Good. Liked the parking. Reasonable rates.

All I can say is that I hope the new owners remodel/clean up. It took a full minute of holding down the handle for the toilet to flush, it took 10 minutes to get hot water to the shower the first time we used it, the heat/ac unit did not work and the window did not open, so it was very warm in our room. Plus, there was a little field mouse in our room the first night. The ceiling tiles were rotting in the hallways and our room had a musty smell. This looks like a place that used to be "grand" but has been left to rot. I can say the breakfast was really delicious with a wide variety of food. This hotel has tons of potential, I just hope the new owners embrace it and make it a really great place to stay.

The hotel is Not handicap accessible and I had to carry very heavy luggage up stairs.The rooms are hit or miss. I've stayed in multiple rooms at this hotel over the past month, and that's where I stand. The staff is kins, polite and helpful, its some of the rooms' conditions that's the problem. Some of the ceiling tile squares would just fly out of place when the door is open, the plumbing in the shower didn't drain properly at all in one of my rooms. The remote just stopped working in another. There was a nail clipping on one of my towels when I took it off the bathroom towel rack, and some of the towels were stained and/or raggy looking. Stuff like that. The rate was so low on-line and the people were very kind so I stayed for the length of my time in New York. I probably Won't return.

I go to this hotel because it's convenient and the rates are reasonable. But the hotel is in serious need of some repairs. There are water leaks in the hallway that have ruined the ceiling and carpeting, and the rooms are always very cold when you walk (in in the winter). Both the heat and the hot water take forever to come up. But, the rooms are clean and the bed is comfortable, so for what I need, it suffices. I've never tried their breakfast, so I can't comment on that. Typically, I've only dealt with the front-desk staff, and they've always been pleasant and courteous. I'm very familiar with this area, so I know this building has been around for many, many years and it's been owned by several different hotel chains. It's in a good location, convenient to everything, easy to get to...if the present owners would put some money into sprucing it up and making the needed repairs, I think they would draw more guests and garner higher ratings.

The hotel is currently in terrible condition (April 2013). Water damaged ceilings, water damaged carpets, freezing cold hallways..our short visit was a damp, dank, depressing experience. We were booked for five nights but did not even stay one. I was embarrassed to have brought my wife there, and we are not particularly picky! this hotel has some serious issues that need to be addressed. I did get a full refund from hotels.com so that is good, but this hotel should NOT have a three star rating. BEWARE!!!!!

The hotel itself wasn't horrible, but far from great. Our room was never cleaned the first day and there were only two other people staying there so there was no excuse. We were told the cleaning staff was there and we requested cleaning at 9:30am when they arrive. We were out of the room all morning and most if the afternoon and came back to a unclean room. The free breakfast the 2nd day was leftover from day 1 and no bread. The evening restaurant menu was great but then had very few choices because most of the items weren't available. It just wasn't what they advertise it to be. It has great potential with the right management.

Hotel chosen because was listed as "Pet Frindly" On check in they seemed surprised that we had our small dog and told us whenever we left room he needeed to accompany us. Reservation also confirmed a king size bed but were told we had to take two double beds because they had no king size bed rooms for people with pets. Breakfast was good and everything else in order but was decidedly not pet friendly place

This is a reasonably nice hotel. Although some of the fixtures in the bathroom look like they could use an update and it takes forever for the water to heat up, our room was generally comfortable and clean. I was a bit surprised that there was no top sheet on the bed, just the comforter/duvet that serves as the bedspread. Since cleanliness in a room is my number one priority, I found this a little disturbing since I can't help but wonder whether they change/wash this bedspread every time they clean the room. Maybe I'm just a germaphobe, but when I get into a hotel bed, I don't want anything touching me that touched the previous occupant(s) of the room. I will note that they gave me the same exact room as my stay a month ago and during that visit, I saw a small brown stain on that bedspread, and it wasn't there on this visit, so maybe they do change/wash the covers with each room cleaning, but I would still prefer a top sheet be added.

The hotel has nice decor and the room was generally ok, although there was small brown stain on the white duvet on the bed that made me wonder "what is THAT?" Fortunately, the sheets appeared to be clean. The room was quite cold when we entered, and it took awhile to warm up--the heating unit didn't seem to blow very hot air, even though we turned it all the way up. That kept the floor/carpeting feeling cold--so cold, I actually thought it was damp. We left for about an hour and a half, and it felt comfortably warm by the time we returned. Also, it took forever for the hot water to finally come out of the faucets--it was icy cold for several minutes, to the point where we almost called the front desk because we thought there was something wrong with it. The front desk person wasn't overly friendly, but she got us checked in without issue. She also accommodated our request to check in early, which was very nice. I can't comment on the included breakfast as I didn't eat there. The rate was reasonable. Overall, it's an ok hotel, not as nice as some others in the area, but not bad.

Had to wait 5 minutes for the desk clerk to finish a phone call when I was checking in. There was a dirty already used damp wash cloth on the desk of the room. The fridge was not only loud but the paint was chipping off all over the outside and the inside looked equally unsanitary. The faucet/heat regulator thing on the tub was separating into three different components so hard to use. There was no fitness center and the one down the street we were supposed to have access to was no longer in business. The halls of the hotel looked like they had not been vacuumed for days - bits of paper, food and dirt very evident. On the plus side, the bed was comfy and the room was quiet. And, it was affordable.

Hotel was fine for our purposes. Had a brief blackout due to weather and staff was nice, however, they didn't have any flashlights for guests. Breakfast was included which was also nice. Very close to Rhinebeck Fairgrounds. Locust Grove (once owned by Samuel Morse) was beautiful.

Let me first say, that this is only my second review of a hotel. And not all reviews are negative. I recently stayed at a hotel Maryland and was beyond satisfied. However, I was not at all satisfied with my stay at this hotel. After entering, there was a musty,mildewy smell in the air. The decor was quite old, and so was the dust on them. The first room we were given had a bad, musty odor.....verging on mildewish. The air conditioner made a grinding noise and was loud. We were given another room, and the odor, musty smell was there too. Upon leaving for the afternoon, you could see that they recently had a flood on the first floor. The rug was stained and they had air fresheners plugged into the wall. The overall feel of the hotel was scary, smelly and not at all worth the price they were asking. Our 2-night stay, turned into a 1-night stay. Honestly, avoid this hotel if you can. Also, the surrounding area didn't look entirely safe. Don't walk alone. Also, the hotel bar....served one, the bartender doing her crossword puzzle.

Just needed a place to stay for the night so made the reservation sight unseen. As soon as I pulled into parking lot and lobby I knew it was a cheesy hotel. There was a smell and behind the Lobby desk was a fan blowing. Not good!

Staff were pleasant, but the hotel itself was not in good condition. Breakfast was limited for health-minded guests (no fruit or yogurt, no decaf coffee or herbal tea). A fitness center was advertised but apparently was not on the premises and therefore not accessible to those arriving by cab. Check in and check out were quick and smooth; the room was pleasant and clean despite the need for repairs.

Basic, and I mean BASIC 2-star quality. Room was clean but not very well-kept. The hotel had a full bookcase of old books you could read which was intersting. Breakfast was very dissapointing (I couldn't stomach the scrambled eggs). Hotels in the area are kinda pricey so this is an affordable contrast, but don't expect much.

Hotel was old and in need of repair. Beds were old and uncomfortable.

The room was cold heater not working and broke, was moved to a second room there were dirty used sheets and pillow cases on the bed, so I requested a different room and was given a different room the bath room was dirty there was hair around the toilet. I finally gave up because of the 5 hr drive to the hotel and was tired so I decided to stay in the room.

The hotel is located very easily off the highway. I think the lighting in the parking lot could be increased. Oherwise pleasant, non-eventful stay. Bed was comfortable and the hotel was very quiet.

not bad for the money but...the breakfast was horrible, the food was undercooked and cold. the front desk clerk was a bit rude and not very friendly at all.

The past few times we stayed at the Hotel the Bathroom had not been cleaned properly. Upon notifying the Hotel Desk they changed our rooms. The Hotel does need some maintenance and an internal face lift.

The hotel was clean and comfortable.

This place is a dump. The corridor ceilings are stained and falling down. I dont think they turned the heat on at all (January in New York). The hotel bar is a joke. The bartender didnt speak english and the beer was warm. I didnt even want to try the food. The bathroom was clean, but you could tell the corners of the room and behind the desk and nightstands have not been cleaned in years. The front desk staff was nice and the internet was fast.

The door outside was not secured and the door in the hallway was also unsecured.The service in the the lounge was manned by a waiter from the restaurant who had to be called into the lounge area to serve us.Was not impressed at all.

There is nice and quite but cafe is ok because not enough cook... Just encourage them to be good cooking! :)

The hotel itself was ok, nothing special. The room was nice and clean and the breakfast was pretty good.

My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised with the Clarion. It was certainly convenient, the bed was very comfortable (especially the pillows) – and we enjoyed a nice breakfast that was included in the price.

Friendly staff clean room and better than average breakfast with the room, which Hotels.com said was not included, yet it was so pleasant surprise. Also had said two double beds, but they were actually queens which was better too!

I am a light sleeper -- the rooms in the back look over a lake -- absolutely quiet, though now that I have stayed there I can see the noise in the front wasn't much at all. I had called in advance and asked if they could hold a room on the quietest side of their hotel. I know from experience that is a 'request' that hotels say they will do their best to honor, but can't guarantee. But they DID block off a room for me in the back. I overslept an hour past checkout on Sunday (DND on my door) and they didn't bang on the door to get me out -- they let me sleep, which was kind of them because I really needed it. Both nights I got in very late (am a musician) and the front desk clerk was very nice. Yes, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Also lots of feather pillows. Very comfortable.

Tv did not work, carpet smelled musty, NO hot water in the shower and their main restaurant in the hotel closed early. Would never stay there again!

Rooms not vacuumed around edges nor behind dresser in quite so time (dust, old fingernail clippings, etc.) Exhaust fan in bathroom did not work & commode did not flush properly. room 223 Staff polite and helpful but were unable to rectify problems.

I have stayed at this property many times when it was with another chain, but then it was under a private name for awhile. It is definitely worth revisiting but ask for one of the rooms with the new matresses - the beds and linens are very nice in these rooms. The staff is nice and the rooms are very clean.

The hurricane irene struck while in ny but clarion and staff made our stay seem as though the hurricane never hit ny. There basement was flooded and the whole floor of rooms yet they still manned emough staff to not interfere with the accomodations. It was located by other sites but not close enough where I had to conduct business but much more reasonably workable about the price per stay compared with the three dives in kingston who asked for twice the rate. So the traveling time was worth it.

The checkin and checkout process could not have been smoother. The place was very quiet perfect for sleeping. I was very happy with the room. The room was much better than expected. My only criticism is of the free breakfast. Not very satisfying. Edible but not as fresh-seeming as I would have liked. Ultimately had to get a more satisfying meal else where.

There are good bones here and once it must have been quite pleasant. But those days are long gone. Had I not had a dog with me and no other pet friendly hotels nearby had availability, I would not have stayed. Even my dog was looking at me like, "What are we doing here?" as we walked alog a dibgy hall with frayed carpet. In fact when we got to the room he went nuts - nothing like I'd ever seen before. God knows what he was smelling. I could see the stains in the carpet and the loose ceiling tiles, Not to mention what can only be described as a grubby phone and layers of dirt on the phone jack behind the bedside table. And then there was the tube television. Don't even remember when last I saw one even at a Clarion level hotel. Oddly, the bathroom was immaculate, with a plentitue of aowels, arranged very artfully. And the food in the bar, the decor of which can not be classified as there was none, was surprisingly good. Why, you ask, would I even have thought about eating there? I was tired and felt sorry for the very pleasant woman bartender. So I thought I'd try an appetizer with my glass of wine - when it prove dto be quite tasty, I went whole hog!

Although not new, and can use some updating, for the money this was a good value. Breakfast was included and good.

Great hotel. I booked this hotel the same day I checked in after a miserable experience with The Days Inn - and paid less for a MUCH nicer, cleaner room/amenities. Not to mention the customer service was hands down superior. While I was there for business, there were lots of families there as well. Highly recommend this hotel.
