The found our stay in the Prince of Wales a very enjoyable experience. Upon arrival and departure we were greeted with a very warm and friendly receptionist who accomodated our every needs. She made us feel very welcomed and appreciated. The bar food was beautiful and was displayed in a very appetising manner. Overall I found the hotel very convenient and is located in the heart of the town. I would definately reccomend this hotel to my friends and it even has an added bonus of keenly priced accomodation. Very happy customer.

A comfortable modern hotel within easy walking distance of Athlone's sights. I was particularly impressed the friendliness of the service at check-in. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and the bathroom of a high quality. The Prince of Wales is an excellent base to explore central Ireland.

Stayed here for one night. Room well sound-proofed and comfortable. Good shower, room has teasmaid which is always good. Free tea / coffee in reception area. If I had one improvement suggestion, it would be to turn the heat down in the rooms.

I was extremely disappointed by this hotel, its not a 4 star, maybe a 2 star if it was lucky. I couldn't reccommend it to anyone and definitely wont be returning. I just looked up other reviews for this hotel on the internet and I cant understand all the raving reviews. Positives: Central location. Friendly staff Negatives: Scruffy - inside and out Smell of stale cider in the lifts Bathroom in room wasn't cleaned properly - stains on toilet seat Very expensive considering what it has to offer.

Comfy hotel

A very nice modern and comfortable hotel. The staff were super friendly and very accomodating. Food was excellent in the restaurant and service spot on with a great atmostphere. We got a free upgrade as it was our aniversary and had a fantastic room.. Highly recommended..

The Prince of Wales was a quiet clean hotel that was worth the price. The only negative was at check out my wife and I were treated in an absolutely rude fashion by the hotel receptionest.

We had some trouble finding it, initially with all the one way streets in town. It is tucked into a side street. The hotel was clean and very comfortable, nice sized rooms. The staff was friendly : very helpful with directions to neighboring destinations.

My room was large and clean! Great location! Enjoyed my stay!

Not a 4 star hotel. But decent enough 3 star. Rooms are quite basic and my room didn't offer WiFi, so I had to plug in my laptop to get online. Also, no pool or gym, which is unusual for a hotel in Ireland.

Confortable rooms with body shower. Excellent internet connection

Everything was what was expected. Ideal for stop over or business trip

the hotel is located in the center of the town which makes it convenient for shopping and theatre. bed room was of medium size with no view but very clean, bathroom very well laid out with large shower. overall breakfast was good except on the two mornings we were there they ran out of orange juice and the toaster was broken which resulted in your bread been burnt. staff were very friendly and helpful

A really nice and well priced hotel with lovely friendly staff in a good location in both the centre of Athlone, which is the centre of Ireland

Is very convenient to all shops and cafes of which there are many. Only a short 5 min trip to rugby ground. Where Eng U20's won the 6 nations Grand Slam! Only downside was we walked past the Hotel on our arrival as the side of the Hotel faces the street and there is not a large sign or door visble. Particularly as a lot of people were probably by one of the doors smoking. Coffee @ breakfast a bit weak and cold.

i thought my stay was very enjoyable but i would have loved some bathrobes in my bathroom for that extra comfort:-)

Centrally located, great food, friendly and helpful staff; Nice for a short / weekend break; Easy access to shopping, bars and river shannon tours.

Had to ask for upgrade rather than be offered it when original booking found to be wrong. However, nice staff who arranged it quickly. Very comfortable room with all possible requirements laid on. Very nice breakfast. Overall very pleasant stay. Would go back!

carpets stained,very noisy due to construction below room

bargain at the price - although I would not want to pay rack rate on a noisy saturday night - the room was comfortable and had a good shower and tea and coffee available

Our stay in the Prince of Wales Hotel, Athlone, was everything we expected and more. The staff were very inviting and helpful. The room was airy and bright. We cannot find fault on anything. The hotel is close to centre of the town. There was lots of information with regard to leisure activities available in the area. I would definitely stay at the Prince of Wales again if I ever visit Athlone and I would recommend the hotel to anyone as a great place to stay

Have stayed in many hotels but this is one to remember for all the wrong reasons! Our group consisted of 3 adults and 1 child. There were no amenities at the hotel eg.no swimming pool or play area for children of his age. The service at the bar and restaurant was sub standard.We waited approx 45 mins for our food to arrive, how long does it take to cook rare steak?! The potatoes were cold and the steak was cooked medium to well. Our meals were returned as they weren't cooked to our order. The chef accepted this and we were offered the same meal again we ordered the same and this time they got it right! but it was so late and security asked us to take my 10 yr old out of the area as it was almost 10 o'clock!! We still hadn't eaten our meal!! The receptionist on checkout was very nice and helpful and a young man who worked in the bar the previous night apologised and offered us a bottle of wine. These two people were the only good thing about this hotel. Breakfast service was very slow and myself and others had to ask for our order for cooked breakfast to be taken. We also had to ask for condiments as there were none on the table and none available at the service area. Would not stay here again and would not recommend it. Most of the staff need to be trained in customer service and should know how to welcome guests, unfortunately this hotel fails on both counts.

this was a nice hotel in a small city. Very satisfied. And we also found a nice pub with music and people. Breakfast was good, but Irsh food is no that good.
