Hotel stay

Room was lovely but view was poor, should of paid extra for room with a view. We were in the lower basement with an immediate view of a wall and ivy. Good selection for breakfast but fried eggs extremely poor even asked for freshly cooked egg but still like rubber. Spa area was tired and towela provided were thin and rough. We wouldnt stay again.

Wedding Weekend

Booked as attending a wedding locally. The staff were friendly, breakfast was excellent. The option to check in earlier than 3pm would have been good as we had to change in a disabled toilet. Main negative was it was noisy, woken several times by other guests talking, very squeaky floor boards above us and the continual droning of A/C fans. Not helped with no double glazing, just an old sash window in the room.

The hotel was happy to help

We did have a problem with the wi fi, so we asked if we could be moved. That was not a problem and we moved rooms. The room was very clean and tidy. The only thing needing u dating was the bath and shower screen.

Good value

Easy check in / out. Tired in places, has spa services a lot of people seemed to be on a spa deal. Breakfast and all staff encountered were very good. Free parking always a bonus.

Good location but condition of hotel is average

Great location but the hotel seriously needs some TLC to justify as 4* as far as I am concerned. Basically the hotel is in nice buildings and nice grounds, but it needs an end-to-end makeover. A thorough repainting would be a start, and the condition of the bath was quite poor for such a hotel. A shame as it could be a very nice hotel.

2 night break

Booked in for 2 nights just for a short break away first room we were in could not get wi fi as promised so moved to a new room next day found a pair of pants on floor by radiator and water bottle had been opened and not replaced staff on main desk very helpful breakfast was very nice though had a bit of a wait 2nd day as it was very busy could not get in

Had better 3-stars

A pleasant hotel in good surroundings, but you are definitely paying for the Hilton brand as opposed to anything overly special about the hotel... Cramped "spa" area, broken room thermostat, tv from the early 00s, failed taxi booking after request (meaning almost lost dinner table) and MY GOD PLEASE invest in making the paper-thin room-connecting doors more soundproof! (hearing a tea being stirred was the least of our troubles...) Nice breakfast and cosy bar areas tho :)
