Hotel Shangri La Santa Monica - سانتا مونيكا

This hotel is in a great location for food, the beach and shopping - but not for a peaceful night's sleep. The windows were relatively soundproof, but we could still hear quite a bit of noise - especially at night. The tiled hallway floors allowed a lot of echoing and we could hear guests above, next door and in the hallways. That aspect aside... The room service was superb! The quality of food and selection we had was incredible! The food tasted great, the service was super-hero quick, and the portions were more than sufficient. Our room had a view of the beach, and the pier was a short walk away. The mall and 3rd Street Promenade were also nearby.

Lovely hotel!

Definitely recommended. However check actual bed arrangements in the room you've booked. Queen beds in suites are sofa beds and some are actually only sofas.

Have been to LA many times but this was our first stay in Santa Monica. It was a refreshing change from Staying in Hollywood etc and a totally different experience. Walking distance to Pier, great restaurants and Hop on Hop off bus We are a family of 4 and had a spacious 1 bedroom suits with lounge and kitchenette. Bedroom and bathroom were huge and comfortable. Kitchen facilities were excellent and great to have after 3 weeks' of eating in restaurants although only used these a couple of times. Hotel is smaller than it appears in photos and rooms are off an outdoor area. There is a night club in hotel and bar. Ladies at reception were exceptional. Loved the pool area.

I had to wait almost 3 hours in the afternoon to check in. I was told the wait would be short, but was left hanging out in the dining room. Only after I raised a fuss did the staff view this as a serious issue. Once I did, they did get a room and offered me wine, cookies and a free meal, but their system seems to need work still. Also, I left a valuable object in the room when I checked out. I called the hotel from the airport and was promised an immidiate return call, which also never came. When I called back, security said nothing was found in the room

We try to stay at the Shangri La whenever we are in Santa Monica. Great views of the ocean and pier, and we can walk to restaurants and shopping. The hotel has a wonderful ambiance, and the sunset views from the rooftop bar are spectacular.

Excellent location, great room, I had a terrace suite with kitchen, and incredibly friendly staff from maids to front desk to the bar and wait staff.

The front desk receptionist was nice. They upgraded us to a larger room because our room wasn't ready at check-in time. The locatio is superb and close to the beach and third street. We enjoyed our stay there. Thank you!

We had such a wonderful stay at the Shangri La in Santa Monica. Its a 2 minute walk from the main shopping strip and a 5 minute walk from Santa Monica Pier. Its a great location for travellers visiting LA. The service at the Shangri La was exceptional. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great stay. What a wonderful hotel, will absolutely return in the future.

We loved the hotel, the staff were very help full and obliging. The hotel suited out needs, very clean and comfortable. Thankyou.

We loved this place as soon as we walked in. The staff was very helpful. The room we booked was not available , so they upgraded us and it was fantastic....It overlooked the ocean, the room was beautiful. It was my daughters 21st birthday, and she loved it!! Walking distances to the pier, and many of the restaurantes.

Just had a one night stay. Fantastic service and great staff.

We got an unexpected upgrade from a regular suite to a two-bedroom suite with ocean views. The only bad thing about our stay was that it was too short. Excellent, attentive staff, great modernized art deco hotel.

I was expecting the Shangri La standard but was disappointed with this hotel. Not like it looks in the pictures. Old, stale and not worth the expensive price tag. More like a 3.5 star hotel, not even a 4. There are lots of other great hotels in Santa Monica, right on Ocean Ave, that are better than this. Don't waste your money and be disappointed like me.

We absolutely loved the hotel! The staff was friendly and always helpful. The rooms were beautifully decorated. The two-bedroom suite was perfect for our family of five. Wish our stay had been longer and the weather warmer! Would love to return!

I arrived from overseas and found out that when they say 3pm check in, they will let you wait until 3pm.

The hotel is true Hollywood: all show and no go. I could give several unsatisfactory conditions I faced in this high priced locaton; however, I will only list my items of most concern. 1-the matress was King Size and indented to the extreme on both sleeping sides ... my back hurt from the discomfort; 2-the shower was beautiful but did not provide regulation of temperature ... it was either very cold or very hot and alternated every few seconds ... I could go on but why try ...

An all-in great experience. The interior designers had done their jobs well, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and it is perfectly placed to take in stunning ocean views, then go and get a whole lot of shopping done!

I had stayed at The Fairmont one block away many times for business, but this hotel had been refurbished, so I gave it a shot. Very nicely done considering the building itself has not been updated much. Restaurant has great food, beautiful pool area and even a roof top bar with great views of the beach. My only issue is a billing problem I am still trying to resolve...other than that, great location and very nice interiors.

I would certainly recommend this hotel to others. I travelled with my wife and two kids (13&16), our unit had plenty of room for the four of us, it had a separate bedroom (queen bed) and a double fold out bed in the living area which was no problem to use. The Kitchen facilities were ideal (full size everything) for self catered meals and snacks. The street-side windows were double glassed (but could be opened) so the room was very quiet for such a busy area. The unit had a lovely bathroom with a huge spa bath that had a interconnecting window to the bedroom. Note that the walls between the bedroom and bathroom were one way glass, so if your kids are in the bathroom they can see you but you can’t see them, not a big deal just be warned. The pool/spa area has a resort feel and look about it with deck chairs, cabanas and gas flame heaters to keep you warm as you dry off after a dip. The location could not be beaten, close to the pier, farmers market, shops and transport. The staff happily provided directions to a grocery store which was a couple of blocks away so, if you’re buying up big, take another person to help carry the items.

Food was awful, rooms are not clean enough. Also on the top of that, at midnight time fire alarm was tested. Shortly, in Santa Monica you may find better options for the same cost.

Very comfortable, very conieniently located

You feel like you are staying in your own flat. Rooms are super comfortable and service is super.

Thought we were staying for a get away, never expected such a great place to stay. The staff was so nice and the place was gorgeous. Thanks for making our anniversary great.

The hotel is well located across from the beach and close to the shopping and restaurants on the 3rd street pedestrian precinct. The hotel looks great following the recent renovation. Overall the rooms are well designed and attractively decorated, but are on the small side. It is worth paying for a deluxe ocean view room, and pre-request a high floor (4 or higher) as the lower floors can be noisy due to traffic on Ocean Ave. The plethora of great restaurants within 10 mins drive meant that we did not eat in the hotel (thanks Yelp!). Inexpensive public multi-storey parking is available close-by at Arizona and 2nd - no need to use the fiendishly expensive hotel valet. Overall highly recommended.

The hotel is well maintained and nearly new. Staff was professional but service a little spotty. Nothing insurmountable but we were disappointed by the room, which was very small and looked out over an alley. The hotel promotes views from every room -- obviously not true. Overall a nice property but not enough to keep us from trying another similarly-priced hotel in Santa Monica.

We spent two nights in the hotel in Santa Monica. After a long flight from NYC arriving in at midnight we were welcomed by the most friendly and helpful staff and were delighted to hear we had been upgraded from a hotel room to an apartment! The room was clean, air-conditioned, had lots of space. There was a beautiful outdoor pool with bar and meal service and a rooftop bar open in the evenings. The beach is across the road and it is only a 2 minute walk to third street promenade and all it's shops and restaurants. Fantastic hotel - would definitely stay there again!

Great location . Very much used hotel as a base and didnt make much use of hotel facilities. Had one dinner in hotel restaurant which was of good standard and fair price. Hotel car parking charges very steep. Nearby parking lots less than half the price. Room a little on the small side. With rollaway bed for child space was tight. Sea front outlook made up for this.

We truly enjoyed this hotel. We had a suite with gourmet kitchen and had our two young children along. Location could not be better great ocean views. Pool and pool bar were enjoyable and food was excellent. Cool roof top penthouse bar too. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, sizable, renovated stylishly and are nice, but if you want brand new luxury type hotel this is not for you. Reasonable public parking available across the street.

Lovely hotel, superb views over the ocean, spacious room, great swiming pool area. Only little problem is that the windows are not well isolated and traffic in the street is quite heavy. Overall a fantastic place.

Great hotel, best room-service food I've had in a long time. The terrace suite was fabulous.

My husband and I stayed at the Shangri-La from June 18 - 21 and could not have enjoyed ourselves more. We arranged a suite with the assistance of the hotel.com representative as we were travelling with our child. She verified that the suites did have sleepers and the hotel was in close enough proximity to the beach to walk with a child. When we first arrived we were put in a suite that would not work (no pull out coach in the other room). No problem - they moved us to a perfect suite with a seperate bedroom within 2 minutes. It also had a wonderful entry way and 2 bathrooms. The vibe of the hotel including the pool, rooftop deck and bar was cool yet incredibly warm and personable. The location was fantastic as we could easily walk to the beach (crossing any of the various bridges that go across route 1) and a 5-10 minute walk to the Santa Monica Pier, likewise the 3rd street promenade.

Great location with clean and nicely decorated rooms. Rooftop bar is great to have a drink, catch the sunset and start your evening. Pool is situated such that if there is a cold offshore breeze the building blocks the wind and makes the pool area perfect.

I've stayed at many hotels across the world and by far this was the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The rooms are very large, it's a 1-bedroom suite with a living room and kitchen area. The bathroom was also very luxurious with your own jacuzzi tub. There is a very posh private pool too. It's a short walk across a bridge to get to the beach. The hotel is also right by the Third Street Promendade. If you happen to stay during a Wednesday, the Farmer's Market is right outside the hotel, which is a good experience. I will definitely stay at this hotel again, if I can afford it.

The room was beautifully decorated. Clean! And, I had a view of the ocean. It was Quiet from other room noises. I could occasionally hear noises from parties at the pool.. The food was great as was the service. The pool was also clean. The gym was well appointed and well maintained. The central location is hard to beat. I'd return !
