The Courtyard is a fairly new building, no older than five years, I'd say. The reason for that is the neighborhood it's in. For those of you familiar with Washington DC who haven't been back behind Union Station in a while, take another look. This was a truly scary part of town (and I'm from The Bronx). Just five years ago the Greyhound Station was located in this part of town. And is often the case, where the bus station lies, so does crime, drugs, panhandling and prostitution. I haven't been over there since dropping a friend at the bus station--and then waiting with her until she was safely on the bus--some six years ago. But since then, Washington DC officials have engineered a brand new neighborhood consisting of highrise apartments, tech companies and (under construction) NPRs new headquarters. Anchored at one end by Union Station and at the other by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms' new headquarters, the neighborhood is clean and safe. The only downside is since it is so new, the variety of restaurants is lacking, although if I'd have counted, I'd say there were close to a dozen, including the ubiquitous Starbucks. The hotel itself was very nice. Clean and neat with large rooms. The staff was VERY friendly. And, the price was good. Take this from someone who generally spends between 75 and 100 nights away from home each year.

We stayed here for 2 nights - the hotel is 1 stop from Union Station and a 10 - 15 minute walk to H street and all of the wonderful restaurants. I would definitely stay here again. Some people complained that the area was rough - it's urban, if you don't like the diversity off the city you should stay in the burbs. My family loved it!

Hotel 1 station away from Union station and itself not even 1 block from the train station. Only thing was this train station does not open until 7 on weekends and if you have a conference session starting at that time, you might want to book a cab or you will miss it. Otherwise, a perfect price and location. Friendly staff. Would stay again.

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights while in DC for the Nike Women's Marathon. Got a great deal from Hotels.com. Everything was superb, and the metro is right outside the hotel, so you can get to the heart of DC in a matter of seconds for really cheap!

I loved the Hotel but the location is a bit rough. I did not like paying $33/day to park.

The location of this hotel makes it easy to access all of D.C. via the metro. The staff is helpful, and the building is clean and well kept.

The hotel is very Nice and the staff is also extremely accommodating and friendly. The only downer is the area has stray people walking by but there is a 24 hour security guard right in front and valet parking.

This is good hotel, with very close metro access. However, not ideal for a family trip. The area is a bit sketchy after dark, as others have pointed out. The indoor pool is very small, very warm, and not as clean as I would have liked. The cable TV options are limited and there is no ability to rent movies from the room. Otherwise, the service is good and the restaurant is convenient.

This is a very nice hotel, especially for the price. It is located within moments of a metro stop, so it's very easy to get around DC. I couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough.

We stayed at this hotel because of the NCAA basketball tournament. It was convienent to many restaurants, grocery stores, and the Verizon Center. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very accomodating. Liked the security of the building. After certain hours, you needed to have your room key to get into the building, and you always needed to use your room key in order to get to your room when using the elevator. Great weekend. Thank you Courtyard!

Except for the parking fee everything was great. Not noisy at all and had a few restaurants and a big supermarket within walking distance. Would definitely go there again

Te only complaint I have is that our towels were not changed daily

It is attached to metro and large railway, so noisy. In addition, parking and loading area is very narrow and crowded. If you want to use Metro, it is good. Hotel room is clean and comfortable.

WORTH THE MONEY!!!!! Service was great! They kept our bags for us after checkout for several hours since our flight wasn't until later that night. It was right across the street from the Dept of ATF and several restaurants!!!! Metro was within 20 yards of the hotel's front door!!! So do not rent a car. YOu don't need it!!!! The metro is KING here!!! Union Station to NoMa Gaulladuet Univ Metro...wish we would have known that before we walked 1.4 miles from Union Station to Hotel!!!! Only drawbacks, construction on one side and you can only SEE the metro rails...NOT HEAR!!! 5 stars, people, I give it 5 stars!!!

We enjoyed the stay very much. It was convient and close to where we needed to be. The breakfast was good and the service A-1. Everyone was friendly. We would book rooms at this location again.

The hotel was great!! Very spacious, excellent location, the Metro station is right outside the building....the rooms were pretty and updated. There are no complaints for my stay. I would definitely stay again

Was looking to get away for the weekend and had never even to DC. The hotel is perfectly positioned for anyone using public transportation, as it's positioned right off of the "Red Line" of the Metro. The bar downstairs was nice, but grossly overpriced! ($6 for a Season Sam Adams bottle). Overall this was an excellent hotel experience, very clean, modern and a convenient location for tourists...will definitely be staying here in the future!

I enjoyed my stay. We received great service and I absolutely would stay there again.

It was the worst hotel experience we have ever had in 40 years staying in Washington DC - bar none! With the metro and Amtrak trains passing outside the room, all the surrounding construction, the construction taking place in the restaurant below our room starting at 6:30 AM, no street parking, desolate streets on a Saturday and Sunday evening, an uninviting hotel lobby...it goes on and on! Spare others and do not book this horrible hotel ever again.

great location for taking public transportation, unfortunately the hotel is surrounded by train tracks and construction so it was very loud but once asleep it was fairly quiet.

We thought the service provided by the personnel at the hotel was outstanding. All were very courteous, friendly and helpful. In fact they went out of the way to be sure that information requested was provided and helpful. We were very pleased by all. As for the room it was clean and the amenities more than adequate. While the location of the hotel was ok, I believe that was because of the construction work going on in the area that made it difficult to find.

In general good reasonably priced accommodation in DC. Hotel extremely convenient to NOMA/Gallaudet metro (Red line), although construction makes it less than visually obvious how one should exit. Hotel staff friendly and efficient. Convenience store and sandwich shop/deli places in immediate vicinlty, though real restaurants a metro stop or two away. Small wrinkle, I and several other guests when checking in were explicitly invited to "happy hour" which was NOT complimentary. (Clerk had not explicity said it was free but the way the invitation was issued I and the others were surprised to get a bill after we had ordered.)

The neighborhood is not that safe.. heard from the news there was robbery and murder in the metro in that area..

Great Stay...right of MetroLine and some great restaurants in the area.

I normally don't rate EVERYTHING very satisfied but, we were! Right next to the metro, 7-11 next door, restaurants across the street, restaurant 7 bar in the hotel, staff extremely friendly & helpful! Price was okay. We had a wonderful long weekend and would stay there again!

Great location, access to train station at your fingertips

While the location of the hotel was not difficult to locate, it was difficult to find the entrance. The entrance is on what looks like a side street; you do not try to enter in the parking garage (valet only, $33/night). However to get to the side street, you can only enter from one direction. Missing the turn is a mistake will cost you a lot of time due to the one way streets. However, the hotel is very close to the Metro and there is one restaurant open on a weekend night across the street.

I've looked at this hotel many times due its proximity to the Metro, where I can get to my events and sightseeing. I booked it this time due the great rates and was very pleased. The walk out the Metro door was about 50 yards. Security is everywhere, so I felt safe, but feel that if it's this necessary, what's up with the area? Comfortable/clean room w/ large shower (felt new!), free internet, a cozy sports bar atmosphere w/ good food, and several fast food joints nearby to grab lunch and/or dinner. I will stay here again, absolutely.

Great room for the money.

the room was spacious, clean, with easy internet access and a large bathroom. The Gym was well enough equipped and clean. However, the "pool" turned out to be a foot bath (only 3 feet deep), and the "clientele" surprisingly mixed: I got asked for money at the Starbucks stand where I ordered my breakfast. the staff seems not to be up to speed: several times the front desk did not answer the phone, and I had to wait for my stored luggage for a long time. the comfort of the room though made up for that, so I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel was great. We stayed for 5 days and the only complaint was the bistro. The wait staff was aweful but the food was good but pricey. Loved the convenience of the metro being right next to the hotel.

Hotel was conveniently located- it was very clean and comfortable
