The first room we were offered had 2 Velux Windows only one of which had a blind. We were then offered another room in which the bed was pushed up against the wall meaning one person would have to climb over another. Both these rooms smelt of stale smoke and the second dark and uninviting. We had requested a non smoking room. After another visit to reception we were given an update to a room which was fine. We find it difficult to understand when areas of the hotel such as reception and the dining room are done to a high standard why guests are offered rooms such as those offered to us which let the hotel down. However after a bad start we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast offered a wide choice and the hotel staff were excellent

Starting with the positive - great, central location, can explore sights on foot, good eateries nearby. Reception staff - good, helpful, efficient. The negative - a major, if not the determining factor contributing to satisfaction with a hotel is quality of sleep matched with price paid. On arrival, we paid for upgrade to an executive room, which got the balance right, perfect. We had 1 night's good sleep. On the next day, we were informed by letter that due to an external factor, the air-con would cease to work. We had chosen a hotel with air-con, given the hot early summer heat - 30C almost everyday. There was only offer of extra water, no refund of extra price paid, or free breakfast, fans for the room etc. We wanted to cancel the last 2 nights and move to another hotel with working air-con. However, we were advised that suites on the top floor have working air-con and we would be further upgraded at no extra charge. We packed and moved into new room, which had powerful air-con, perfect amenities, great size but later in the night, discovered that there was a randomly occurring very loud 'boom' buzz sound lasting around 5 seconds. This occurred through the night on an average of about every 15 minutes. Ear plugs didn't work, no-one can sleep through this noise. I reported this noise after the second night to hotel staff, but suspecting it was the lift motor, nothing was or could be done about it. So, we had terrible 2 nights' sleep. Don't book a suite on top floor!

Me and a friend stayed for 3 nights in December. The staff were very helpful with handy tips/answered all our questions. The hotel was clean, and quiet at night. It is a minutes walk away from one of the main Christmas markets and an easy walk to sites like museum quarter and the natural history museum. We paid €16 each for the buffet breakfast one day, which had a good selection but not sure it's worth €16. The only downsides of our trip were the room kept getting overheated, and we had to turn the radiator off and open the window each night. On checking out the staff booked a taxi for us to the train station, I told them it was Wein Mitte train station, and again told the taxi driver, but the taxi took us to the wrong train station! And said the hotel staff told him that one. He then took us to the correct station, and we ran to catch our train with a minute spare!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable, clean and tidy and the cleaning lady did an excellent job each day. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The only thing that would have improved our stay would have been a queen bed as originally requested but we ended up in a twin room, with beds pushed together, which was ok but not ideal but a small matter really as we requested a room with a bath and guess this was prioritised over the type of bed/s. If you're partial to a cup of tea, take your own tea-bags! Would definitely stay here again in the future when we return.

I booked this hotel last minute as the Airbnb I was staying in was not up to standard. I’m so glad I booked this hotel! I was able to check in early and the room was spacious and very clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and the aircon worked very well! I even got a special gift of coconut and rum balls from the staff for my good review of the hotel check in on Expedia! All in all I recommend this hotel to people staying in Vienna.
