The Holiday Inn Express is across the street from the main Marseille Train Station and is incredibly convenient to it especially if you have an early departure or late arrival. The hotel looks new and is very modern and comfortable. In addition there is a nice free breakfast and free WiFi. The only drawback is the neighborhood. It is barely OK and there are almost no restaurants. I repeat no restaurants. There are some very nice restaurants down by the harbor and especially on the east side of the harbor

Holiday Inn at Marseille France is right across the street from train station, extremely handy also it's a nice 15-20 min walk to view port

This is the usual Holiday Inn Express - modern and clean with a reasonable breakfast. It is very conveniently located if you are travelling by train, being across the road from the main railway station. Not in the most interesting neighbourhood, but only 10 - 15 minutes walk from the Old Port and other sights. The rate includes a good breakfast - the usual cereals, cold meats, cheese, fruits yogurts etc, plus juices tea and coffee. If you need any more there is a supermarket next door (turn left out of hotels). Rooms are typical Holiday Inn Express - smallish but well serviced and adequate, with tea/coffee making facilities. We had a room at the back and it was very quiet considering the hotel location. Overall, whilst not cheap, this hotel is convenient for anyone travelling to Marseille by train and staying for a day or two.

Very clean and comfortable with good service. Close to train station so very convenient. Not a long walk to the harbor and city centre also.

Convenient location near the Gar & Metro. An additional 2 Euro/night charged as city tax. Breakfast satisfactory, but exactly the same every morning. Unsafe neighbourhood.

We stayed at this hotel in 2010, and thought it was so good that we stayed there again this year. The hotel is very convenient, being steps away from the train station. The receptionists, indeed all of the hotel staff, are friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The rooms are just the right size. A key strength is the breakfast - so many choices, and constantly replenished. Its location means that you get to see a little more of Marseille - you get to see local people, rather than simply tourists, which is great if you want to practice your French! From the hotel you can walk easily to Vieux Port, Cours Julien, Noailles, and Palais Longchamps.The only difference in our stay this year was that we didn't receive a little parting gift (a piece of the famous soap of the region) as we did last year, but this isn't important. I'd thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This is my kind of place -- the room is snug with all the essentials, very efficient layout, you're not paying for more space than you need. Very clean everywhere (well, the stairwell is a bit dingier than the rest), and the staff were extremely nice and heplful. Nice breakfast buffet -- excellent croissants and good selection of teas. Free wireless -- only gripe here is that only one wireless device can be used at a time in each room. Super-convenient to the train station, great selection of ethnic restaurants within a 10-minute walk, and reasonable walking distance to the port. Good value for the money. Highly recommended!

the area, being next to the railway station is convenient for those who come by train.

The Holiday Inn Express Saint Charles is just across the road from the TGV station and a short walk to the Vieux Port. Be warned though...........the station area is very noisy at night and arriving at 2200 hours I had to run a gauntlet of unsavory characters at the station entrance to get to the hotel. The hotel is excellent and great value though.

Convenient location - right across from TGV / Metro station. The only improvement I wish to see in them is that either they should have more staff or more staff training for them to be able to multi task because they have a bar right next to the front desk which is supposedly open until 2:00 am but there was no one there to serve. We sat there for a long and no one attended us. As soon as there were check-in customers, front desk clerks were heavily involved with them and they did not seem to have any room to give us any attention.

Hotel is nice, room is large, bed is very comfortable but location is bad if you are in a romantic trip. At nigth it is dangerous to walk around the hotel.

The Holiday Inn St. Charles in Marseille is very conveniently located across the street from the main Railway Station (TGV), which as well houses a shuttle bus service for 8.5 Euros per journey to the Marseille Airport nearby, a 1/2 hour journey leaving every 20 minutes during the day. So it's a great location for connecting travelers. In addition, while the immediate neighborhood looks a bit run down, a 10-minute walk from the hotel down the boulevard to the waterfront puts you right in the middle of what is going on in Marseille nightlife, harbor, and so on. The rooms are all brand new looking/immaculate, the continental breakfast buffet was great, and the front desk very efficient on checking in and out. Overall, for the money, a very good stay!

Very good hotel in all means, clean, right in the middle of the town, friendly people, good beakfast, recommend it to be be rated as 4 star hotel. faster internet is requested to be introduced.

A great location for having arrived in Marseille late in the evening since it's situated right outside the St. Charles train station. If you need to catch the train early in the am, it's also an ideal choice. Breakfast was quite good with nice service and hotel was very clean. Check-in staff Franck was especially welcoming and gave good recommendations of restaurant and things to see. One complaint is that the bed was very uncomfortable. We could feel the springs and had aching back when we got up.

The town itself is not a destination town. The hotel made the stay a nice one. The staf fis exceptional, very friendly and helped us in every way.

The condition of the hotel is very good since it is so new. It's very clean and the size of the room is good. The staffs were all amazing and helpful. Breakfast was very good as well (juice, ham, yogurt, bread, fruits etc.). The best is its location - it is right across from the train station which was important to us since we took the train to other places a lot. It was about 20 to 30 mins walk to the main city center, which wasn't too bad. But there were some "strange" people at night so need to be careful with your wallet. One night, on the way to the groceries store, one guy said something to us on the street and we ignored him (I didn't understand him, I guess he was speaking to us in French and we don't speak French). He followed us for about 1 block and we quickly went into the groceries store as soon as we got there. Fortunately, we didn't see him after we left the store but I guess everyone needs to be careful whereever you go.

The hotel was clean and efficient with decent sized rooms. The location was convenient for the train station, however, that area of town is not great for a tourist. I had expected this so overall my opinion is very positive.

I would highly recommend this hotel. It's proximity to the Saint Charles train station was literally a hop, skip and jump across the road, so within minutes of arriving in Marseilles, we were freshening up in our lovely fresh hotel room. The staff were very friendly and helpful and we were able to leave our luggage there after checking out.

hotel propre, personnel courtois et efficasse.Lumineux, petit dejeuné compris dans le prix.En revanche 12 euros le parking ce'est cher !

C'est un hôtel de très bonne qualité. Il est situé juste à côté de la gare Saint-Charles. On entend pas les trains, mais un peu les voitures (au 2° étage en tout cas). C'est un peu loin de coin plus sympa comme le vieux port 15-20 mn à pied, mais 5 mn en métro.

Accueil de grande qualité, propreté irréprochable, chambre deux lits 90, on manque un peu d'espace... télé écran plat un peu petit...Coin salle de bain et wc ensemble malgré une porte à double usage ce qui ne sert absolument à rien.. Economie d'une porte peut appréciable..Hygiène excellente... Il faut cependant demander coton tige, savon, gel douche, charlotte à cheveux... encore des économies...Prix correcte fort heureusement etsympthie du personnel. Petit déjeuner copieux et divers

A proximité immédiate de la gare, et à 10 mn à pied du vieux port. L'environnement est un peu moyen, comme pour toutes les gares, mais sa situation était idéale pour une famille non véhiculée. L'hôtel est très bien, calme, et le personnel accueillant. Petit déj. sympa et copieux. À noter que pour une famille de 4 personnes (2 adultes et 2 enfants), nous avons eu une chambre double dans laquelle il y avait un grand lit et un canapé lit, d'où un côté exiguë non prévu... Nous y retournerions sans problème.

Que dire sinon que du positif sur cet hôtel : tout proche de la gare, petit déjeuner super copieux, une chambre bien agencée : bref que du bonheur pour visiter cette belle cité phocéenne (les calanques, le Panier, le Vieux Port) bref séjour à refaire.
