After a long but beautiful drive, this was a lovely surprise. Check out the route you will take if you are in a rush as sat nav took me the scenic way!Room recently done to a very good standard. Bar meal great. Only sad thing was that i was working, as i was tempted to put on my walking boots and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

There's a very high standard on offer here with a superb, alebit a bit isolated location; highly recommended.

Great place to stay from which to exlore parts of the Western lakes. Bedroom was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious. Would go again.

We loved our stay at Irton Hall. It is in a countryside location away from the major centres of the Lake District. There is a road connecting Ambleside with Holmrook, however be warned that if there has been a lot of snow this road may be closed - which is what happened during our visit - so we had to take a more scenic route. This didn;t really matter to us because we saw some amazing scenery and fells on our alternative route, but it probably took almost an hour from the main centres of Lake District. Not sure how often this direct route is closed, we were probably just unlucky and I suspect it is not closed very often. Our room at Irton Hall was luxurious, king sized comfortable bed, nice bath, very clean and comfortable. The building is very nice and surrounding countryside quite beautiful.

Nice hotel, looks good as you drive up, room very nice especially the massive bed and bathroom. Bar/restaurant isnt very big and there not really any other places to eat/drink within reasonable distance. Dont expect to be able to stay here longer than a night or two really. Mega roads around though :)

We had a great time, superb rooms, great food and good fun in the bar, well trained and atentive staff,looking forward to finding a reason to return

The stay was a very comfortable and relaxing time in great surroundings and somewhere I would recommend

This is the third time i have booked this hotel for business and i have enjoyed my stay each time. 4 stars as can be slightly noisy in the night and the jet bath didnt work.Location is great (although dont use a sat nav to get there!) setting is beautiful and staff are good!

All staff really friendly the hotel was very clean and will stay again

Everything was excellent. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Room fantastic with a spa bath. Bed very comfortable with a great nights sleep. Bar / Restaurant excellent, well priced and great food. Excellent breakfast. Would recommend very highly. Slight drawback is the location as it is a long way from anywhere but this can be an advantage for some.

Really of the beaten track,beautifull hills and waterfalls.The only downside was the drive in and out of The village, not for the faint hearted.I would return tomorrow.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and the room i stayed in was comfortable and very spacious.

Irton Hall is a beautiful place to stay in a beautiful location. We stayed for one night as part of a short walking break. The staff were very friendly and attentive, both in the evening and at breakfast next morning. The bar is pub-like in atmosphere, with real ales and good quality, good value pub-style food in generous portions. The breakfast the next morning was also very good. We stayed in a deluxe room, which was a bit on the small side but on the plus side it had excellent storage and wardrobe space. The bathroom was very good, with an excellent shower and jacuzzi bath (which was a delight!). It is important to remember that this is not a hotel, but high-quality self-catering and B&B accommodation. There are plans for a restaurant, but these are stuck in our wonderful planning system apparently!

Stayed for 2 nights in August. A lovely mansion house which is perfectly presented. Very clean ground, both outside and in. The rooms were large with lovely large en suite bathrooms with whirlpool baths. I-Pod docking and free wi-fi. Bar whch serves nice food and reasonably priced. This hotel is slightly off the beaten track and use of a vehicle is essential, but the surrounding area is so peaceful, that I could not lodge this as a negative. The staff were very freindly and helpful. would certainly recommend this hotel. First class.

Had a lovely 2 night stay. Stayed in a superior double room with great view over frount grounds, room was spacious and very clean. The bathroom was spotless and the jacuzzi bath was a lovely touch. Full English breakfast which was exellent. The Bar was reasonably priced and did some generously sized meals, eating was nice and informal as there's not a restaurant. Staff were very friendly and pleasant. The only problem was finding the hotel as it's not clearly signed from the main road and then when we arrived there wasnt a sign for the Reception area either. Enjoyed the stay and would return.

Staff so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Great stay with kids, plenty of space for them to run about. Food excellent. Felt with chilled out and relax. Loved it so much we are booking again for next year! Really recommend it.

En route to the hotel the sat nav packed up, which didn't help at all. However, this isn't such a bad thing as the postcode is nowhere near the hotel! Print off your own maps before you setoff! When arrived, the hotel had received no booking and all the B&B rooms were full. However, going above and beyond, the staff put us in the "house" next door which normally sleeps 9! Fantastic place, clean, quiet, good food, good bar, definitely thinking of going back for longer.

Hotel is nice but food service was dissapointing. Initially had trouble finding the place as we relied on Sat Nav based on the hotels postcode and this led us to an Outwood Bound Centre some 3km away. Room was smaller than expected but nice decor and view. Fridge present in room but only stocked water - a few drinks would have been nice. We ventured to the bar to order order which was eaten within same location. Food was very dissapointing and both dishes ordered Salmon & Lamb were well below decent quality standard expected with lamb being extremelyfatty and dry salmon being served without a sauce. Atmosphere was missing and although a great location and good views and satisfactory room - we probably wouldn't stay there again.

My partner and I had a very good weekend at the Hall. Really enjoyed being there and walking round the South West Fells. Recommend that you try it.
