Hotel Arco Iris - تاماريندو

The atmosphere here was not hotel-like, or resort -like. Arco -Iris is more of a home-away-from-home , with the added feature of a pool and tropical environs. The staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating and the facilities well maintained. There were fewer units than a lot of places , and that made for better socializing amongst the guests. Another plus is the fact that there is an excellent restaurant on the premises. All in all, my stay there added up to a most pleasant and relaxing experience.

i would recommend this place as it was clean, staff was very helpful, the breakfast was great, and the location was key.

Great place to stay in Tamarindo!

We had a lovely stay at the Arco Iris in Tamarindo, CR. Richard the owner and Ivett were wonderful. The people all over Costa Rica are the kindest I think I've ever met. The hotel is very clean and just off the main drag, which is preferable. It's close to three wonderful restaurants - Seasons (in the hotel is soooo good), Dragonfly, and Baula. The rooms at this hotel are small but they are perfectly fine, you shouldn't be spending a lot of time in your room! They have a/c, which is necessary, a refrigerator and safe. The only thing I could recommend to the hotel is some more comfortable pillows. Otherwise, bravo!

Just got back yesterday from Tamarindo. Stayed five days here and two at an all-inclusive RIU (DO NOT GO TO THE RIU). I truly think that Hotel Arco Iris may be the best overall travel experience I've ever had. My husband and I and our group of friends have been to Asia, Europe, Central America and South America either all together or individually, so we have covered the gambit of accomodations. Richard and his staff are super attentive. The grounds and rooms are very well kept. It is a short convenient walk to the beach. The beaches have hotels and bars on them that let you use the bathrooms so you don't have to worry about heading back to your hotel. We put in two eight hour days on the beach, then would head back to Arco and hang out on the hammocks after picking up some Imperial Cervezas or wine at the supermercado. All the restaurants are American friendly as the town may be becoming a little to gringo-ized. That is another thing that made the stay here great; you felt just enough seclusion without being isolated. It isn't a sprawling establishment - I think there are only 12 bungalows. If we don't end up going back here when we visit CR again, I will at least contact Richard for other areas to visit and places to stay in CR

Overall, it's a nice place. Richard is a good guy and will not short change you. He'll be very accommodating and personable. The place is a good place for families and quiet types. It's a good walk from the beach and the central part of town. It's not that far but a good walk. If want a comfortable stay this place is cool. The in room safe is very small so don't expect to fit in a lot or big things in there. The beds make noise so if romp the neighbors will know for sure hehe.

This was a good location in Tamarindo and within walking distance to the beach and local restaurants and bars. Arco Iris was clean, the staff was helpful and friendly. The only negative I experienced was that the water pressure in our room was a bit weak so we spoke to the staff and they remedied it as soon as we told them. Quick service.

We had a great stay at your hotel Richard!! The bed was comfortable, room clean, hammock relaxing, food great, people nice, and the birds, Iguanas, and location was excellent. The hotel was wonderful, I would definitely go back! It was in a great location, the staff was great and we felt comfortable and safe. If you are looking to go to Tamarindo, CR, Hotel Arco Iris is the place to stay!!

Gorgeous little bungalows and you get your own hammock. Richard and staff are very friendly. One of the best restaurants is on-site. The restaurant staff even indulged us by putting on some music to entertain us as we sat by the pool. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach and yet a welcome retreat from the main street.

Hotel is ~5-10min walk to the beach and the main strip of restaurants is ~5min away. The owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. They provided suggestions for local cuisine and activities which were all excellent. The restaurant at the hotel is fantastic! Pool is nice & refreshing!

Well situated, about 8 minutes walk from the beach, Arco Iris has a very nice, modern pool and restaurant, with clean rooms and modern bathrooms. Air conditioned which is good, as Tamarindo can be VERY hot. The only minor complaint I had was that the beds were pretty uncomfortable, but can be put up with for a couple of nights for sure.

great little place - far enough away from the main drag to relax but close enough to walk to everything, The hotel"s staff make the stay very personal and personable. RIchard is great at helping to plan activities and the restaurant is phenomenal. we would definitely stay there again.

Once we checked in, we were greeted by the owner, Richard, who wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. We loved our cute bungalow - the room and adjacent hammock turned out to be a little oasis about 5 min walk from the beach. Perfect size for a couple. Breakfast was fresh and light, served by the pool, and our server lady was very nice. Parking was on the street, but turned out not to be a problem. Hotel was nicer than some of the surrounding properties.

If you dont want to stay at a fancy hotel, but want the great service and maintenance, then this is the place for you. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Hotel Arco Iris is beautifully renovated. We stayed for a week the 1st week of Nov 2010. Stayed in the Deluxe room for 1 night which has 2 queen beds and is double the size of the bungalow room which we stayed in the rest of our trip. Rooms are very clean and modern. The staff is SUPER friendly and helpful. The free breakfast was a healthy granola with fruits and milk, toast, jam, butter, and coffee. It was a warm welcome to fill us up after an early morning surf session. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk downhill on a dirt road to the main road and beach. It was much better and quieter to be on this hill and away from the "tourist" area of the main road. Richard, the American expat owns it and couldn't be nicer, and so is Fanny. We will definitely be coming back and stay at Arco Iris if we're in Tamarindo.

Very pleasant accommodations not far from the beach The tropical grounds are clean and well kept. Nice pool. Comfortable hammock outside my door. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast included with room. Nice restaurant poolside open only for dinner. I would return.

Arco Iris is a short 5 minute walk from the beach and shopping area. It is a very nice place with a very engaged and helpful owner.

The owner and the staff at Arco Iris were wonderful. The hotel is a bit of a hike (perhaps 3 blocks) to the beach down a gravel road, but the quiet, privacy, hospitality, and the price made it a great place for us.

Me and my boyfriend stayed at ArcoIris hotel for 10 days in may 2009, when we first got there Richard the owner of the hotel was already expecting us, he was very friendly just like every other staff there... the rooms were very very clean and confortable, the breakfast was good, very healthy, fresh fruits, granola... We had our best meals at the Seasons (restaurante on site) it was so good and so cheap compare to what we would pay for that kind meal in US, we try everything in the menu, everything was good... we did not rent a car and the Hotel was pretty close to everything, I wish I was there again, I loved Tamarindo and I def recommend this Hotel!!!

My wife and I spent 4 nights here with our two young kids. There is a small but refreshing pool that is perfect for the children. The room was clean and staff friendly. The best part about this hotel is that it is rather hidden amongst the palm trees on a hill. It is peaceful. That's important, because Playa Tamarindo is full of beer drinking surfers at night. And that's fine, but you'll sleep good at this hotel. The continental breakfast is what one would expect. There is a pricey restaurant on site that we did not visit, but it gets its share of business. I would say it's about a 5 minute walk to the beach, bars and restaurants. Overall a positive experience.

Just got back from a week long trip to Tamarindo. Hotel Arcos Iris was awesome! The room was clean and comfortable, the staff helpful and pleasant and Richard, the owner, was extremely attentive and helped us to arrange tours as well as airport transportation. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the beach as well as very close to some excellent places to eat like Seasons (at the Arcos Iris), Dragonfly Bar & Grill, VooDoo (great for lunch) as well as Khahiki. When I return to Tamarindo, I would definitely stay here again!

We stayed for 1 week at this hotel which is set back from the main strip in Tamarindo. It's kept up very well and the cabana we got was very clean and the a/c was great! Kind of on the small side but we were in there only for mid day siestas and sleeping at night. The pool was nice and had plenty of empty chairs. The main reason we stayed here was to dine with Chef Shlomy. We ate very well at his restaurant called Seasons and had some great beef tenderloin, seared Ahi tuna, beef carpaccio, linguini & seafood pasta and Mediterranean Mahi Mahi. There is a continental breakfast included from 7a-930a which Coco the housekeeper would make. It was very healthy bowl of granola, some assorted fruit, milk, orange juice and coffee or tea. Also we met with Richard, the manager, the first evening we arrived. He was very nice and accommodating. Although, he'd wake up early and would loudly bark orders at his staff. Luckily, were pretty sound sleepers but for those who aren't this could be a problem. Otherwise, we had a great stay and the distance to town and the beach was a short walk which was nice since there wasn't as many drunken tourists to deal with.

This hotel had great reviews on other sites, and it colored my expectations. Pros: super nice owner very helpful for tours etc., large rooms, pretty clean and remodeled baths. The biggest highlight was the restaurant which was very reasonable for an extremely enjoyable two meals. Cons: the most mosquitoes, we got eaten alive here. kinda hard to find without good knowledge of the town. Its hard to pin down the specifics of what this hotel lacked. If you look at the checklist of ammenities it had everything pool, ac, flat screen cable tv, in-room safe, in-room fridge, dual vanities, large shower, clean double beds, art work, restaurant in hotel, free continental breakfast, hotel parking. So you would say wow, thats great! except everything was slightly lacking. The safe was an old key safe, the room was pretty bare except for some art, the right sink hot water didn't work, some of the tile work looked shoddy, 2 light bulbs were out, the tv was 15" the air-conditioner errored out intermittently every 2 hours or so, the beds were creaky and mattresses were both cheap and old. The linens were a couple of sheets and an old blanket, the pillows were old, the pool was really small, so maybe fit like 3 people. The continental breakfast was a bowl of granola that he had in his house with some fruit he cut into it. It was just really 2nd rate stuff, and it just felt really mom and poppy

The rooms are simple an d elegant. comfortable beds, first rate bathrooms. Richard, the owner, is a great source of information and help for anything concerning the area annd local activities.

La verdad es que me defraudó al llegar. Primero no hay indicaciones clara en la población. Se encuentra en un barrio sin asfalto en la calle, como sucede en muchas poblaciones, pero Tamagringo (Tamarindo) como le llaman, debería cuidarse más su aspecto general. No se accede por la calle principal. el desayuno bien atendido pero escaso. Las habitaciones pobres de calidad. el propietario curioso por su aspecto y afable. Internet falla a menudo y aunque no utilizamos el restaurante, toda la población local y visitantes cenan en él todas las noches. debe ser muy bueno.

Die recht kleine aber sehr gepflegte Hotelanlage besteht aus mehreren Gebäuden im Bungalow-Stil. Die Zimmer sind neu, geräumig, modern und tip-top sauber. Von außen recht unscheinbar, die unmittelbare Umgebung ist nicht besonders schön und gepflegt. Das Hotel liegt zentral, ca. 5-10 min zum Strand, Supermarkt ebenfalls gut zu Fuß erreichbar. Zum Besuch anderer Strände in der Umgebung ist ein Auto sehr zu empfehlen. Für ein paar Tage Aufenthalt auf jeden Fall empfehlenswert!

Cet Hotel est super sympatique, son patron Richard est très agréable et prend soin de ses clients. Propreté impecable et petit dejeuner excellent. Je recommande vivement ! super séjour !

The hotel was very confortable and in a nice location. The owner (Richard) and the staff were very kind. Richard was always trying to please the clients. The restaurant is also very nice. The only point that could be improved is the wireless connection as the signal is weak and doesn't allow the connection inside some rooms. We decided to stay more 3 nights there as we were very satisfied with the hotel.

We had some trouble to find it!! No Street names, signs, and even no roads in Costa Rica!! But once we've found it didn't want to leave!! Richard is so wonderfull and the place was amazing, verry clean, big room, yummie breakfast and not far from a beautifull beach!! The restaurant on the propertie was also outstanding so we didn't have to move at night!
