My stay at the Super 8 hotel

The room was clean and smell good unlike the entrance and the hallway...the carpet in the hallway needs to be replace then it would be an excellent place to stay

The hotel was disgusting and smelled horrible. The linens, bedding, pillows and rugs was stained and filthy. My son cut his finger on a broken crack pipe which was in the bathroom sink. I did not stay in this hotel and left 4 hours after checking in. The board of health should pay a visit to this hotel.

I have stayed at the Super 8 by Wyndham in Latham, NY, several times and have enjoyed my stay each time. You can’t beat the price and it meets my needs for a convenient and pleasant place to stay. This time, however, I was alarmed to find that the outside door leading directly up the stairs to my room was NOT kept locked. Anyone coming in from the street would have had direct access to my door and would have bypassed the surveillance of the person at the front desk. When I asked about this I was told that so many people forget their access card that a decision was made to leave the door open. Not a good decision! My other concern was environmental. I think that the practice of giving guests the option of continuing to use yesterday’s towels and washcloths, just as they would at home, is a good one. A sign in the room instructs guests to leave towels on the bathroom floor or in the bathtub if they want a fresh towel replacement. I left my towels on the towel rack but found that they were changed anyway. I’m sure that the person cleaning my room was trying to give me extra nice service ( I really do appreciate thought) but my first concern is for the environment and I would have preferred to re-use my towels. I find that many personnel in other hotels change towels daily despite a notice to guests describing an enlightened environmental policy. I wish for better environmental training of hotel personnel

Staff was nice. Didn't like that the sheets were too small for the bed so couldn't be tucked, had to request shampoo, and part of the coffee maker was missing so it couldn't be used.

For the most part the cleanliness was good except for the towels were stained kinda grossed me out. There was NO breakfast at all, they said due to Covid there would be bag breakfast to go however there was nothing. The coffee station in the room had two of each regular and decaf coffee however only one sugar packet. I was a little disappointed as the first time I stayed during Covid it was much better and cost less.

No one present at desk to check in.Waited 5 minutes and then a phone rang to tell me that someone would be out in "4 or 5 minutes." The entire lobby reaked of ethnic food, I assumed the checkin clerk was in the middle of supper. Room just OK. No coffee or teabags for coffee maker. One tiny shampoo bottle for 2 people. Very noisy. Felt like I was in a college dorm. Lots of slamming doors. Reaked of smoke even with hallway windows wide open, clearly a security issue.Would not stay here again.

The rear door to the building is unsecured. Meaning entry is open. The usual extra lock on room door was gone/broken. The reception area ones not inspire confidence as the plexiglass divider had a large crack as if hit. I parked my car near my window , worried for its security. I chose the king suite as it was suggested for more amenities. Suite is a misnomer. It is one room with a king bed, which was poorly made. $102 was much too much for a sleepless night. The receptionist were nice and polite but I think the owners are in over their heads.

It's a place to stay

I stay in the area often when I am solo in between weekend ski destinations. I am not looking for much since all I am going to do is crash, but this place will not be my first choice. There are better places with better amenities that are cheaper. Better amenities include a better bed with a fridge and microwave in the room that is also much quieter.
