Gran Real Yucatan - ماردة

Busy place The hotel is in a busy area but all of Merida is busy. Not noisy in the room area and pool though.

We only stayed a night, but found the staff very friendly. The hotel has a nice airy feel, and is near major squares and churches and a couple of blocks from restaurants. It is quiet despite the activities nearby.

Due to late arrival from L.A., we missed our connecting flight in Houston. There is only one flight each day. Contacted Hotels.com immediately, plus phoned hotel directly. We would obviously not stay that night but could have rebooked for another night within a week. Gran Real Hotel was completely unresponsive, unapologetic and made no effort to help. We lost our night's deposit and we would have had to pay in full again - no discounts - if we wanted to stay another time. The bottom line: Their hard line on re-accomodating us has caused nothing but frustration and created bad will. Apparentely the hotel could care less about keeping their guests in good spirits.

A few blocks from the central square, nice pool. Large rooms, with balconies. Has a bar and a restaurant, though we did not try the restaurant. Also has 2 computers with free internet access, and free wifi in the rooms. Also has parking lot, a must if you have a rental car to park! The only markdown they get from me is that we had booked for Fri and Sat nights. We ended up getting to Merida in Thursday instead, and were hoping they would just let us use the reservation for Thur and Fri instead. However, even though they had rooms available for Thursday night, they would not do this. Their call I guess, but not a great way to win over customers. Other than that though, the hotel is excellent, and we ended up staying Thur, Fri and Sat.

A beautiful hotel, truly a gem, compared to some of the others that I saw. From the outside, it appears very humble, but step inside and you are in a beautiful oasis, with an open central green space, marble floors, and high ceilings about the periphery. The rooms were small but pretty enough, though not as beautiful as other parts of the hotel. The pool was nice, but chilly and the seating area surrounding the pool was charming. The food at the hotel restaurant was very good and not expensive. The downtown shopping district was 5 blocks away, so the location is good to strike out to see the city.. The neighborhood felt safe, but was not very nice. The staff was excellent and seemed to go out of their way to make our stay comfortable. We definitely enjoyed our our stay at the Gran Real Yucatan and would recommend the hotel.

The hotel itself is great and the employees are wonderful and nice. Our room was clean and the hotel itself was well kept and clean. Our biggest *and only* problem was the food. One of the nights during our stay it was storming and we didnt feel like leaving the hotel so we decided to try out the hotel restaurant. BIG MISTAKE. It was by far the worst food that either one of us had eaten in our lives. We couldnt even eat 2 bites of the food. We noticed that other people had the same reactions. If you stay there you will not be dissappointed but if you eat the food there that is a whole other story!

The hotel is a converted home located in downtown Merida. We checked in at 1:30 am and the reception apologized the restaurant was closed. They suggested we prepare a grocery list, and they would go get it for us at the store for us! What service. The hotel was charming and comfortable.

I loved this hotel. It was a nice location. It has a lovely lobby/lounge area with bar and restaurant. The rooms are nice and a good size. I really enjoyed my stay.

The hotel was within walking distance of most of our tour book recommended sights. It was beautifully maintained both in the room and common areas. The staff was very accommodating and eager to please. We spent one night on a day tour from Cancun, but would definitely have stayed longer and would consider returning in the future.

The hotel is conveniently located in Centro, you can walk to all the sights and many restaurants. It is not loud though, as all rooms are to the pool area in an atrium. The hotel is 4-star and I mean by Western standards. Great rooms, everything is clean and really well-kept. We had only one strange incident: the tip that the maid service "requests" - we stayed for 7 nights, so we thought tipping would be after those 7 nights but somehow it did not seem to go over too well with the maid - because one day our "fruit knife" was cleaned "away" and one other day one of our chocolates was mysteriously gone ... so, my guess would be that just tip the maid every day a little and you should not have that problem. But the tip is actually something that we are problematic with in Mexico anyway - everybody wants tips for things that should be included ...

The pictures at the webside looks good, but the rooms are very simple, the pool small and during our stay in January the pool and surrounding areas was in shadow. The hotel is simply too expensive.

This was the 2nd time that we stayed -- everything was as wonderful as the first. There is 1 minor thing that we would change -- in the tub/shower the curtain kept blowing inwards - it would be better if the shower rod was one with a curve to it instead of straight - that would solve that small problem. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay.

Beautiful hotel about 6 blocks away from the main plaze where several restaurants and shops can be found. There is a restaurant (quite good) and a small bar on site. Nice room though a bit small. Beautiful swimming pool. Friendly and courteous staff.

We very pleased with the staff & accommodations of the hotel. Had a wonderful Mayan meal. We will stay there again on our next trip to Merida.

The Gran Real Yucatan is a beautiful hotel. The staff is very knowledgable and helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would stay there again.

Realmente sobresaliente el buen servicio la atencion y diligencia de los encargados del hotel muy muy recomendable, muy bien ubicado a solo 2 cuadras d todos los atractivos turisticos de merida. Excelente

Buena atención, habitaciones cómodas y limpias

Una joya arquitectónica, ultra limpio, muy bien localizado, a cuadras del mercado y del centro. Bar agradable. Alberca y jardines muy bien mantenidos.

Hotel muito bom, bonito, bem localizado, os únicos problemas foram o ar condicionado não gelava direito e os serviços um pouco demorado, como o check out

Nice hotel and friendly staff and situated perfectly in the Merida central area in walking distance from all attractions. But be careful with the laundry service, it's extremely expensive

Sehr sauberes und schönes Haus, allerdings in einer nicht sehr vertrauenserweckenden Umgebung. Das Personal war sehr freundlich, das Hotel sehr sauber, die Gastronomie gut und preiswert.
