Apex Waterloo Place Hotel - إدنبرة

This hotel was a pleasant surprise, the room was great, quiet, and modern. Loved it and I will be staying at Apex hotels more often. A couple of observations, anyone with bulky luggage arriving by train may not want to follow the walking directions to the hotel provided on their website, it involves going up and down a couple of flights of stairs. Also, the isolated door where the instructions lead to can also be deceptively suspicious, don't be intimidated by it, just ring the bell to get the door opened for you and take the elevator to the lobby level.

2 nights in Edinburgh made stress free by the staff of the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel. Friendly and interested. The hotel was spotless. The room was immaculate. A 3 course meal in the restaurant was first class. Recommend to all!

Great value for money. Good size rooms. Staff were very helpful and held our cases as we arrived before check in time. When we went back to check in staff had put our cases in our room already. Would definately stay there again.

Highly recommended, top class service should be a 5*

Our bags were lost when we landed in Edinburgh and as soon as we got to the hotel and told them, one of the receptionists called the airline immediately and got on the case. When we got to our room, I didn't like it because I prefer rooms facing the street rather than the interior. I called and the room was switched immediately, we didn't have to go back to reception, we were just told to meet someone on the floor with the new room. The place was clean, and well maintained. LINDA, the concierge was AMAZING! She had a wealth of information and she was genuinely interested in us having a good experience. She gave us plenty of pointers and information places to visit. Lastly, we took a day trip into the highlands with the heart of Scotland tours and the pick up point was LITERALLY across the street from the hotel. A+!

We were on a short city break. The weather was not the best, so we availed of the food in the bar more than we usually would on such trips. We found it very good and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Location was great. Would recommend.

Lovely hotel in the new part of town. Just a 15 minute walk through town to some of the main tourist attractions (Castle, Palace) and in a great neighborhood, close to lots of shops and restaurants. Try a walk down Leith Walk to explore the more local/ethnic cuisine that Edinburgh has to offer.

Brilliant location, very comfortable bed, lovely staff. The room was a little masculine for two girls - perhaps designed around the male commuter - but it was fine for the one night we were there. The shower let the room down - it leaked everywhere and was a bit pathetic but, again, for one night, it was fine. We'd definitely stay again but would ask for a bigger room.

We had a wonderful stay at the Apex Waterloo. The location is absolutely perfect- about 3 minutes away from North Bridge straight across to the Royal Mile. Our room was massive and beautiful and super comfortable. From the super deep tub (awesome!) to the built in desk vanity. The bed slept very comfortably, and it was super clean. Great stay all the way around!

This hotel was excellent, although we did not use the spa facilities or the restaurant. The prices listed for breakfast seemed expensive, but there are plenty of nice eateries nearby, more reasonably priced. Car parking is not easy, particularly on a Saturday night, onstreet bays were full. Drop-off and pick-up also tricky, we had to double park while we unloaded luggage, before finding a car park in the vicinity, a ten minute walk from hotel. Ask advice of the hotel on booking, they have a reduced rate with a car park in the area, which we were unaware of. Very clean, comfortable, well appointed hotel, with pleasant, helpful staff. Very quiet too, although the hotel was busy. Would stay here again, and recommend it to friends.

Excellent concierge and generally the hotel was the standard I expect of the Apex. The spa was a little cold in the areas between the pool and steam rooms but that's a minor niggle.

Most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in!

this hotel weekend break was a xmas present and we had a lovely stay.would definately come back again and will gladly recommend to our friends back in ireland.

Hotel was great and in a ideal location really enjoyed our stay staff were very helpful and polite and can't be faulted just a few problems room and bathroom could have been cleaner and our room was right next to a pub which was open until 3am so not much sleep until after that also couldn't hear the tv due to music from pub felt price was a big high because of these issues

Very comfortable, excellent service, very good breakfast. No complaints at all!

Superb hotel with friendly helpful staff. Everything the business traveller needs - good free wi fi, good location (near to rail station and airport bus and taxis), mini-gym, iron/ ironing board.

We've stayed here before and found the hotel to be excellent. As before we found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the double room was clean and spacious. The hotel is just a five minute walk from the train station, and our main reason for staying, the Edinburgh Playhouse. We had a great time and would highly recommend the Apex Waterloo.

We had a superior room but when we arrived it was stiflingly hot. When we turned down the heating ( it had been set at 27 degrees) we noticed a horrendous damp smell throughout the room and bathroom. As we were only saying one night and were going out for the night we didn't bother to ask for a move. The room (apart from the smell) was huge,with an equally huge bathroom - the walk in shower alone would take a football team! The expresso coffee was very good. The bar area was very nice but can't comment on breakfast as we declined the offer - £10 each is a bit steep even in Edinburgh. We did buy the bath duck though - with a donation to charity at reception. I would go back but ask for a different room. (we were in 847)

Splendid. Jolly good show all round. I particularly liked the shower, so much so I even felt compelled to use it during my stay.

The hotel is central to the tourist sights and was very clean, comfortable with excellent facilities. I would recommend the breakfast as it was good value for money. Great service all round - would definitely stay there again.

Overall a great place to stay for a getaway, facilities top notch as were the staff. Restaurant was affordable and the atmosphere welcoming. My partner had a couple if spa treatments and was over the moon. Gum and pool very adequate for being in a city centre hotel.

We stayed there for 4 nights, it was a very comfortable stay. Our room nice and clean. The location is perfect, within walking distance to the rail station and other tourist sites.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights over new year. The hotel has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and the spa, pool and gym are great. The choice at breakfast is great - continental and cooked. We will bebooking this hotel again.

Had a great overnight stay - very comfortable bed.

Wonderful hotel. I did have trouble finding the hotel from the main train station which is actually very close..........3 people gave me wrong directions before I found the hotel. The hotel might put a readable map on their internet site.

This is a solid 4 star hotel that couldn't be in a better location. The staff is very friendly and helpful but it's not exactly value for money. It's worth it for me to pay more to stay here when in Embra as it's so clean and comfy, with very good breakfasts (but breakfast is expensive as well) but this is not "luxurious" , just very nice and solid. Gym is very clean and well equipped with newer treadmills and a wide variety of handweights, mats, and balance balls.

Everything about the hotel was terrific, but it was located a little too far from the city centre.

Location: less than a five-minute walk from Princess Street, Carlton Hill, St. James shopping centre and Waverly train station. 5 - 10 minutes walk to express bus for Airport. In short, excellent location! Room: stayed in a superior double with a nice view of New Town and the harbor/bay. Ikea-style design/furniture with a good bed and large-screen tv, large and pleasant bathroom. Service: excellent service, very polite and helpful staff, room service is good but would suggest heading for one of the nearby restaurants instead, literally hundreds of restaurants within a 10-minute walk radius. Conclusion: Can't recommend this hotel enough, I loved my stay!

Fantastic room, close to everything in Edinburgh, spotlessly clean, quiet, Huge telly, bed shower and a humungous bath. staff lovely, thank you.

Central for tourist sites most within walking distance. No noise. Small but nice swimming pool especially quiet before breakfast. Used restaurant once food nicely cooked but small portions not enough if you have been out walking around Edinburgh all day. Close to station if travelling by train.

Very good hotels - but quite expensive stay which did not include any breakfast, which was again expensive, especially if one only required a continental.

Nice hotel with great online reviews but I was really disappointed. Only there for one night and just wanted to go back to the room and relax before dinner. It was after 4pm and we were told that our room was still not available so were given another. Our original room for 2 singles was replaced with a handicapped room - one double bed and a shower in the middle of the bathroom. Hated it. It was also in the corner and was really dark and a bit depressing. I didn't ask for a discount because I had already pre-paid with hotel.com but it wasn't worth the price. So sorry too because I was really looking to staying at the Apex Waterloo. I'm sure the other rooms are beautiful.

Enjoyed the stay, although the room wasn't cleaned as well over the weekend as it was on Monday . It was noisy at night due to its close proximity to clubs , pubs etc and it seemed to be on the route for emergency vehicles as their sirens were very loud. Lots of drunks around at the weekend. Reception staff very helpful. Would probably stay there again.

Hotel was stunning and in and ideal location for sightseeing, accessing Waverley train station, Playhouse Theatre, shopping etc. Furnishings were 1st class and very stylish. Bedroom large accommodation inc. bed, sofa, dressing area, large bathroom with separate shower enclosure. Only downside was that it took too long to check in, and that after being seated at breakfast, we had to wait quite a bit to have an order taken. On that note though, staff were busy and very accommodating. Breakfast was outstanding, and included an excellent vegi choice inc. veg haggis, which I was very impressed with. Never had a breakfast so good in a hotel before. Husband was well impressed with the full English too. Would definitely go back. Much better than the Apex International in Grassmarket, in my opinion.

Tidy hotel with no real compliants although our room was a bit small. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bed big and comfy. Decent overall.

The hotel is located in an outstanding area and the main gathering rooms (lounge and restaurant) are attractive and the service excellent. However, my room was located outside a main hallway, through a fire door, down a flight of stairs, through another fire door and overlooked a dumpster. While comfortable and well-stocked, it was difficult to drag a suitcase up, down and through the fire doors. Other than that, an excellent value and attentive staff.

The Waterloo is a cool hotel, in a beautiful classic building. It could not be better located with the hotel entrance onto Royal Mile, and it's lower floor out towards The Playhouse. Staff friendly. Room comfortable and very clean. Only words of caution: Elliots Restaurant is good, but having been told we could only have a 90 min slot on Saturday evening we sat and dined all alone. No atmosphere. And the starters, whilst nice, were not waht was ojn the menu. When the waitress arrived with the Ceasar Chicken Salad (which is actually a terrine with 3 tiny bits of Cos lettuce)...she said 'Obviously its not a caesar, but its nice'. Mmm, migth've been nicer to know when ordering. The other consideration - The Spa. Basiclaly it doesnt feel like a spa. No reception, a locked door blocks two treatment rooms...so if the staff are busy you're locked out. A very un spa like experience, however that said once into the room I had one of the best massages Ive ever had so great treatment, poor spa environment.
