Pleasantly Surprised

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at Ibis Eaglehawk. From past stays at Ibis hotels my expectations were quite low on arrival so we were happy to have those expectations well surpassed. Our family room was spacious and complete with full sized bathroom and kitchenette. The beds were extremely comfortable and clean and warm, so much so that we missed breakfast due to us all sleeping in!. The airconditioning kept the chill off the air for our stay and the bathroom toiletries were more than generous with enough fluffy large bath towels for the whole family.

I liked the late check in. I did find it hard to find the block where my room was. Id recommend better signes on the road so you can see the block numbers at night. The signs indicating the room numbers were good once you got out of the car and walked around.

Not enough staff. They had 50 check ins so decided not to service the rooms of people already staying there. Have a bar but the alcohol is off. Maybe a smaller selection that is turned over mor frequently would be a better option

We arrived at 9pm after 12 hours of driving. We called in advance to let you know that we had been stuck driving in a sever weather cell. A lovely woman answered the phone who was reassuring that we had plenty of time to check and pleaded with us to drive safely On our arrival we were greeted by a very warm and friendly man who stated “I see there is a problem with your booking. You’ve booked a delux room but they’re are 6 of you”. It is observed that Wotif sold us something unavailable. He went out of his way to accommodate our needs. The staff as I’ve experienced in all other ibis accommodation are lovely. The rooms however… The stench of black mould and dirty, sweaty feet is breath taking. The cutlery was filthy and covered with dead bugs and food. Above every bed is someone’s snots. The walls are filthy, unfinished tiles in the bathroom that is likely the cause of the stench, a fan that sounds like a helicopter is about to land, mouldy sinking roof next to a wet light that’s constantly flickering. Let alone the state of the kitchen benches and holes around electrical switches etc. green mouldy windows and curtains We’ve just come from living in an old farm so I can assure you that we’ve personally dealt and lived with our fair share of dust, mould and rough people but do you think this is good enough for a family in holiday? We sent an email with pics and no response
