Lovely old hotel with loads of character. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Dinner and breakfast were very good. Room was lovely – love the teddies! Will stay here again.

I booked the hotel as a surprise for my boyfriend, we were looking forward to a weekend of walking and beautiful scener. We arrived at the hotel after a long walk tired and hungry. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We had the most delicious meal, 3 courses and then had the best sleep in our wonderful 4 poster bed. The breakfast was amazing too

loved it thank you. Room freezing on arrival and then too hot! (Heating on all the time). Other than this one complaint, we had a great time and have recommended it to others.x Glyn

We had a brilliant time at the Queens Head apart from a fab hotel and fab food , the staff are the best - their teamwork is an inspiration - they never stopped working, smiling or considering their guests but also their fellow workers - we would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a truly magical stay in the Lakes - thank you to all the staff we had a wonderful time - keep up the good work! One slight downside was the piped music which was on a loop and according to my fiance was 'music to hang yourself by!' a slight exageration I thought but did allow room for improvement - very minor criticism. He has read this review and thinks I have gone easy on the music - perhaps - but great time was had by all - thankyou :-) x xx

Enjoyed our stay, quiet location, clean room, but bed needs renewed. Food was first class, pleasant, friendly service. Will be back

Excellent hotel, great food and very good service. The only problem i had was that there was an open condom paper under the bed which was pretty visible once i got into the room. Other than that a great place to stay and explore the lakes.

Had a really relaxed lovely time. Big log fires & comfy chairs. Staff were all lovely & very friendly. Dinner was delicious & breakfast was amazing. Great value for money

When we chose this hotel, it was because it seemed to ooze character and we weren't disappointed. Straight away we were greeted with a smile and friendly manner and from then on until we left, nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel special. Normally I never sleep as soundly as I do in my own bed at home but we both slept like logs and the bed was so comfortable.. The room was beautiful, the food was amazing! There is nothing negative I can say about our stay. We never go back to the same place twice as we like to go somewhere different each time but we definitely want to visit The Queens Head again and that is a first for us!!

Rooms are OK and very Clean, but the food in the restaurant is terrable and overpriced. Breakfast was ok home made baked beans are horrible and overpriced if not in your room rate.

Can't complain about anything except the walls of the room we stayed in were too thin as heard everything going on next door very clearly, apart from that, the staff were very helpful, food great, wished stayed longer and explored the area more.

The hotel/pub is gorgeous. Will definitely stay there again. Food is a bit pricey but it saves you travelling further afield. We got the tariff at a good discounted rate which was suitable for our purposes and the facilities provided. I would not stay there at their normal full rate as I don't think it would be value for money. The room we had was in the adjacent converted barn but was smaller than expected. Still comfy though. This hotel accepts one night stays. Most places nearer to Windermere & Ambleside state a minimum of two nights.

Marvelous stay met members of the family who live in the lake district, met up at night for evening meal wide and varied menu, good range of wine and beers, Breakfast excellent, log fires in the dining area with the magnetic effect which made you go and stand by them, A drop of rain, but that is the lake district , if it didn't rain there would not be the Lakes nor the multi shades of green of the scenery, for over 60 years I have hiked it biked it , camped it and now I bed and breakfast it, Oh and by the way the Queens is as good a place to stay to see the Lakes as anywhere I have stayed before, So those who are hesitating do it and book it, you will have no regrets

A very nice, character hotel well placed for Troutbeck and area. Excellent service and food. Room was charming but small, with nice personal touches and a very modern en suite, , cat swinging would have been difficult!! We were in the annexe,room 19, but don't know if the other rooms were as snug.Got a last minute deal so well satisfied for value for money, but would have baulked at paying the full asking rate..

good food and pleasant stay and good location

The inn is lovely and the staff were, without exception, very friendly and welcoming. The food was good quality and beautifully presented too. Personally we found the teddies and dog in the room a bit twee but that's a matter of taste. We found it easy to get everywhere from there - short journey to both Windermere and Ambleside. The ale was very good too, as were the house wines. The ambience was cosy, friendly with nice clientele. We would definitely recommend this inn.

Great choice of real ales and lagers and very good 'gastro pub' type food. Maybelimited choice for a fussy eater but we were well satisfied and ate there on both nights of our stay and enjoyed it thoroughly. The only negative for me was the poor wi-fi connection which seemed to drift in and out of range and was pretty much useless, even though our room at the front of the main building. This hotel has a good location, only 3 miles or so from the lake and there is plently of good walking and exploring to be done nearby.

Fantastic stay - very hospitable and the food was excellent!

We couldn't believe the bargain price. From the warm reception on arrival, to the superb service at dinner and breakfast, we were completely won over by the Queens Head Hotel. The room was comfortable and the whole building was full of character and history. I don't think I've tasted nicer food anywhere. We were completely puzzled how good the stay was for the amount we paid. Top class hotel.

This was a charming old hotel with its origins dating back to the 16th century. The room was reasonably sized and was clean. The bed was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was of a high standard. The hotel is situated a couple of miles from Windermere and was very quiet which suited my wife and me. We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. We were able to travel throughout the Lakes District and return to this centrally located site.

Delightful 2 night stay. Great location just a couple of miles from the hustle and bustle of Windermere and Bowness. Peacocks were great neighbours. They were noisy, but we loved them. Good range of real ales in the pub, though the lack of vegetarian food was a slight disappointment. Do try the drive over the Kirkstone Pass - the road isn't too bad and the views are stunning. We'd definitely return.
