Great location and great hotel.

As a seasoned traveller it is hard not to be cynical when you see that all the reviews are 5.0 and make wonderful comments about the hotel but we booked anyway and soon understood why the reviews were so good. Everything including the rooms, the location and the comfort was excellent but it was the friendly service that made it so special. We were initially disappointed when we arrived with heavy luggage and were faced with a flight of stairs but before we could put our foot on the bottom step two members of staff were there to carry them for us (they monitor the entrance on CCTV and actually watch it). That level of service was to continue throughout our stay - recommending and booking excellent restaurants, advising about and booking tickets for museums etc etc. Nothing was too much. We would recommend it to anyone - it is also superbly located and very reasonably priced. .

We loved this hotel. It is conveniently located near all of the major sights on a not too busy street. It's on the second floor, with two flights of stairs, in a restored palazzo. Our room was very comfortable; the a/c worked, and the staff was welcoming and accommodating. Buffet breakfast was excellent, with a full array of bread, fruit, hard-boiled eggs, breakfast meats, and cereal. We heartily recommend the dei Macchaioli!

From the moment we arrived when the receptionist greeted us by name to our time of departure, our stay at the Hotel dei Macchiaioli was a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Having arrived from Rome, where he had mixed experiences, all of the staff here were friendly and went well beyond the call of duty to be helpful. The location of the hotel is perfect, very close to the Duomo, with a range of excellent restaurants within a stone's throw. The hotel has been recently reburbished and is comfortably furnished, and the decor is a delightful mix of period with modern bathroom fittings. A small hotel, it has a friendly and welcoming feel, and has free wireless internet in rooms. With many reports of expensive and average accommodation in a very touristy city, it was a joy to find somewhere that was such a gem!

We stayed only 2 nights, but this was the best Hotel of the whole trip. It must have been recently renovated as it was in a reaaly good shape. Everything is well decorated and spreads a nice charm. The room we had was quite big with even a little balcony. The staff was very nice and helpful as well. Breakfast is on a good italien level in a very nice room with lots of ceiling paintings. The Hotel is situated only a 10 minute walk from the train station and basically evrything can be reached quickly by foot. Overall a very good Hotel that we can very much recommend.
