Sandaway Waterfront Lodging - أوكسفورد

This is a delightful little inn on a river right off the Chesapeake Bay. The setting is picture perfect for relaxing and resting. Not much of a nightlife but that goes along with the tranquil part. The inn is well maintained with a nice selections of coffees and snacks. Bring a book or grab one from the library and sit in one of the beach chairs and listen to the waves or sit in a hanging chair on the back porch and listen to a warbler.

I needed a little rest and relaxation and Sandaway was the perfect spot. the rolling lawn down to the beach was dotted with white Adirondak chairs with a beautiful view of the water. i brought a book with me but only read a few pages as I spent most of the time gazing out at the peaceful view! The breakfast basket provided at my doorstep the next morning was filled with goodies and a hot pot of coffee. remember to let them know if you are not a coffee drinker! There is a 24 hour cozy library just off the entryway which has snacks and beverages at no cost. The beach offered a fun collecting spree of sea glass. I actually found several rare pieces of hand blown glass! I will definitely return next fall.

We were very pleased with our stay. The photos and descriptions were spot on. The location is serene, relaxing and beautiful.

Sandaway is in a quiet little town. You are away from heavy traffic and crowds. Didn't see any shops and there was the Morris Inn and Salter Tavern on the corner we dined for dinner and breakfast. Room was victorian decor and spacious. We requested a room with a view of the water. There are no tvs or internet service in the rooms. The do have a community room with a tv and internet access. This a a good place to go if you want to" get away from it all". We sat by the water and enjoyed wine and beer and the view. The only negative when we were sitting outside was the mosquitos. We returned to our room and enjoyed the view from our window. We've never stayed in a bed & breakfast so I'm not sure if the price we paid was good. We only stayed one night for our 25th Anniversary and I feel that we paid a little too much. Overall it was a perfect place to enjoyed a quiet evening with my husband.

Great place to stay, right on the water. We were in the "Cozy Room" which is quite small, but still very nice. We enjoyed the basket of breakfast in the morning, complete with Washington Post. Oxford is a sleepy town, and the tourist demographic skews older, but it's a great place to go to relax for the weekend and get away from the hustle and bustle.

My husband and I came to Oxford for our anniversary getaway. We found what we were looking for in this beautiful historic town. The Sandaway was very charming. We did not have a room fronting the river, and I do regret that. The view from the lodge was wonderful. I would have liked to view it from the room. But, that was our choice. The proprietors were more than friendly and helpful, and I really was not ready to get back to life as usual. The ferry ride over was very neat!

This B&B is a get-away spot. Very sleepy community. Water sports and shopping seem to be the most common activities. Our room was not in the main building, so we didn't have a water view. The room was nice, but a little dated. The staff was very welcoming and sitting on the lawn at sunset was the perfect end to the day.

Small room should be advertised as tiny – no drawers or space for cases. Unnecessary to have two bathrooms when there was no chair! Would also help to say that despite having own beach by seaside, jellyfish make swimming impossible in summer. Shame, as the location is beautiful, service good and communal areas well done.

Sandaway was quiet and out of the way, very relaxing and beautiful. Sandaway staff were wonderful. Townspeople not so nice, would not go back after how we were treated. Our money is spent just as well somewhere else. Oh, and the bathroom in our room was for those under 5'4". I realize it is an older property but the toilet was about 6 inces from the wall.

The Sandaway was amazing. The facilities were excellent, and the private beach allowed for having a glass of wine in adirondack chairs as the sun set over the Tred Avon river. The stars, which you can't see here in DC, were incredible. It also is very close to the Robert Morris Inn, which had excellent breakfast and dinner options. I highly recommend that you stay at Sandaway, it is a bargain for what you receive.

This is a B&B in a lovely waterfront setting on a peninsula with small sandy beach. Nearby is a fine restaurant in the Robert Morris Inn. Nice area for walking and biking with harbor/sea views. We found ourselves in a VERY small room (appropriately named "Cosy") which is only slightly bigger than the queen bed. WC is in a closet in the room but shower is at end of hall. This arrangement probably kept the price down but may not be acceptable for some. Room was clean and air conditioner worked fine on a warm day.

Though we had the smallest room in the hotel and were a bit cramped, we loved our stay at Sandaway. Our reservation was for one night only but wished we could have stayed longer. Great river view from lawn and I'm told some rooms that face the river.

Great B&B. Grear service. Would strongly suggest one of the larger rooms overlooking the water.

We loved the basket brought to our door in the morning. I was a pleasant change from going to the dining room. Very comfortable room. We would go back again.

Just across the water and seven miles by Ferry from the tourist trap of St Michaels, MD is the beautiful town of Oxford - real people lead real lives here and they do it at an unhurried pace which is so refreshing for those of us who live surrounded by sirens, buzz and back ground noise. The Sandaways Waterfront Lodging is a lovely location set in a wonderful town where you have the chance to enjoy the things that make life worth living. The Lodging is set in its own mature grounds that front on to the bay and we were delighted by the sound of the waves lapping on the private beach as we drifted off to sleep. We were blessed with a wonderfully comfortable room with a spectacular view across the water - everything we could realistically want was available; I must make it clear that this is not a modern purpose built hotel and therein lies it's charms. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to cycle, kayak, sail, walk, bird watch, fish or just sit by the bay and watch the sun disappear over the horizon. There is plenty to do and the town of Oxford has plenty enough to titilate the taste-buds especially when the crab season is on. If you are used to super luxury then treat yourself to a taste of a R&R as it should be .... a real break in a real place with as much or as little as you want on your door step. The only thing I would ask is that you don't tell your friends as they will want to visit and this will make it more difficult for me to get a room at the Sandaways in the future! Well worth every penny.

The B&B is on the chesapeake bay tributary, with a grassy knoll and lawn chairs, plus a little beach with real sand. Great little sitting room by the beach, too, with refreshments. Spouse and I went on a weekday in May and sat under the gingko tree, and it was quiet and wonderful. I imagine it would be more crowded in the summer. There is also a larger public waterfront area down the street, and the whole little town makes for a lovely stroll. Inside, the room is decorated in typical B&B style, flowery wallpaper & etc. We stayed in a suite with a 2-person tub, which was quite nice. However, the a/c was suboptimal and we had to sleep w/ windows open which reduced our privacy. For breakfast we chose a continental style fare delivered to our room in a basket, and we enjoyed it on our private porch outside our room. Down the street is Robert Morris Inn, with Salter's Tavern. Found out after eating dinner that it just opened a year ago by a well-known chef, but we had a lovely dessert. Can't wait to go back to try dinner.

The perfect spot if you're looking to get away from it all and have TOTAL peace & quiet! Beautiful surroundings and the water views are spectacular! Great food as well!!! We'll be back!

The room was comfortable and a good size. Could see a little bit of the water from my room. Bed was pretty hard. But overall accommodations were good. The best thing was the beautiful sunset over the water just steps from out room. The location was fantastic.
