A distinctly three star experience

Overall not a bad experience, unfortunately not exactly as good as we were expecting from the reviews and the claim of being a four star hotel. Beautiful property, lovely location and helpful front desk staff. I have never been to a hotel that provides shampoo but not conditioner..... and after requesting conditioner we received 4 extra bottles of shampoo, but no conditioner, with no explanation. Soap and body wash was sadly not up to 4 star standard, unfortunately and had to actually request clean towels after our dirty towels were taken away but not replaced. Breakfast was not the worst I've experienced, but out of ten it would be a three and dining room staff seems to be a bit tired and unhappy, not exactly a welcoming atmosphere, but that said, they did do the job fine enough. All that said, I do realize this is a beach hotel so the main draw is the outdoors, but I do think for the size and status the hotel claims, it was a bit of a disappointment overall. The shower and sink did not drain properly so water pooled everywhere and the walls of the room were paper thin so we were constantly faced with loud neighbors which was a bit unreasonable and unexpected. Best features were the view of the sea and the location, but perhaps a two or three star rating would be more believable for the price and quality of experience.

I stayed in room 415 right next to leisure centre very handy for swimming, lovely lady working there. The bed was amazing comfortable. Disappointed with room view, side alley. Views from communal areas really brilliant. Breakfast delicious and staff very helpful

Galway Bay excellent, from booking to check in by klaudia so friendly and understanding as my son has Autism and waiting is a big no for him . Anna in the leisure centre helped us with everything...

friendly staff, Cery's at reception really helpful and so was the other members that i met. Really nicely warmed pool, what a treat. Decor is slightly dated, but location was great not too near the strip but also walkable. Walking on the prom was refereshing despite the wind. We had breakfast at the different cafe's along the prom

Tired decor

Disappointing stay in the Galway Bay. Given a room on 1st floor which overlooked the car park from both windows. Room was very tired and could do with upgrading and ensuring that fixtures were secured properly. Heating was on but could not be regulated from room except to turn it off completely. Had requested a sea view but did not get and was not given an explanation. When checking in was requested if I wanted to pay now, had to inform reception that the room was already paid for. Was glad that we were only staying one night, the room would not entice you to stay for longer.
