The noise in the room from the wind did not let me sleep

Good hotel on the beachfront. The view was a disappointment looking at the back of another building. Good size room, comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Guest services were quick with replenishment towels and toiletries. Breakfast was good. Overall Covid-19 management was very good.

This was the first hotel I've stayed in since COVID so was unsure how they would work but as Expedia explained 'Contactless checkin' - I was very disappointed. The check in took a long time with repeated signatures and having to get close to other people. There was no caring about handling items from their part. Once we got to our family room at 7pm, there was only one bed and we had to make up the sofa bed ourselves. I then had to go request bedding which took a while to arrive and again, they helped themselves to walking in to our room rather than knocking. The excuse given was that they 'were busy'. The room was nice and quiet and clean. They provide additional cleaning wipes in the room. You have to book breakfast time on arrival but there is little point as you queue for a long time to get in to breakfast, then queue in a small space with a lot of other people to first get continental breakfast and then hot food which is served for you. The staff were friendly but rushed. We were told we could only have the table for 30 minutes but took us over 15 minutes to get food in a non socially distanced area. Most of the hand sanitisers around were either empty or broken. We tried to book a slot for the pool but were told there were none. It would have been helpful to have information before to be able to book these sorts of things. It was in a good location with lots of food places around and the i360 opposite. It was busy being half term but still a pleasant stay.

First room had a significant leak in the bathroom - requested change Second room - very small, scruffy - requested change 3rd room nice size, OK Swimming Pool not available - all spaces booked despite choosing hotel and checking by phone that their pool, stream etc were open and told to book slot on arrival. Steam room Sauna & Jacuzzi not operational. After a 15 minutes 'heated discussion' managed to get a space for the pool. Wind knocked out TV aerial Saturday evening - No TV/radio reception. No maintenance available until Sunday (Bar closed at 22:00). On arriving for Breakfast told 40 minutes only allowed. Spent 15 minutes of that queuing - after a queue to get into dining room.

I was very disappointed with the room. We looked onto another building! The room was far too hot. It didn't have very good lighting probably because we were so close to the other building! So, putting make up on or doing your hair wasn't easy. Bathroom was small and the sink tap was wobbley! It wasn't what I was expecting at all! I've actually had better more spacious rooms in a Premiere Inn and Travel Lodge. The saying 'you get what you pay for' isn't correct in this case. However, the dining room was very nice as was the entrance hall and stair cases.

Staff are very friendly and helpful from check in, through to dining, bar, breakfast and housekeeping. We have stayed at many hotels in Brighton over the years and this is the best by far.

Run down hotel, Overated it should be 2 stars (not 4)

Nice hotel, great location. Only issue was the bed was really soft and so were the pillows! Some people would love that but were used to a firmer bed and firmer pillows! We opted for a king room and it was nice but basic. Giant shower head was lovely and the room was really clean.
