Apa Kabar Villas - Tulamben

Absolutely nothing good to say about it! We had a room on the side of a really noisy street, and the bathroom which is open air (just walls, no ceiling) has a door to the bedroom that does not lock, and there is no safety box in the bedroom! I felt really unsafe, someone from the street could have jumped over the wall and into our bathroom and walked into the room. The hotel ground is very dark and needs serious maintenance. The room could only be locked after a "trick" that the staff showed us as she figured it out! Restaurant was dirty and not tasty, poor customer service all around, and the list goes on :(

We loved our stay in Apa Kabar. The staff was really helpful and friendly and although we were the only guests at the time, good service was always available. All the villas and cottages except the 3-bedroom villa and one cottage, are in a row facing the sea. The Palm trees and the ones with beautiful flowers make some nice shade to the garden and pool. You can easily walk to the beach for a swim or to walk, but remember to have some shoes as it is a stoney beach. Sometimes the waves can be quite big and you can also hear them inside the cottage, as well as the frogs and gekkos etc. But in Bali you can't hide them! The food in restaurant was really really good and the price almost as low what we could find elsewhere so we ate here everyday except one. I would say Apa Kabar is one of the finest hotels in Amed, but for what it costs, they should be able to do some small investments as fixing the showers or the roof fan (makes too much noise) and cleaning properly the kitchenette in the bigger villa. The internet and credit card connection didn't work during our 4-night-stay, and we had to pay in cash. If you are travelling in a low season you might get a better offer straight from the hotel. I would recommend this hotel very much!
