John was a great host. Furnishings are very nice and Very eclectic. We enjoyed the breakfast and interacting with the other guests and John. John gave us lots of ideas about where to go and what to do and we followed almost all his advice.

lovely stay

We had a memorable and wonderful stay—with a delicious morning breakfast. The host was so welcoming and helpful and my daughter and I really enjoyed chatting with him about the history of Troy and the beautiful house. We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back some day. It was perfect for us. Thanks!

Really great quirky decor. Breakfast was delicious and our host was delightful company! The bathroom was huge and a pleasure to shower in. Bed was super comfortable.

My daughter and I stayed here for a visit to RPI. John was a wonderful host. The house is great, our room was warm and cozy on a cold snowy night, and we were very comfortable. My daughter loved the old books and all of antiques. When I was about to go to sleep John let me know he saw the dome light in my car on. I went down in my PJs, and he took my keys and turned off the light for me. I was so grateful he noticed and let me know, having a dead battery in the morning would have be terrible. Breakfast was delicious, and John had the perfect balance of letting us talk and eat, but answering questions and chatting when we were done. Visiting schools can be stressful, but our stay here made me feel as though we were on vacation. If my daughter chooses RPI this will always be our home base when we visit!

Exceptional! Best experience on the East coast. I felt like sleeping at a museum (the place can definitely complete with Versailles in terms of taste and design). Clean, 6 star hotel quality cotton sheets and extremely fluffy towels. Shower heads are large enough to make you have a decent hot shower! John is very charismatic and loves what he does. I am definitely coming back to Troy just for this place.
