This hotel is one of the best hotels I've stayed in for a long time. The room was really nice, totally Swedish. The service was great, the restaurant was wonderful, and the location was just right. It's on the island, so not in the middle of all the partying and noise. But it's close enough to walk almost anywhere. I would highly recommend buying a bicycle rental pass. It's a great way to get around the city, and dirt cheap. There are only two negatives I can find about this hotel. One, the menu in the restaurant is limited, and the same for both lunch and dinner. If you are staying here more than four days or so, it gets very repetitive, although very good. Second, the birds are exceedingly loud, so don't expect to sleep late in the mornings. :)

The position of this hotel is fantastic - however the restaurant was too busy at breakfast meaning we had to go away and come back twice. Also in the description the room was described as "bath/shower combination" which it was except for the bath part. Nevertheless as long as this is made clear it is a great place to stay in a great city

And interesting designs on furniture and lamps. Really nice atmosphere during the weekend. I guess even better during summer time! And NOT the average business hotel....

Is a long walk from the other parts of town, but very quiet. More style than substance: fan in bathroom did not stop running and WC also started up. Not fixed despite our complaint. Would be very nice in summer. Window opens.

The hotel is lovely, clean and cool. It's slightly off the beaten path, but only 10 minutes walk from Gamle Stan. We loved it! They should change out the annoying bathroom sinks! Otherwise a cool, modern look in a 300 year old building.

Nice Hotel if you travling withound kids. Hotel is not kids friendly and the room was very small and colt. 

Excellent in every way. Delightfull experience. a real treat!

Skeppsholmen is a much quieter island than Gamle Stan but all the sites are still very accessible either on foot or by boat. Lovely views across the water on the one side to Gamle Stan (the oldest island and the original Stockholm) and on the other to Djursgardsholmen (where you find Vasamuseet and the open air museum Skansen as well as Tivoli adventure park). A truly beautiful city with a very friendly people.

We stayed here for 2 nights and booked a superior XL room, unfortunately when we arrived the room we had booked (and paid for), was not available due to flooding problems and so we were given a very small room with a very small bed. After contacting the reception they moved us to an even smaller room but with a bigger bed (our preference) and offered us dinner on the house. This was acceptable compensation however I wish they had told us what the situation was when we checked-in rather than waiting to be caught out. We also had our superior XL room on the second night. The dinner was fantastic and we sat on the veranda and we're totally relaxed. The breakfast was also very good. In fact the whole hotel is lovely and our superior XL room on the second night was superb (I really recommend booking this rather than the standard/sea view rooms) and very spacious. The beds/pillows are very comfortable and the location really is the best of both worlds, as you're right by the water and it's lovely and scenic/peaceful and also you can walk into the old town in as little as 10 minutes.

One of the best hotels I have stayed in. Great location - in the middle of everything in Stockholm. Very relaxing, great outside bar/restaurant, very friendly and helpful. If I get to Stockholm again, I will definitely stay there.

This hotel exceeded my expectations! Great helpful, friendly staff! Comfortable beds & linens! A cool factor, super location, beautiful views, great breakfasts! The front desk staff made some great recommendations. I can't wait to go back. This hotel enhanced our Stockholm experience.

Quiet and peaceful/romantic location by the seaside makes this hotel a perfect place to relax. Rooms was of good standard, with some nice touches. No noise from adjoining rooms was clearly positive. Dark bathroom and our fridge did not work was main negatives. Very helpful people, though there was some waiting time in the reception, and it was not always serviced when we were there. Breakfast was simple, but very good, with great quality food. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Spent a week here on our honeymoon and had a great experience. The room was a bit small, but not unusually so for a European hotel. Bathroom was terrific and random hallway art was a nice bonus. The included breakfast is fantastic and should satisfy just about all appetites. Location is great as well, being both secluded on the small island but easily in striking distance of most of Stockholm. A bus runs onto the island, nearest subway stop is less than a mile, short (5 min) ferry takes you to either Gamla Stan or Djurgarden, and a short (<1.5 mile) walk brings you to the shopping district (Ostermalm) or central Stockholm.

Fabulous Hotel, great location, great room with sea view, Very friendly and helpful staff. No complaints at all, very good breakfast too!! Extremely quiet!

This hotel was definitely a "find". It is a Navy barracks that has been built into a contemporary hotel. The service is excellent, the food was good, the waterfront lounging area was a plus. It is on an island but an easy, short walk to the main attractions. Would definitely go back to this place.

We had a very nice stay at the hotel. They upgraded our rooms for free. Everything was nice about the hotel. The comments of other visitors about the sink and the shower were just rediculous. Everyhting was praktical and well designed. The breakfast was delicious, with everything you would ask for.The surrounding was also beautiful. Reaching town centre was very easy with the bus. In total, a very good experience (in a beautiful town).

Excellent service. Location good-at the end of a bus line-10 minutes to central station. It would probably be even more picturesque in summer. Very clean throughout. Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Just a few glitches: no suitcase stand and very limited place to store clothes. Lighting was marginal outside of bathroom. Room was comfortable, but spartan. No shower cap?! What's that about! Overall a good hotel, just not your average place.

Beautiful hotel on a beautiful island. Good food and excellent service. Good value for money, be warned, Sweden is expensive. We would stay there again.

Located on Skeppsholmen island and within walking distance to the historic city center,Gamla Stan, this hotel is ultra modern and provides a quiet, scenic, high quality, and reasonably priced place to stay while visiting Stockholm. Also, the hotel restaurant is exceptional.

My mum and I were having a weekend in Stockholm to go to the Christmas markets. Whilst the markets were a bit disappointing the hotel was not! Situated on one of the islands it is only a 10 or 15 minute walk into the city. The hotel was stunning - our room which was a good size looked out on the sea so the view was lovely. Staff in the hotel, especially Lynne at reception were very helpful. The breakfast was wonderful and dinner, which we had one night because it was too cold to go back out in the snow, was delicious. There was a function one night which kept us awake - but otherwise I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. If I go back to Stockholm thats where I will be staying!

What a great find! Lovely hotel in the middle of Stockholm. As you walk home in the evening you see the lights of the city across the water. Really hospitable, great breakfast (and other meals), friendly staff. 10/10 overall.

I was incredibly impressed with my stay at Hotel Skeppsholmen and it added immensely to my stay in Stockholm. The staff working there could not have been more helpful and the fact that I spoke little Swedish was no problem as everyone I encountered spoke fluent English and were always there ready with a smile. The rooms I stayed in was clean and very comfortable and decorated to a very high standard. The design of the rooms and the hotel in general is modern, fresh and elegant. Housekeeping were polite and efficient whenever I encountered them. The location of the hotel is magnificent, situated on a quiet island within walking distance of all the main attractions but far enough away to not be affected by noise. I simply cannot fault it and I will certainly book again, then next time I visit Stockholm.

Fairly good location. I am unsure if there is parking onsite, but staff is very helpful and courteous. Room was extremely clean. Takes about a 10 minute brisk walk to get from your hotel room to the National Art Gallery - this should help you approximate length. About a 20 minute walk to Gamla Stan. (And I am a sprint runner). Breakfast was AWESOME, generous and very protypical Swedish! Extremely safe - Sweden in general is. Charming hotel - was an old Swedish army barracks retrofitted to be a nice hotel. Extremely clean.While you have a 10 minute walk to town it is a GREAT value for your Swedish money - things are expensive in Sweden. Extremely quiet and generally responsive staff. Oh - I recommend the Arlanda Express and then T-Bana (Underground) to get you to Kuntsgarden and then it's a 15 minute walk - but if you don't have pull/roller bags or can't carry luggage quite far then cab it from the T-Bana stop as it will cost a mansion to get from ARL to the hotel!

My main concern before booking this hotel was to understand where it is located. It is on Skeppsholmen Island; the hotel looks across the water to Old Town. It is connected by a pedestrian and car bridge to the "mainland". By walking from the hotel, across the pedestrian bridge, and around the quay where the ferries dock, you reach old town on foot in about 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, there is a hop on-hop off ferry that operates every 20-30 mins that can take you over to Tivoli Amusement Park or Old Town in one direction, or to the Vasa Museum in the other direction. The room had modern, clean lines. It made me think of a high-end IKEA display. Everything, from the bathroom sink to the light switches are non-traditional, contemporary, and a little funky. Despite its location (on an island and surrounded by park land), we felt that the hotel kind of lacked a "personal" ambiance. It seemed to lend itself much more as a conference hotel rather than a romantic getaway hotel. It may be unfair, but it just seemed to lack a little soul. The breakfast was outstanding and far more than expected. The offerings included hot and cold items. We had a very nice stay and would stay there again unless we decided to stay actually within Old Town.

so new taxi drivers may not have heard of it . Minimalist so need time to work out how everything works. great breakfast buffet..Bike hire for free-excellent way to see the city. Staff great

The Skeppsholm Hotel is in an elegant eighteenth century building which has been very sensitively restored and stylishly converted to provide a most comfortable and relaxing hotel. On a small island a few minutes walk from the heart of Stockholm it has a tranquil environment with terrace and lawns going down to the water which is always animated with boats from cruise liners to tiny row boats. Behind are the excellent Modern Art and Architecture museums. The rooms are very comfortable and elegantly designed with lots of subtle touches - clearly the designers have a lot of flair and they have had a lot of fun! The bathroom 'pod' is really good although the hand basin 'stone' arrangement seems strange at first but works very well. Lighting is excellent. The public spaces are all carefully designed to show the original building features whilst including interesting artworks. The breakfast buffet is extensive.We eat on the terrace in the sunshine but there is a very nice dining room also. We also had dinner there some nights and the food is excellent although the menu is a bit limited. Overall I have rarely enjoyed a hotel stay so well and never had such a relaxing hotel in a big city. My impression is that the Hotel Skeppsholmen is really striving for distinctiveness and excellence, and the young staff actually enjoy having you to stay!

My young daughter and I stayed at Hotel Skeppsholmen for a long weekend in June. The hotel opened in October 2009, and its beautiful, understated modern design makes for a calm and very comfortable stay. The hotel is in a historic building, a former barracks, and is sited on a small island near the Modern Art Museum and Architecture Museum. The island is very centrally located, with bus and ferry service to other parts of Stockholm, and only a 10 minute walk to the center. We felt as though we were in a countryside setting while at the hotel. There is a lovely outdoor terrace with views of the water where you can have a meal or drinks. The setting is very park-like, with stretches of grass and many trees shading the scene. I felt two things could be improved at the hotel. First, the breakfast service. It is self-serve, which I usually enjoy. However, the tables were not set with glassware, cutlery, or napkins, so I found myself getting up and down many times throughout the meal to retrieve these sorts of things. In addition, you served your coffee/tea yourself, so that involved more than one trip to the buffet area in order to carry things to your table. Perhaps it would have been easier if my daughter was a bit more self-sufficient, but I still felt it was a bit too much work on the part of the guest. That said, the food was delicious and freshly prepared, and beautifully presented. Second, although the staff were very friendly, I did not find that they were able to provide very much information about about local transport (i.e. ferry timetables, etc.). I did not know until our last day that there was a bus line that stopped right near the hotel, which we would have made more use of had we known of it. Also, there was no tourist information readily available except for city maps and some select information presented in a book in the guest room. As a consequence, the lobby looked very sleek and tidy but those tourist brochures which often clutter up such areas are a

this is a unique hotel. new, clean, friendly staff and great location. the rooms are not huge, in an old building that was not built to be a hotel (i am not sure, but i feel it was used as a military barracks at some point). the feeling is that you are in a building that has a history. breakfast is very good. staff is friendly and very efficient. great experience

Hamnade på hotell Skeppsholmen när det var fullt över allt i Sthlm. Hotellet var fint, o fint beläget. Men lite off när man reser i jobbet. Speciellt när man kör egen bil. Hade jag bott där mitt i sommaren när jag varit på semestern hade det nog varit perfekt! Frukosten hade kunnat vara lite större och lite mer varierande, detsamma gäller för kvällsmenyn. Den var väldigt liten, och med en viss typ inriktning som jag inte tror passar alla.

Rommet var lite, og med skråtak. Dumt for dei over 1,60 m. Dårleg plass til barnevogn inne på rommet. Veldig god frukost.

L'impression d'être tout simplement sur une ile, ce qui est le cas. Super emplacement à quelques minutes des centres d'intérêt à pied. Ne pas écouter ceux qui disent que c'est loin du centre puisque de toute façons il n'y a pas un centre mais des centres. Super buffet petit dejeuner, copieux et renouvelé très souvent. Magnifique terrasse. Chambres impeccables et fonctionnelles. Borne à vélos à deux pas. Deux très bons resto à proximité (pratique pour le soir) L'un au grand hotel et l'autre Mathias Dahlgren. Accueil super sympa bref on s'y sent comme chez nous. Croyez moi vous aurez du mal à partir!!!

Svært fin beliggenheit i roleg parkområde ved sjøen. Flott designa rom med fine møblar. 5-10 min gange til dei mest kjende attraksjonane i byen. Fantastisk mat og atmosfære under frukosten. Sakna kanskje ein sofa eller skikkeleg kvilestol på eit ellers flott hotellrom. Nyttar gjerne dette hotellet ved neste opphald i byen.
