The Standard, East Village - نيويورك

The room was a bit small, and the king bed took up most of the space, but that bed was super comfortable. Everything was clean and nice, and you would have never known that major renovations were taking place unless you realized that most of the lobby was boarded up. Not noisy, the included light breakfast at the penthouse level was unreal. Amazing view! Staff was very efficient and friendly and helped me out so much with a booking problem.; so grateful to them for making my birthday weekend fantastic.

In its current state, the standard East Village is a fine, chic, luxury hotel - however as i understand it- they are in the midst of a slight and last minute contstruction improvement that would push this to the next level. Now it has to be said that the Standard Brand aesthetics is not for everyone..i've read some reviews that found the rooms too cold and minimal- perhaps lacking the traditional, or even some 'trendy touches' of some other hotels....what you will get the sense of is a handsomely well thought out room in white/light gray neutrals that dont come at your senses after you've come in from a long day of NYC travelling. the location too is very NYC as you would have imagined it to be when the lower east side was a mix of high and lows- gritty and chic...it's by no means the developed glamour of the West Village or the Meatpacking District (where they have the other Standard hotel- straddling the high line park)....it's definitely NYC for urbanites and off the beaten path lovers of old undiscovered avenues...shops..and best of all..Food...My stay was great due to the corner room splurge on the 8th floor which gave me the best double exposure /views of Bower St and the legendary Village Voice office bldg across the street from the hotel!!! Adding to the value is the very satisfying continental breakfast offered to guests at the penthouse level- imagine all around views / w glass sliding doors- the elevator opening to the brightness of the morning

Great hotel. Only problem was the renovation but the complimentary breakfast was nice. Would definitely return. Staff were very attentive.

It was my first and last time staying in Standard! Will never do again, the hotel manager promised late checkout that never happen even I was willing to pay extra for it, rooms have no light, they had to bring lamp to the room, and staff supper lazy did not even come up to take luggage after calling multiple times down stairs, staff was always saying that he on way up, but after I came down stairs the dude was chilling outside and even did not move till I order him to go upstairs to bring my stuff down.

Not often you get to eat a huge complimentary continental breakfast in a rock star penthouse apartment. That's where the Standard is serving breakfast while their reception is under construction. We'll never be able to afford to stay here once it becomes a private room again. What a unique experience! Views of NYC from here and from our room were just great. Staff so friendly. If you think the rooms are small you haven't stayed in enough NY hotels!

Totally great place in the east village.

Our stay at The Standad was awesome. The staff was excellent in all aspects of our stay. The staff assisted with very good transportation, directions, and dining recommendations. Even with the construction renovations the noise level was at a minimum.

No one told me when I first booked my reservation that they were undergoing major reservations or I would not have stayed there. Also, when I asked for a late check out I was told they were completely booked and would have to pay a $100 late check out fee. It was clear to me throughout my stay that they place was not ever fully booked and that that was a lie. To confirm my suspicions, when I was checking out I asked someone at registration if they were full for the night and was told that they were not. Lying to the customers is never good service. The rooms themselves look like dorm rooms. Garbage accommodations, garbage service.

Enjoyed it. Too short!

Hotel staff, service and overall ambience (for the completed portions at least) were fantastic, as was the East Village location. However, the rooms are small and the lobby isn't scheduled to be done until this summer, leaving few options for working or meeting within the hotel.

Hotel location is perfect for visiting my son in East Village. I have stayed and enjoyed the Standard before- didn't realize it was undergoing complete remodel/reconstruction of 1st floor so missing convenient lobby cafe and bar.Best hotel though for location and East Village and Soho shopping!

I was very impressed with this hotel. I love the location/neighborhood. The staff was extremely helpful and responsive. The breakfast was fabulous and was served on the penthouse floor due to the ongoing renovations in the lobby. That will probably stop after the lobby is completed, which is a shame because the view from up there is spectacular. I only gave a 4 on condition because of the renovations; otherwise I would have given it a 5.

Even though the lobby was under construction it didn't impact our stay one bit. The manager sent an email in advance and we got a free daily breakfast to compensate. Upon arrival the staff were very professional and helpful always. Our room was beautifully decorated with an a+ decor. The room was a little small but its New York. All we did was sleep there. Would recommend staying here again

disappointed - hotel under construction, room drafty

Our "Courtyard View - King" was absolutely the smallest hotel room that I've ever stayed in. That is saying alot considering I was previously a flight attendant for seven years and used to getting the smallest rooms available in a hotel when on a layover. When you reserve a king sized bed, you assume the room is scaled to accommodate that size of bed comfortably and also large enough for two people to fit. Not here. There was literally between 1-2 foot of space on the end and side between the wall and edge of bed.

I am 71 years old and have been staying in New York for business and leisure most of my life at least 5 times a year. Of all of the places I have stayed, your hotel is the best. Incredible over-the-top service by everyone working there. A first-rate room. Wonderful location. If I was to say anything that wasn't perfect it was that the breakfast (by the way the room was spectacular at the top of the building) food was a bit mediocre. But overall, congratulations to you and the team at The Standard–East Village

The room and amenities available (or lack thereof) reminded me of a college dormatory...with beautiful bedding. Tiny/ Spartan/ wouldn't stay here again.

The staff was fantastic. (Cat is a star--hair up and down! Attentive focused on the details.) Ye, old-young bellmen, step it up--disappearing for 15-20 mins would make folks in a hurry--a bit bananas. Corner room worked, although small. Rethink these cheeky showers with no dividers nor the luxury of a simple, nordic style shower-sized squiggy implement--less water is EVERYWHERE. Overall is a great joint. I'd come back.

It would have been better if the penthouse bar area was in operation but the breakfast in that space was terrific.

Excellent bed, great location, great facilities, everything you could wish for, best bathrobes ever. Hotel lobby was being worked on when we were there so complimentary buffet breakfast was offered in the penthouse suite with amazing views. Delightful!

Everything was fantastic. The staff was super friendly and they upgraded my friend and I to a bigger room with free breakfast upon arrival due to construction going on. I think they also knew it was my birthday weekend. The construction was not noticeable at all except that we couldn't access one of the two restaurants they have and the main part of the lobby. thats my only complaint but you couldn't even hear a pin drop from the construction/renovation area. The room was tidy, clean and came with a bunch of awesome goodies like fashion magazines, velvety robes, ipod dock with speakers, cute stationary and wrap around glass walls with a gorgeous view (even from the 4th floor!).The next morning we enjoyed our complimentary breakfast on the penthouse floor overlooking manhattan. enjoyed some great NY bagels & coffee up there and then caught a cab around 1 after they were happy and able to accommodate a late check-out we requested. i really loved the staff and the beautiful room so much. I miss it already and hope to come here soon and often!! Everyone here deserves a fat raise.

The Standard does it right every time. Fantastic upgrade into a corner king that offered the most beautiful views going to bed and waking up. Full wrap around floor to ceiling, just amazing. Complimentary continental (plus) breakfast to compromise for some some lobby remodeling and restaurant addition was served in the 21 floor penthouse and was simply done perfectly with the most amazing views of the village and beyond, thanks for a great stay.

I liked: Bathroom size and shower, Passes to NY Health & Racquet Club, nice front desk staff, view (deluxe corner room), good internet connection. I DIDN'T LIKE: No actual sheet on the bed (just the comforter), the A/C thermostat was directly below the vent so it kept shutting off and made the room warm; THE CHEESE IN THE REFRIGERATOR MINIBAR EXPIRED 5 MONTHS AGO (they apologized and took it off my bill); no irons in the room, bell men and men holding the front door open weren't very friendly.

The rooms were small but the bed was HUGE and very comfortable. It could have been a little bit more spacious but the bathrooms were a nice size which makes up for the lack of space in the main area. The Library and outdoors area was really relaxing and great to sit and lounge and have coffee, chat, etc. Overall I really liked the remodel of the hotel (from the previous hotel it look over) and the staff was friendly and I loved the bikes they had available to ride. Much cooler and more chill than the Standard Meatpacking.

I was in the city for work and this hotel is a five minute walk from the office. Great view, quietest hotel I've ever stayed at in the city. Comfy bed and pillows. Very nice outside garden, however, the glass of wine I purchased there was quite pricey (even by NYC standards). Will definitely return.

The only and I mean only thing that I had an issue with in this hotel was that there were definitely some signs of wear in the room. Some tiles in the shower were bulging and coming loose from the wall, as well as being cracked. The trim around the bottom of the wall was also quite banged up. I know that seems picky, but for a 4-star hotel at a 4-star price, you should be able to expect perfection. However, if you want a stylish hotel, with a great lounge (try the Moscow Mule), a helpful staff, in a REAL NYC neighborhood (not Times Square), check out The Standard East Village.

Great hotel in East Village. Comfortable room. The staff was awesome!!! The only knock on the hotel is that any sound in the hallway carries into the room.

Having mistakenly booked this hotel, thinking it was the Standard Hotel that straddled the High Line, I got over my disappointment quite quickly... The exterior of the hotel and neighbourhood aren't very appealing at first glance but the communal space inside, especially the outdoor garden and eating area, were lovely -- a real oasis from the gritty reality of the East Village! The staff were very helpful and the access to Soho and the shops and restaurants a plus. We had great views and the beds were incredibly comfortable and rooms clean, if a bit tiny -- closets assume you are there for two days max.

I have stayed in all of The Standard hotels and they are all great! Each different in their own way. The Standard in the east village is a cool place to stay that is located in a energizing area of NYC. Easy walking distance to shops, restaurants and trains. Another cool boutique hotel by The Standard group!

This hotel was very nice - sheek look and beautiful rooms, but they were very small. On a better note, the bed was a great size and very comfortable! Great for a relaxing night after being out in the busy city.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel. the staff was friendly and helpful and the bed very comfortable. the room was, however, quite small. and also please be careful when booking as there are 2 Standard hotels in NYC, which i ignored and was expecting to stay in the meatpacking district (seems the original one can't be booked on hotels.com), so the location didnt end up convenient for me...

Very nice, contemporary hotel with an extremely comfortable bed and a nice shower - loved that we could see out into the city while showering, but while also being private. Great corner room with a great view. Could have used more outlets for charging electronics.

This hotel is about position - close to 2 useful subway lines and in walking distance to great neighbourhoods. The wifi was fast and the rooms had plenty of light (even the "cheap" room I had.) Unfortunately the bathroom had no storage for toiletries, the bench top was black and always looked dirty and the light made it difficult to put on make up. The room did not have enough hangers for clothes. For the price I a not sure I would stay here again.

Unfortunately was not impressed. Shower had black mold and housekeeping never left enough clean towels. Staff seemed busy and non attentive.

For an expensive hotel like this, I would have expected a little bit better experience. My main issues were that the towels were old and sandpaper-like, the housekeeping staff was rude, the room w as barely big enough for the bed, and the shower head was cheap and uncomfortable. The bed was comfortable, and I loved my view. Otherwise, not quite worth the price.

The hotel was great. Very pleasant and helpful staff. The room was small (why I gave it a 4), but hey this is New York. I was by myself, so no problem, but for two it might be a bit cozy. Good size bathroom with a large nice tiled walk-in shower. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. I had room service and the food was very good. There is a good restaurant - bar set up with an outdoor room. The hotel has complimentary bikes, which I used and found very convenient. For me, I like a downtown location, but the location would not suit everyone, and for that reason I did not give it a 5 for location. I would very happily stay here again.
