slam Nasi Lemak plate at Selera's).

On arrival, my reservation was all in order. Apparently Singapore hotel rooms are usually very small and this was no exception. Perhaps the smallest I have ever stayed in, with the bathroom also very small. The mattress is vinyl covered but fortunately the A/C worked well in the heat and humidity. The cleanliness of the room was only average with myself being greeted on arrival with the toilet seat UP !! Basin also hadn't been cleaned and hair in the plug hole. They also did forget to clean my room on one of the days !! Not to worry, it is a cheap and basic hotel at the bottom end of the range, That famous quote, "you get what you pay for" For the $$ it was OK !!

The hard bed made it impossible to sleep, the hotel did not supply the basics like soap.

Hotel is in the red light district of Singapore. Room very small. Bathroom does not have separate tub. The floor of the bathroom is part of the shower. Would not recommend staying here even though price is cheap.

hotel room was small but clean, the bathroom was clean. the bed had clean sheets but a vinyl mattress. it is close to some cheap chinese restaurants, so food is easily accessible. good for a single traveler or backpacker on a layover. easy access from airport by metro. Internet cost money

The standard rooms are small,as in not much floor space, but that's not much hassle. Very clean room, bathroom has good shower, both with modern furnishings, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Tv has some English speaking channels too, so you can relax in the room. The only thing was the mattress is fitted with a faux leather style cover, and if you don't set the air con properly you would have a very uncomfortable and slippery night's sleep. There's no problem with the location, even though two separate taxi drivers made a point of saying the area it was "red light", you wouldn't really notice unless you were looking for it. A load of local restaurants less than 1 minute walk from hotel, and the Rail line is about 5 minute walk so you can still live it up in Singapore's fancy spots. Perfect for a "no frills" stay in a great city.

This Hotel had mixed reviews cause of location might be shady, but in all honesty it was a alright location. Safe at night, lots of shops, bars, cafe's, mini marts to buy beer or snacks. I arrived late around 1am into singapore by then the metro train between city and airport stopped running but a regular shuttle bus to your hotel in city runs to around 2am for 9 singapore dollars. Takes about 25 minutes or so. In daytime area is pretty busy, only 5 minute walk to metro, and pretty cheap on metro to merlion park and other famous areas. Hotel staff is very nice and helpful, 10 hr internet access is available for purchase at front desk to use wifi in room for maybe 8 dollars or so. Very nice and clean, beds are comfy and big, hotel seems safe, and i enjoyed my short stay there on my travels around asia. Hotel will store luggage in locked room for free after checkout if you want to do some exploring before your flight. All and all i enjoyed the hotel, it more than exceeded my expectations, esp after reading some of the negative reviews on here about. The area adds to the character and isnt that bad at all. I walked around from 2am till 4am with no issues. Deff would stay here again, esp with the great deal foundon hotels.com

I never found any restaurant has poor service like this! The reception is very rude!!. Even I specific that the room to be non-smoking room, when I went there, the room filled in with the smoke!! I told the reception to change the room... but they didn't do anything, just clean out. That they I was really really tired and I have to met the situation that I need to wait for 15 mins to clean out.. but the smell still exist. I insist to change the room but they told us that all the room are fully book in the same rate. They insist that they won't change any room for us.. so, we had to stayed in the hotel even the smell really bad!!! I will never ever go back to this hotel again... If the receptionist felt really sorry about what hapen, I will not angry about this too much.. but they're ver rude and no empathy at all!!
