Riad Noor Charana - مراكش

The host of this charming Riad was very welcoming and helpful. My room very clean and comfortable, although at times the noises from the nearby alley were disturbing. But for me was minor in the overall scheme of things. Breakfasts (primarily Moroccan breads and cakes) were plentiful and of high quality. The staff, although most have no English, were very kind and helpful. Only drawback was lack of functioning Wifi - although a laptop (with FRENCH keyboard which was rather awkward for an Aussie) with internet connection was available free of charge. I happily extended my stay by a few days. Overall, I felt it was good value for money and would certainly recommend it to other travellers.

Staying at Riah Noor Charana was a highlight of our trip to Marrakech. After reading review after review, it's hard to determine if a place that fits your budget will suit your needs and Noor Charana was a perfect match. The small staff was excellent and accommodating (Moha is great!) and the comfortable rooms, the breakfast, the peace and tranquility - all of it was just what we needed. There are no great frills or over-the-top luxury - just the comfortable basics with nice touches. And Rene Jean was very accommodating with our last minute travel changes due to flight cancellations which caused missed connections. We are very indepedent travelers and are good at navigating new places, but we're very happy to have arranged the pick up at the airport. We would have found the riad based on the great directions that Rene Jean provided, but with two teenagers, pulling luggage down narrow, crowded roads, dodging donkey carts, etc... it would have been a trying and exhausting journey. Instead, it was hassle-free and got the trip off to a smooth start. There's enough hustle and bustle once you get out on the streets, we didn't need to get frazzled before we even started! The location is great - just a 5 minute walk to Djeema el Fna and the souks are right down the alleyways surrounding the Noor Charana. A great find and highly recommended.

Tasteful place, excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff. Room was ok but bathroom was tiny, and sometimes there was no hot water. Location is ok, in the heart of medina, though it was on a dark and lonely alley that seems kind of dangerous.

We stayed at Riad Noor Charana for four days in July and had a great time. It is in a great location, only five minutes from the main square but tucked away in a quiet little side street. It is easy enough to find following the instructions Rene sends after booking. The room and public areas were spotlessly clean and the airconditioning was a blessing after the hot hustle and bustle of Marrakech. Rene and his staff were very polite and accomodating. The roof terrace is a great haven of peace and quiet which traps the sun nicley but also picks up some refreshing breezes in the evening. During our stay the roof was abloom with white flowers from a number of potted plants, all carefully tended by the owner. Breakfast was ample and delicious with superb coffee. Our stay in Marrakech was great, largely supported by this lovely Riad which provided us with a convenient spot near the centre to rest our feet, cool down and relax in the middle of the day before going out to do and see more. A great find!

The service is excellent at this Riad. Rene-Jean (the owner), Moha and the other staff were tremendously helpful, including the late evening mint tea welcome & check-in, the advice & guidance by Rene-Jean on trips, arranging taxis to & from the airport, sightseeing (especially the Atlas mountains) etc. Food was ample, very well cooked and value-for-money. At least one meal on the terrace is a must. The rooms are small but very nicely and simply decorated and spotlessly clean. The lounges on each floor around the courtyard are comfortable and very quiet. The location, (indeed down a dark alley off a narrow derb) is initially unpromising, but you get used to it and the riad is very handy for the main square and souks. But......and, to my wife and I it is a big "but", the bathrooms....oh dear! They simply do not measure up to the rest of the riad. There is plenty of hot water, it is true. But simple things like rusty plug-holes, loose basin taps, sloping basins (which leave water standing in the corner), grubby shower heads which have seen better days and some distinctly dubious tiling made for a rather uncomfortable and potentially unhygienic experience. This is all the more surprising considering the immaculate decor of the rooms and courtyard and the fact that improvements could so easily and cheaply be made. So come on Rene-Jean, you are justifiably proud of your riad - sort out the bathrooms and then a 5 rating would be in order.

Riad Noor Charana er en behagelig riad sentralt i medinaen, kun fem-ti min å gå til Djemaa el Fna(hovedplassen), den ligger godt gjemt inn en sidegate, og tilnavnet "Riad of Silence" passer bra. De har koselige rom med gode senger, fantastisk god frokost, en fin takterrasse, og betjeningen er hyggelig og behjelpelig. Anbefales!

Idéalement placé dans la Médina , un acceuil efficace et trés sympathique, un petit déjeuner excellent, bref le Riad pour découvrir le centre de Marrakech.

Un'atmosfera magica. Dalla confusione delle strade della Medina ad un angolo di pace e silenzio. Colazione molto buona, camere semplici ma davvero curate. Personale disponibile e cortese. Assolutamente consigliabile, anche per l'ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo.

Erg leuk, kleinschalig en gemoedelijk hotelletje. Gunstig gelegen t.o.v. bezienswaardigheden en centrale plein. Aardig en behulpzaam personeel. Op verzoek wordt er gekookt. Heerlijk! Eigenaar heeft veel goede tips en kan allerlei uitstapjes voor je regelen. Kortom, een verblijf in dit hotel is een echte aanrader!

Das Riad Noor Charana liegt mitten in der Medina, und somit sind alle Sehenswürdigkeiten Fussläufig erreichbar. Das Hotel ist eine kleine Oase in mitten dem Trubel, es lässt sich gut hier ein paar Tage verweilen. Für uns (zwei Frauen) war es wichtig das wir uns in der Umgebung frei bewegen konnten und das war kein Problem wir haben uns immer sicher gefühlt. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hin fahren und ein paar Tage relaxen und die Stadt genießen.

Very nice place: genuine, clam and decorated with taste. Not too pretentious though. I travel a lot, but this is exactly the kind of place I was longing for. Very nice staff, helpful and eager to please without being intrusive. Breakfast makes you happy for the rest of your day. Probably the best tajine I had in Morocco. In the heart of the medina so very central and close to all attractions. A must for a very reasonable price. Best regards,
