I have stayed at the H several times - here are my highlights: Clean rooms with basic amenities - conveniently located right next to the railroad station and bus transportation hub in Luebeck. Large parking lot in the back - parking on designated spots is free for guests. Staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a small bar / dining area with a breakfast buffet - however, the railroad station that is literally 2 minutes away has two bakery shops that offer a large variety of bread rolls, sandwiches, and coffee. A small supermarket/convenience store is also located inside the railroad station and is open until 10 pm - they have a large variety of food/snacks/beverages/alcoholic beverages. The sauna in the hotel can be used but an appointment is needed.

Nice hotel close to city centre. Room was small, but breakfast excellent plus free parking and nice staff. Good choice.

Im Alten Zollen - the icing on the cake

The type of hotel that you after a week you forget what the room looked like, as there was nothing special. It follows the current trend of 'funks' (functional) over spacious. Not my cup of tea really, and the view from the window of a sort of building site and railway line was not exactly inspiring. Car park looked organised but several drug addicts and drunks around the nearby train station does not inspire confidence especially if you have quite a nice car. Police presence was two vans outside the train station which was a sign that the area could be a bit rough. The city itself is pretty and worth a visit, however, do not eat in the tourist traps by the river/canal. They was over-priced and poor quality. I just got up and left after one bite of a rubbery schnitzel. Found a lovely place though, from the 12th century. The name Im Alten Zollin. GO THERE! Save money. The staff are friendly, even if stressed, and quite happy to tell you about the history of the building and paintings. Full of locals too which is fantastic! Great food, good prices and a terrific find. Loved Lübeck even more for that.

Good value and service

Hotel is in a great central location. Was on the top floor next to the train station yet very quiet. Room was clean and had good amenities. Bar fridge was just an empty fridge. Breakfast was decent with good selection of foods. Staff friendly, helpful and professional. Not enough parking but the lot next door was just €4 a day so not bad. Overall a pleasant stay and would stay again.

Disappointing

The hotel had a very slow check-in. Water was provided for 1 night only. The room was TINY. Cleaning people came into the room without even knocking. It was a disappointing stay and definitely no more than 3 stars overall.
