The best part of our stay was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and they really meant it. We felt really welcomed by this. This was the best hotel stay I have ever had, and I intend to return for my upcoming big birthday.

It's not often that you have the opportunity to slip back in time but it's yours with a visit to the Ahwahnee in Yosemite. You can leave your luggage with the bellman if you arrive early and head off to one of the easy hikes nearby and still make it back in time for tea and cookies at four. This was an anniversary splurge and well worth it. Manager Stephanie and front desk attendant Tim were more than kind in making our visit a wonderful experience. Yes the room isn't gigantic but it was lovely with plenty of room and appointed with everything you need. Take a hike to mirror lake, come back and enjoy one of the many fireplaces to sit back, relax and listen to your heart slow down. Wonderful!

Just remember that the hotel was built in the 1920s and you are there for the location and you'll be fine.

Loved the hotel. Loved the park.

Great location but rooms lack sound insulation (badly!) and the food is average while the pricing is "first class".

Overall hotel experience was outstanding. The staff throughout the hotel was very friendly and accommodating with only one exception. In the middle of our stay, at the front desk one of the managers was extremely defensive, with no need to be, and dismissive of us in the end. That experience made us want to never come back. But that all changed when we were again treated well by everyone else, as we had been before. We would recommend replacing older gray towels with new fluffier ones. The bed was very comfortable in spite of feathers poking through the bottom sheet. The decor is quaint and charming and most likely identical to the original. Perhaps the hallway carpets could be replaced with brighter versions of the same designs, the idea being to make the interior brighter.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay thanks to a great front desk, maintenance, valet, bellhop, and last but not least, housekeeper Mindy. We arrived on a Sunday, after driving over 130 miles, just in time for our 2:15 p.m. brunch RESERVATION (made 5 months prior) in the dining room. Uncomfortable is the best way to describe our feelings as we quickly enjoyed the chefs' stunning buffet, wanting to leave as soon as possible to avoid further upsetting the already unhappy wait staff by keeping them past 3:00. Time-wise, that was the most expensive meal we experienced. We thank our lucky stars for the Ahwahnee Bar's limited, but delicious offerings. We thoroughly enjoyed their pastrami sandwich for our late night dinner.

This hotel is truly exceptional - a beautiful building in a beautiful location, and worth the expense for the experience. The only thing it falls down on is the quality of service (though the restaurant staff were brilliant) which is not what I would expect in America - otherwise a 5 star experience.

One elevator which is extremely slow, need to update rooms and need to better accommodate hotel guests at the restaurant. Overall the hotel is in a beautiful location and looks very impressive from the outside but very overpriced for what they deliver. Not worth the splurge.

Es sollte das Highlight des Urlaubes sein, es wurde die große Enttäuschung. Lage und Hotelbau wie aus dem Bilderbuch, aber... total überlaufen. Check in gegen 16 Uhr nicht möglich, gegen 17 Uhr immer noch nicht, erst nach heftiger Intervention Zimmer erhalten. Zimmer sind dem Stile eines Hauses um 1920 entsprechend. Bettwäche war verschmutzt, nach mehrmaliger Aufforderung wurde sie ersetzt. Fernbedienung fehlte, musste nachgefordert werden. Sollte bei dieser Kategarie nicht vorkommen. Essen Sie besser außerhalb: Überteuert,. Fisch meiner Frau war fast schon wieder kalt. Mein Steak wurde auf einem Teller "nackt" OHNE Garrnitur etc serviert. Ist ja bei McDonalds besser !!! Der Preis dafür eine Frechheit.
