What can we say about Hotel Mamede Estoril? Ahead of the President's speech to the nation, hotel reception staff started to tell us that a state of emergency was coming and we would have to leave. The manager shrugged when we asked him what we were supposed to do for our last two paid nights. That evening, we spent the evening in our room, expecting a knock on the door and eviction. The following day got worse as staff were jittery but took our transport booking (and money) for our journey the following day to the airport. Believing that all was finally settled for the last night of our holiday, we relaxed a bit and went for lunch in Caiscais. Towards the end of lunch, I received a phone call from the receptionist telling us that the hotel would be shutting at 4pm so we needed to come and collect our things. What followed made Fawlty Towers look professional. I went to pack while my husband, who speaks fluent Portuguese, talked to the manager and reception staff who told him that they were moving everybody out. My husband said that they needed to find us alternative accommodation for our last night and that they couldn't just put us out on the street. The manager told someone at the desk to call the police but one receptionist called another hotel, made a booking and they agreed that they would pay for it. We spent our final night at another hotel five minutes away by taxi where they had put in place sensible provisions for social distancing and sanitisers.

Good location outside the centre of Lisbon near by a selection of lovely beaches and a short scenic beach walk to Cascais. Ideal for friends, families, couples and solo travellers. Local shops, cafes, restaurants and entertainment close by. Great transport network to and from Lisbon, Cascais and Sintra. Overall a fun relaxing holiday in the sunshine with the occasional touristy sightseeing bits. We may be back again.

In a good location close to bus stops and railway station. The rooms are basic but comfortable mattress. Drainage a bit slow in the bath and sink plug not working by lever. Not many spare socket for power so had to remove lamp plugs to charge phone when lighting not brilliant in the main room. Good, Basuc, Clean. Good continental breakfast. No Tea/Coffee making facilities in the room. Has a bar which is good for a night cap. OVERALL A GOOD BUDGET HOTEL

This property is on a very busy street close to the casino. The train tracks are dicrectly behind the building, and the beach is behind the tracks. The hotel itself was clean with appealing decor in the first level reception area. Check in was simple amd hassle free. The room was basic: a bed, night stand, desk, closet (with full length mirrors!) and your standard batnroom amentities. Despite the traffic outside the window and the location of the train tracks, it was actually very quiet at night. The bed was comfortable. Parking is a nightmare. The hotel doesnt have a designated parking lot, so you have to pay to park during certain hours in public lots or, there is a small area across the street that offers free parking. Only problem with the free parking is that its public, so you have to get lucky to find a spot as theres maybe 15 available total. The breakfast was included in our stay and was your basic hotel breakfast: breads, cereal, coffee, fruit, milk, juice, etc. Nice added bonus.

Better than we expected for the price. We would stay here again on our next trip to Portugal. The staff were pleasant and helpful and to our surprise breakfast was included each morning and the room was serviced each day. However there is no safe in the rooms only at the front desk.

The staff are so faciliating and made the stay very comfortable. Only fault is that the Wi-Fi is terrible!
