Awesome hotel!

Comfortable and clean. Friendly staff and reception was very helpful when we needed a frying pan! Have stayed here before and will stay again!

Good central location. Clean property Stunning views Warm, with good aircon and opening windows / doors Parking was limited, having to park elsewhere for a couple of hours until a parking spot was free which was “reserved”

This property is obviously being used for emergency accommodation. We received an email telling us where and how to park at the car parking building near the hotel. We followed the instructions to the letter. When we arrived to check in we were told we needed to move our vehicle because other guests were using those spots long term. We were still charged $35 and certainly no apology for the inconvenience of having to go straight back and move it. Some rather unpleasant scenes greeted us when we first arrived at the hotel including people sprawled out in the entrance and sitting outside on the steps of the entrance eating meals. It was more reminiscent of a hostel than serviced apartments or a hotel. We also felt unsafe, on our way back from dinner there were some guests screaming at each other and having a physical altercation outside the hotel. The road works out front are a nightmare. It’s noisy and the rooms look nothing like the photos. We will not be staying there again. I have never written a review for a hotel before. But I felt I needed to this time. We were really, really disappointed.

The water for the showers were cold and only a trickle. We were moved to a better room after getting in the very cold shower and letting staff know there was no hot water. Slowed our evening down a bit. The second room was great thanks.

Great Location

Barclay suites are in a great location. An easy walk to Sky City, Queen Street and Britomart. The rooms are spacious and clean. Will stay again.
