I chose this hotel because I wanted to be in a more remote countryside location. This place did not dissapoint. We had a beautiful view from our room and the breakfast room. It was also not too far away from some small towns for food and activities. The room was comfortable and clean though the bed was a little too soft for us. With the exception of that, everything else was wonderful. The breakfast was also very good and they had options. Something I was very apreciative for as the full English breakfast is a bit heavy for me in the morning. Owners were very nice and helpful with great suggestions for food and driving directions. Would recomend this location to others and we plan to stay here again.

Where do I start with this place. Great B&B tucked into the rolling hills of the Lake District. It is about a mile or so away from Ambleside on a small country road. My wife and I loved this place. We got the Garden room, which is a seperate building away from the main house. Would deffinatley reccomend this B&B to anyone looking for a great place to stay in the Lake District. It is quiet and the owners are great. It is only a short drive to Ambleside, where you can eat dinner, shop, and set off on some of the famous day hikes. We liked being away from the town. Just a little drive and you're there. Greta place.

Hotel was very clean and in a quiet country location. Great views from the front of the hotel. Service was very good and the breakfast excellent. only stayed one night but would reccomend it to anyone.

Cannot fault the hotel at all, just a little difficult to find.But had a great stay.

Was reasonable. Nice location. We stayed in the Garden Room - which is a wood cabin away from the property. Nice to be in a private location but may not be everyones cup of tea. Staff quite friendly. 4pm check in was a bit tricky

Wonderful - We stayed in the barn suite which was beautifully decorated & had a large heavenly bed! Very quiet location which was perfect for us. Breakfast served in the room. Would definitely stay there again & recommend it.

Brilliant stay at this secluded B&B. The garden room we booked is actually a chalet at the top of the garden, totally private and really comfortable. Due to the rest of the B&B being full we were served breakfast in the room. Stunning views, friendly hosts, brilliant walks. Would definitely return.

After spending time in the busy cities, it was a relief to be out in the quiet country. We reserved the Garden Room, which is actually a separate little cottage away from the main house. This means there's no WiFi in the room, but in exchange there's privacy and space. The cottage has a sitting room in addition to the bedroom and bath. The owners were very nice and helpful when we had a family emergency. Be sure to get driving directions from the hotel's web site; "Outgate" isn't enough to get you there.

Excellent B & B would recommend to one and all. Idyllic location and excellent service from our hosts.

Excellent in every way

We really enjoyed our stay here - our room was newly decorated, and more stylish than the average B&B. It's located in the countryside, so very peaceful and quiet, but still close to villages and pubs for dinner. The owners were very friendly, and breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended!

The setting is beautiful and the amenities are up-to-date. The barn suite is worth booking. The view from the B&B was perfect. Ideal place for the Lake District.

Stayed just for one Saturday night in January 2012. Welcoming host, lovely, fresh, clean room (we had the room on the front left corner as you look at the building so had two windows). The views are stunning, we were greeted by a lovely sunrise the following morning. Went to the Drunken Duck which we thought was a little pricy but this proved irrelevant as they were booked up and couldn't take us. Had a look round Hawkshead but most of the pubs seemed to be full of people watching football which wasn't what we were looking for so we went to Ambleside. Breakfast was great, freshly cooked and served quickly. Just one or two negative points: The sitting room with a fire was only open until 22:30. Although we didnt need it, the 'rule' just seemed a little bit unnecessary and might just come across negatively to some. Breakfast would only be served between 09:00 and 09:30. Fine for us but a little restrictive. Our room was cold in the evening even with the rad valve fully open. We mentioned this to the lady on the way out and when we came back it was nice and warm! Overall, well recommended, lovely and quiet, very clean and well decorated and a great breakfast!

Lovely b&b, exactly as advertised, friendly staff and lovely clean room with amazing views. Would defintley stay again.

Uistekende B&B met gastvrij onthaal. Goede adviezen voor wandelroutes gekregen. Prachtige ligging, mooi uitzicht. Ontbijt ook goed voor elkaar en goede eetgelegenheden op korte afstand.

Das High Grassings B&B ist in einem sanierten Landhaus und liebevoll eingerichteten Gästezimmern und Wohnbereichen untergebracht. Das Gebäude ist alleinstehend in sehr ruhiger Lage an einem Hang gelegen. Die Straße ist einspurig und wird kaum befahren. Parkplätze sind vorhanden. Das B&B verfügt über einen sehr schönen, gepflegten Garten und erlaubt einen fantastischen Ausblick über eine hügelige Weidelandschaft und zum Teil auf die Seenplatte des Nationalparks. Unser Zimmer und Bad waren sehr sauber. Die Einrichtung war stilvoll und hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Der Inhaber hat ein umfangreiches, exzellentes Frühstück zubereitet. Der Inhaber ist sehr freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit. Ungefragt hat er uns ausführliche Ratschläge für Restaurants und Sehenswürdigkeiten in der Umgebung gegeben. Aufgrund seiner Lage eignet sich das B&B gut, um den Lake District Nationalpark zu besichtigen oder als Übernachtung auf dem Weg von London nach Schottland. Schwierigkeiten hatten wir allein bei der Anfahrt zum B&B, da es sich außerhalb der Ortschaft Outgate befindet. Es empfielt sich daher bei der Anreise zu dem Restaurant/Hotel The Drunken Duck zu fahren. An der Straßenkreuzung, an dem das Hotel liegt, ist die Straße („Skinner How Ln“) nach Westen (Richtung „Hawkshead“) zu nehmen. Das B&B ist 0,9 Meilen entfernt und kann rechterhand nicht verfehlt werden. Atmosphäre, die Qualität und die Lage des B&B sind sehr gut. Ich werde dieses B&B äußerst gern wieder besuchen.
