very trendy hotel in the middle of downtown- great location! Rooms are clean and staff is very friendly. Only downside is that parking is expensive, it is cheaper to park in the lot across the street.

Will be back. Loved the sleek decor. Loved that it was pooch friendly. Only issues were with the electronics in the room. TV ridiculous to figure out. Some of the lamps even gave us trouble. Great food in the area. Near perfect.

Loved my room. Got the lowest cost king bed room and it was great. Fitness room was cramped and seemed like an afterthought rather than a well planned amenity as it should. You need a key card to use elevator. As a courtesy the front desk should let me know that rather than a less then obvious sign at elevators. Like that its in the gas lamp district and still stays quiet and calm in the hotel.

We checked in late the first night and missed the complementary wine tasting so they gave a voucher for the bar which was nice. The room was not cleanest...socks and paperwork left by the previous guests were in corners and behind furniture. For the price of this place I would expect the place to be spotless. We also did not get hand soap our initial night but were on a tight schedule so we failed to remember to complain. It showed up the second night, but still seems like the Palomar has an issue with there maid staff. There was also food left outside of our next door room for probably 30 hours. There was also street construction during our early April 2013 right in front of the hotel. Noise from this was not a big issue however. The valet handled it well despite the minimal space they had to work with. The Palomar is in a good location... easy access to the highway, and walking distance to night time destinations (rooftop bars, wine bars, food, etc). Despite the issues we had I would stay here again.

Great stay. better service a the pool bar would have made this a perfect stay.

staff was rude, friend actually switched hotels our room was supposed to be a suite with an ocean view instead we got to look at the construction and an old building i wont ever stay here again....

I stayed at the Palomar during a convention and the hotel was in a fantastic location. The whole look of the hotel was very modern and sleek. I was not aware but the street outside the hotel was under construction (not the hotel's fault) but it was very loud and made it very challenging to get a taxi. Once that construction is done I will stay there again.

Great people. Great service. Great food. Incredible rooms - especially the suites! I only have GREAT things to say about this hotel and its staff.

Johnson, Astrid, Michael and the entire team one again made our stay easy and enjoyable. Even in the midst of some challenges with nearby construction, they treated us like guests in their home. We are frequent visitors in San Diego and always make Palomar our go to hotel. Service, cleanliness, food, and atmosphere are outstanding.

This was our first stay at a Kimpton hotel, but it will certainly not be our last! Everything about this hotel was perfect. Anything you could possibly want is walking distance, probably less than two blocks away. The staff is cool, friendly, and helpful. The room we booked (king suite) was amazing. Having two bathrooms is nice, even for just two people, and the bed was so comfortable we didn't want to get out of it. The big surprise was the HUGE balcony overlooking the pool and the city. We ate a few take-out meals on that balcony, enjoying the sights and sounds of the city. When we booked there was a reduced rate for the amount of time we were spending there, so it was a bargain, too. Street noise could be an issue to some, but we embraced it as part of the city experience and quickly got used to it. The hotel will supply you with ear plugs upon request. I suppose the higher level floors would be quieter, too (we were on 9th out of 22). We will definitely stay here any time we're in San Diego.

Perfect location. Very nice rooms. Would def stay there again!

Palomar is in a great location, however the hotel is a bit dated. The bathroom doors are sliding glass and don't even cover the entire door; no privacy what so ever. The refridgerator in our room didn't work either. I expressed that to the front desk at checkout and he noted it but we received no discount. The staff was very pleasurable and the spa was amazing!

Great hotel location was perfect and service was awesome. Ill be booking here next time.

Staff was very pleasant. The only compliant I have is the parking fee. I've stayed in SD countless times and parking fee ranges from $20-$25, Palomar charges $38! That's a little excessive

There were a couple mishaps here and there, but they managed to make it up in every single way. We were given a credit when we did not get the room we asked for, and 4 complimentary drinks. We loved the wine at happy hour, and coffee in the lobby in the morning. Parking is expensive, and about 3 blocks away we were able to park for $30 for the whole weekend (compared to $38 per night). The pool was nice, but it was unfortunate the bar wasn't open in "the winter months". All in all we were very impressed with the customer service and cleanliness. Nice rooms and comfy beds too.

Best thing about this hotel is its location, it is very close to Gaslamp quarter. Other than that, I am disappointed by the quality of service and how bad the rooms are maintained. First of all, nothing ruins a romantic getaway more than ending up in a double bed room even if asked for a single king size bed. As soon as I entered the room, I called the front desk but they said they were out of king size beds for that night. This shouldn't be acceptable for a hotel at this price range. Second, the reservoir in our room was constantly making a lot of noise. When I called the front desk, they sent someone )who seemed very upset by the fact that as a guest I had a problem that ended up ruining my night) upstairs who told me they can only fix it the next day.

My visit was awesome! Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Dogs are always welcomed here and there is no additional charge. There is a free wine hour daily which is nice, also a complementary newspaper and coffee/tea in the lobby in the mornings. Rooms are supper nice and comfy, although some are a bit small. Walking distance to Gaslamp and a bunch of nice restaurants. I would definitelly stay here again and would highly recommend it!

Fantatsic! Service was very good and the front desk staff were outstanding. Bar is nice and relaxing for a drink and the free wine hour is a nice touch. We didnt eat here although food looked good, too much choice is the vicinity! The decor is modern and tasteful. The room design was a bit awkward and there was minimal wardrobe space in our room so if you are on a long trip this might be an issue. Bed was really comfy and good amenities.Hotel is in a great location to explore on foot or trolley. We really loved this hotel and hope to return.

I would have liked a coffee maker in the room, but I understand it is "greener" to have it brewed in bulk. I didn't know though that coffee was available in the lobby until I went down there. I was a bit surprised about how many homeless people were in the area.

Nicely appointed rooms and common areas. The staff is very welcoming - I particularly appreciated the watchful presence of the doormen and bell staff, because the downtown area is a bit sketchy at night. There were a few things in my room that didn't work properly: the shower head is a handheld spray with a wall mount that was comically low, and the phone in the room didn't work at all. I guess most guests rely on cell phones to call out, but how about getting your car brought up? wakeup call?

Okay, the room's shower set up needs to be addressed as well as the door sealing off the bathroom from the main room. Also valet parking a bit outrageous.

It was a nice hotel very clean, we had a great view the San Diego skyline, the service was great and the location of the hotel was very acomodating would defenently go back and would recommend it anyone

Overall nice. I have stayed here a couple times. Nice overall. I like Kimpton Hotels. You pay twenty-five each and every night to park/valet your car. I got hit for between to two to three hundred for blood on the sheets... a tad extreme. (I have stayed all over the world in the finest hotels and NEVER been charged for this before. Having said that ~ times have changed and risks must be mitigated I suppose.) PS I am staying there this New Year's weekend again.

We felt it was very personal and laid back.

I had a great stay. The hotel was very accommodating to our needs. The hotel restaurant's ("Saltbox") food was great and we did not feel the need to go out in the cold to get something to eat. But, the location was close to dozens of downtown restaurants. It was very comfortable to dine in the hotel and not step out in the rain. The gym is open 24 hours and it was equipped with the basics to get a good workout. Bottom line, we loved our stay, The Palomar is sleek and trendy but the staff and people are completely friendly and caring.

I stayed overnight. It's $28 to park overnight if you park your own car in the structure across the street...a bit more if you have the valet park it. The people at the front desk were super friendly and dogs are allowed (even encouraged). They had dog treats in a jar on the counter. The room was nice. The beds were as comfortable as they looked in the picture online. I wouldn't choose to stay here with someone else unless I knew them well enough to shower and use the restroom in front of them as the door to the restroom is frosted glass that slides closed and almost covers the whole door opening. That said, I would definitely stay here again with someone granted opening I knew them very well

The room was really nice, along with the staff. Would return next time! Parking garage across the hotel is $28/day and valet is $38/day. The only downside.

Place is amazingly current.

the neighborhood is a little dodgy, particularly if you head out the doors and go right instead of left. but the hotel is great - great staff, delicious restaurant.

The service was impeccable. All the staff were eager to help and knowledgable of the area. We had an amazing trip. I would highly recommend this hotel.

It was a great place everyone the staff was great . One of the staff was just really Great he was so much help. All of the places he suggested where great Cowboy Star , Cafe 21 and the locatoin was perfect. I will be staying here everytime i back San Diego.
