Chicago South Loop Hotel - شيكاغو

I checked in, took one look at my dirty, stinky, run- down room, and immediately checked out. I can't provide any additional details, because the hotel was so bad I didn't stick around to find out.

I would recommend the Chicago South Loop Hotel as an excellent choice for affordability and location to the Musuems and McCormick Place. Free Parking in a secure lot cannot be beat! This hotel is only 3 years old, efficient, and clean. The front desk staff was helpful and even let me check in early before heading to the McCormick Place for my conference. McCormick place is a five minute walk to the West Building and a ten minute walk to Lakeside East Building. If you'd rather take a cab, it will cost about $4.00. There is an Italian fast food place down the street called Ricobenni's with free parking. Excellent food. If you are the McDonald's type, there's one close by too. Only Negative...it's a revitalized neighborhood, so don't walk around at night alone...but that's true in any urban city.

The staff working the desk were so friendly and helpful. We took their advice and took a cab to our destination and back which was the best advice ever. It was nice to come back to our hotel and enjoy a couple of cocktails in their Sports Bar. I was so surprised at how quiet it was in our room after reading reviews of it as somewhat noisy. We all slept great. We definitely will stay here again!

The L runs by the hotel frequently and late into the night. Be sure to ask for a room not facing the L. Rooms are ok, very nice front desk staff. They switched my room b/c of the noise. Also don't stay above the nightclub, also very loud. Plus: close to convention center and not very expensive. Would not stay there again.

A strange "fortress" like place - not in the best neighborhood, not close to anything most people would want to visit. No foot traffic access to anything - bus (the 29) only. Beds are uncomfortable, furnishing sparse. Clean, and the restaurant is well staffed with decent menu / preparation / presentation.

Upon check in, staff was somewhat cold, but changed room at my request to something more convenient. Water was freezing cold for 8am shower, but was fine rest of stay. At one point, locked out of our room because of computer system issues, but staff fixed situation after 20 minutes or so. No room service, and a limited choice of two dining suggestions, and they weren't cheap choices. Soda machines were nearly sold out of choices, and when soda did vend, it was often not the item we paid for. Housekeeping only visited the room once throughout a four day stay, and it was at an inconvenient time, so no cleaning of the room or fresh towels until we asked for clean linen. One or two problems would have been acceptable, but too many issues came up.

After discovering a blood stain on the bed sheet, the staff quickly found me a new room that was acceptable. The front desk people were efficient and friendly.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel until Sunday when it was time to check out. There was no bell man to assist me with my luggage. The front desk attendant said there was no one here. This was on Sunday 4/8/12 around 8:10am as I was checking out.

This hotel has very spacious rooms. I was quite impressed with it given that it is located near downtown Chicago. The cost was very reasonable especially given the cost of rooms in Chicago. The neighborhood is not ideal, but for a couple bucks, you can get a taxi into downtown or to the convention center. The parking was free, which is a bonus. I enjoyed my stay and would stay again if business brought me to Chicago.

I've attended trade shows for years at the McCormick Place and without question, this is one of the best places to stay. Although there are no shuttle buses to the convention center, there's always cab service at the front door. Those a bit more adventurous can easily walk over. Because of the money saved from staying here instead of a Michigan Ave hotel, I rent a car an park in the garage at the convention center. Even with this added expense I still save money. My last couple of trade shows I've stayed here and have been VERY pleased. The rooms have a small living room with a love seat, table and two chairs (at least mine did). There's not really much in the neighborhood although who needs it when you have a rental car. There's no charge for hotel parking as opposed to other hotels in the Chicagoland are. All in all, I'd highly recommend it.

This hotel is NOT on the south loop of the downtown EL as the name implies. And it is NOT a 2 minute walk from Union Station as I was told. It is located several miles south of downtown Chicago in a quiet neighborhood with no nearby amenities or sights. From downtown you must take the #29 bus on State St. to get to the hotel which fortunately runs fairly often 7 days a week. However, the bus stop is about 7 blocks from Union Station which is a very long walk dragging suitcases just to get on a bus. Once on the bus it takes about 10 minutes to get to the hotel on 26th Street. If you were to drive, they do offer free parking. If you stay, ask for a room on the far side of the hotel from the lounge which is owned by a separate entity within the hotel. On a Friday night they played loud music until 2am which vibrated the floor of our room and easily penetrated the silicone ear plugs I wore. Calls complaining to the front desk did nothing to solve the problem but we were promised the next day that it wouldn't happen again. The next night was less loud and with the fan running on the heater, the sound was drowned out.

Terrible location, unsafe.

I was very disappointed in the way the front desk staff responded to my inquiries! I will stay further away next time in order to feel as though I'm a valued customer

The hotel looks like new. The room was big and clean. The bathtub was ample and very clean. The comforter was clean, as if it were new and recently washed, unlike most hotels I have stayed in in the past. The location is very good, at a walking distance from Chinatown and the CTA station to get to downtown in no time without having to transfer trains if you plan to go to Michigan Ave. Free parking is very rare in Chicago and saves you lots of money for multiday trips. Wifi included without having to request stupid codes. Turn on your PC in your room, and you are already connected. I got a free upgrade even arraving one hour earlier... I forgot there was an hour difference coming from Indiana. Friendliness of the front desk people can improve, though. It's easy to put a smile on the face and say goodbye to the customer when you are leaving saying "Thanks a lot, have a great day!"... Is it that difficult to put a two-second smile in your face and say YOU TOO? That stupid detail can make a whole difference in your overall experience. We all have good and bad days but we should remember that our salaries depend on those types of experiences when we treat humans instead of animals that do not appreciate what we say to them. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and I will probably return to this same hotel hoping to be rewarded by a nice smile.

I enjoyed my two week stay at Chicago South Loop Hotel. What attracted me to this hotel was the free parking. Which is kind of a big deal when you know you'll be in and out of the hotel. Parking in Chicago is expensive, so this was definitely a plus. Aside from that, the staff was very courteous and helpful. Room was larger than average. The only issue we encountered were the key cards. They were very sensitive and demagnetized a few times. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

I love the convience of this hotel to McCormick Place for the big show that I come to town for but it could use a better front desk staff. They could use some customer service training.

the hotel was very close to the convention center which was a plus for us. the hotel was very clean and staff was accomadating

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The only thing that I would have changed is to update the decor of the room. I also enjoy having a continental breakfast included with the room. Other than those two minor things, the people were friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed our stay.

Whatever you do - DO NOT BOOK THE ROOM DIRECTLY OVER THE BAR / NIGHTCLUB. We woke at midnight to find our entire room vibrating - all due to the music blasting directly below us. Hanging pictures were shaking against the walls. At this point, hotel management was reduced to a solitary lady at the front desk. Luckily she was able to move us to a different room at no charge. And, she was very polite and helpful. Other than the shaking, we were very happy with this hotel.

I had a nice weekend, the lodge was great place to go. An ms jackie was so nice and helpful...!!!

Service was poor. No one at front desk at check in. When they did show I felt like I was interrupting them. Went looking for breakfast in the morning and couldn't find anything. After the desk clerk made me wait while she finished a conversation with another employee, she told me there was no breakfast available on site -- very disappointing. She actually recommended McDonald's (just down the road)! Room was great, price was great, service left alot to be desired.

Walking distance, ~ 3/4 mile from McCormick Place. Not the finest of neighborhoods, but I did walk around on my own without incident, including at night. Not a luxurious stay and bedding is outdated, but a nice budget based solution.

While staying at this hotel it really wasn't a good experience at all. Someone working the front desk sent two different couples to our room, also giving both couples keys to our room thank goodness we had the latch on the door. Then they sent maintenance to our room which we never ask for interrupting our sleep for the third time that morning. Room service wasn't up to part they left the dirty towels in our room after supposedly cleaning it. This really was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at and if I wanted such poor service I would have stayed at a motel. I would never recommend anyone to stay at this hotel!

Location is good. Very Clean Service is excellent neighborhood isn't good but gated parking helps.

My stay was pleasant, the room was clean and the amenities are nice but, they need to address the night parking issues. I assume that on Fridays there are some party functions at the hotel. This is fine but every Friday night I'm accosted by someone at the gate demanding a $10 parking fee!!!!! When I tell them I'm a guest they back off. But now I have to park very far from the hotel because of party-goers! Something must be done about this, its not fair for paying hotel patrons to endure this. It may very well affect repeat business.

A great surprise - great location, great price, great staff, great bathtub! Will stay there again.

Absolutely disgusting! This is not a racial thing, but this place is not a place worth staying. I have bedbug bites all over my body from head to toe and am fumigating all of my clothes since I arrived home last night. 8 days in Chicago at the Chicago South Loop Hotel and I couldn't get to sleep any night before 3 am, because of the ridiculous karaoke bar below, which was open until 2 am. Friday night had a 99th Anniversary party for a black sorority and I was uncomfortable making my way in the hotel, even to the elevators. Would never stay there again! Only stayed because the room was paid in full at a discount price through hotels.com.

Hotel was near McCormick Place where we went for a convention. Large spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Very clean and quiet hotel. Parking was included in the stay. Overall a great experience at the Hotel

It's really a nice hotel and that I strongly recomend for anybody, specially because they offer confort and affordable rate.

I was very skeptical after reading reviews on hotels.com. I heard negative comments from out of town visitors and I even asked friends about the hotel. I took a chance anyway and I was very pleased. There are two things they can improve, the bed can be better, it was was motel-ish, and they can provide better towels. I will stay there again though, it was a great week!
