The Portland Arms - كامبريدج

Title says it all. You get what you pay for. The service was very friendly and accommodating, room was comfortable albeit a little noisy due to traffic but we did have window open for fresh air. I would recommend this if you are just staying overnight in Cambridge and want somewhere cheap within easy reach of the city centre. Certainly fitted our needs. Wasn't taken with the shared bathroom but we did know about that up front and still went ahead.

Basic accommodating requiring extra cost for soap etc. Toilet seat broken.

A room above a pub certainly negates the need of a designated driver, but a room, however comfortable, should rate no more than two stars when there is no private bath.

In a nutshell we got there early and no one was able to get us the key to our room so had to come back later! Then there was loud noise from the pub till the early hours

It's above a pub, so don't expect much quiet before 12. But it's warm and well kept and good for the price.

the pictures on hotels.com were misleading. the bed linen smelt like it had just been sprayed with febreeze, had to share a shower and bathroom. very disappointed. stayed in much better accomodation for less money.

Great place for student/young travelierson a budget. Not at all great for adults. Room is just barely fine, but access, amentities, ambiance, etc. are for partyinmg kids, not adults.

There was some n major reconstruction of the garden going on which ended at 11.30 pm and started at 7am in the morning. Honestly, I do not understand why this hotel took bookings for this reconstruction period. Total waste of money..

Friendly, helpful staff, good vegetarian meals. Room was basic but fine for the price. Overnight parking not straightforward in immediate vicinity - in the end I paid to park at a nearby pub. Plenty of other pubs nearby, and only 15 min walk to lots of pubs and restaurants. Would stay again.

We did not stay after all, sadly we did not feel too comfortable there. Would have preferred it if the main door had a lock on it, only the room had a lock. A party with lots of people shouting, was just at the bottom of the stairs. Bad choice, will be more selective next time. I really did not want to waste the money spent on this. I can normally find something positive from a place, this time the lady who showed us to the room was very pleasant, not much more I could say.

Loud and noisy and full of smokers

Pub still open until 1am, then other guests woke us up coming up the metal staircase at 3am! Location ok - not that central, cheap and clean, but small, have to share bathroom, breakfast not included

The Portland arms is a lovely, well located hotel with three rooms about it sharing a bathroom. Although we selected it knowing it had a shared bathroom and it was a cheap room we were a little disappointed with the room. The decor didn't do it any justice, it was very noisy in the morning with doors slamming and the staircase squeaking and the shower was practically unusable due to it being so hot and unadjustable. All in all I would say a good choice if on a very tight budget. Otherwise spend a little more

The place is much better than how it looks in the photos. Everything was clean, the people were incredibly friendly. It's a little bit of a walk from the town center, but it gives you a chance to walk past the river. Lovely place, will be staying again.

Superb value and a friendly welcome, basic bed for the night, very comfortable, with a Whetherspoons over the road for a super breakfast. Would use again if I were to stay in Cambridge.

Friendly service, clean rooms. very well positioned for all the must see sights. Was unaware that it was a shared bathroom but as there are only 3 rooms this was not a problem. Would and am planning to stay again.

Enjoyed the bustle and musical entertainment and the beer was well-kept and courteously pulled. Didn't sample the food but it looked good coming from kitchen. Bar staff friendly and helpful with car parking suggestion though no parking owned by the pub. Lots of on street spaces nearby. Reasonable rate and suited my purpose ideally. Bathroom no en suite but good supply of hot water.

Although central, cheap, clean and comfortable the rooms are above the pub which is noisy at night and we didn't realise that the bathrooms were shared before arriving. Still a very pleasant stay.

Stay in this hotel for 1 day. I think it is clean and in reasonable price.Very good location, only ten minutes walk from city centre

Please know that you are staying right above not just a pub, but a "pub and live music venue." We stayed during the week, which I thought would be fairly quiet, but there were three nights of loud live music (out of four total). Things did quiet down though by 11:30 so it was fine. Very friendly staff and we enjoyed staying there. Would be nice if the room had had a bedside lamp for reading by and if the dusting were a bit more thorough.

Stayed here for one night while visiting my old college. Very central location, short walk to the centre of the city and the river. Found a spot to park for free on the street nearby. There is one bathroom to share, but there are only two or three rooms so this wasn't a problem. I got back to my room late, so the pub was already closed so I didn't hear any noise. For the location, its very reasonably prices and a comfortable, clean room.

This hotel is perfect for its quality/price ratio. The only thing was that we went to Cambridge to do an exam and the night before it was Friday which meant a lot of noise in the pub downstairs. The other downside is that there was a shared bathroom for all rooms. Apart from that it was placed well in Cambridge and although there was a 10 minute walk to the City Center, it was through the marvellous gardens of Cambridge.

The room was really small and had no heat. It was surprisingly quite for being above a pub. The food was incredible. The prices were great for the food, and it tasted great too. Overall, it's a pretty good place to crash.

Make sure to bring your industrial-strength ear plugs, eyeshades, and maybe your own pillow . Do not bring children and if you have any trouble with heights or stairs, forget it. Otherwise, the place filled my need for a central Cambridge place to lay my head that wouldn't cost arms and legs. There was good heat in the room, the shower and WC were modern, and the TV worked.

It's very simple but good value for the price. Was clean, quiet and easy to find.

Do not recommend it.

Beware that the entrance to the rooms is up a fire escape and is not easy if you have luggage. Very noisy due to live music.

Our room was clean,however the bathroom was dirty and shabby so we avoided showering as we werent satisfied with the cleanliness.

This is actually three hotel rooms with a shared bathroom.

Simple but cosy rooms that have everything you need: coffee making facilities, little mirror, good lighting, small tv. Bathroom not on suite but just outside and equally well appointed. Nice decor throughout. Only thing is, noise is a bit of an issue: Bed very creaky - you'd possibly wake each other up when turning over. Room door is also very creaky plus you have to slam the bathroom door to shut it so when going to the toilet at night I woke up people in the next room (there are 3 rooms in total). Plus my room had a view over the Portland Arms pub's beer garden which was very pretty but also very noisy. The windows ARE effective at shutting out most of the noise and I slept well - with ear plugs and the windows shut. Because there's only one bathroom for potentially 6 guests, queuing for the shower was also a bit of an issue. Overall though great for the price: a very charming place with super friendly, accommodating staff. Nice walk over the Green to get into the city centre (10-15 min on foot). I'd definitely recommend the Inn for an inexpensive no-frills stay in beautiful Cambridge.

This inn was in a nice location reasonably close to the town and very close to the river and a park. It felt very safe and was in a very pretty space. There are also some shops nearby including a somewhat overpriced co-op and a boots, and we would often have breakfast at a really nice cafe we found there. The inn was very nice and welcoming. The room was quite small but it was comfortable and the TV had freeview! The bathroom is shared and so could sometimes be a bit messy and you could end up waiting for ages if someone is particuarly enjoying their shower, but there isn't anything the owners could really do about that! Live music is frequent at the inn. In our case this was really good as we enjoyed the variety and liked seeing the band. From our room the music could be heard really quite clearly - again, this was okay for us as we enjoyed the music but if you hate noise this might be a problem for you! The inn served food. We didn't actually try any of it but there seemed to be a good variety. They don't do breakfasts but there is a nice little cafe nearby which does great full english breakfasts, and the pub across the road does them too.

With hotels, as with most things in life, you get what you pay for. As my room for the night at the Portland Arms was not expensive, I wasn't expecting five star luxury. As it was, I got a warm welcome, a clean room, and access to a functioning bathroom (shared, but, as I was the only guest, effectively en suite), which was precisely what I did expect. In other words, I'd be exaggerating to say it was a memorable stay, but fine for my purposes, and perfectly good value for money.

Mysigt boende ovanpå en pub. Tre rum för uthyrning, så ingen risk för långa duschköer!

Det er tæt på Jesus Park og Cambridge Centrum. Men vores værelse var ikke specielt rent eller stort. Pubben er hyggelig, men standarden på værelserne er ikke høj. Dele badeværelset er ok.

Las habitaciones están encima de pub con conciertos por lo que hay mucho ruido hasta las 11:30 que es cuando acaba la música.

Het verblijf was ok. locatie wat goed, het personeel aardig. Maar douche en WC op de gang is niet zo prettig. Kamer was niet super schoon (bv: stof en een gebruikte koffiemok op de kast).

Både bo ostört och festa på rummet utan att någon hör eller bryr sig, gångavstånd till stan/klubbarna. Floden 100 m från hotellet. Riktigt kul resa!

La situación no es muy céntrica, pero en 15 min caminando te plantas en el centro histórico de Cambridge. El staff es bastante amable. Lo más negativo y para lo que hay que ir preparado es que al ser un pub el nivel de ruido nocturno es insoportable, de hecho nuestra habitación (solo había 3) estaba justo encima del patio donde la gente salía a fumar, si bien el pub cierra sobre las 00.30 por lo que a partir de esa hora el nivel de ruido se reduce considerablemente. La habitacion era correcta por el precio que pagamos y también comimos un mediodía y hacen unas hamburguesas fantasticas, no dejeis de pedir curly fries!

Chambre à la décoration récente, personnel agréable et serviable, près de l'Université de Cambridge. Esprit rock mais pas de nuisance si ce n'est un peu le bruit des voitures. Wc et douche sur le palier juste en face de la chambre et très propre

Das Zimmer war ein bisschen kalt. Kein eigenes Badezimmer und geteilte Dusche. Ansonsten gut.
