Comfortable and Happy

Our stay was nice. The room was very clean, nice space for a family of 4. The beds were very comfortable. Location was in downtown area, having access to restaurants and shopping centers.

Some issues

The breakfast is a no go until they go back to the Buffett. The food isn’t good and the man that helps is rude. The front desk staff are very helpful and nice. The rooms are no longer cleaned during your stay, so if you need anything you have to ask. There were not enough towels in our room and we needed to change the bedding during our stay. I asked the housekeeper for these items and when I asked for the bedding she gave me some of it. When I again asked for the items needed she threw her hands in the air and walked away into a hotel room. The other housekeeper that was in the hallway was very nice and came over to give me the needed items.

Hotel service was excellent , hotels.com was not so good as they sent me an email saying i could check in @10:00 am but they were able to get me in around 12:30 ish

Fortress Hill House

It’s an older hotel that has been kept up well and has 3 separate buildings spread out in a “compound” formation. This includes a security fence surrounding the property which does not have a walking entrance. If you’re walking anywhere, you’ll need to walk out of the front entrance which sounds nice from a security standpoint, but makes you question your choice of location for your stay.

Great spot to rest your head

As soon as we arrived, the desk clerk was super friendly and kind and welcoming. The mattress and pillows had that extra cush, floating on a cloud feeling, we slept good! We had No problem dozing off. The hotel was very clean and the surrounding mill creek area was very pretty with the canals and bridges. Breakfast was delish as well.

Some perks

In all honesty,the hotel could use some TLC. The glass doors to the lobby, restaurant, and separate building where the rooms are were dirty. The carpet up the stairs was dirty-and usually is when we go. The rooms, however, are clean and the a/c works great which is a must for Bakersfield. The grabngo breakfast is good also!

Bakersfield Best Western

This was just an average stay. The hotel needs some upgrading. However, it was clean, and the room was comfortable.
