Beautiful place to stay, highly recommended

Stayed for 2 nights including a retirement dinner with work colleagues and had an excellent time. I’ll definitely be back.

Brillant stay , very good hotel , from Tom on reception, very welcoming,polite and courteous , through to Brent who hosted my evening meal outdoors due to distancing, chatty , well informed and a mention must good to the quality and level of food , cooked by Murray , beautifully presented and very very tasty , yes i will be staying again mb

We did not get the Suite with spa bath on our arrival as per our booking. The staff were very pleasant but had to provide us with an alternative less adequate room for our first night. We are still awaiting a response from senior staff with regards to this. (We sent an email on our return). The rooms were ok, a few furnishings a little dated. Planned a meal in the onsite restaurant in the evening having looked at the menu at breakfast, to then be told when we arrived for our meal the restaurant was closed for a private function. The staff were apologetic and accommodate us eating in the bar. A fantastic location.

Great atmosphere, fabulously welcoming yet professional staff that were beyond helpful. The place has managed to keep the character and “feel” of a Victorian house yet runs as a modern hotel. We’ll go back for sure.

Our two night stay was really excellent in every way, from the friendly and helpful reception staff as well as at the Milton restaurant to the staff responsible for the light refreshments following our family funeral. Our double room was recently refurbished to a high standard and it's encouraging to know that this imposing building is currently refurbishing and up-grading its rooms without impairing on the true character of Cantley House. The breakfast was also excellent. We shall certainly return here.

Stayed for an event; event room, the Briar was cold; checked into our room in the evening and radiator was off; turned it on but nothing happened; broken!. Was told we couldn't eat in the restaurant as it was catering for a private function and we should walk into town; after complaining they relented and allowed us to order from/eat in the bar - food arrived about an hour later and was tasty. Breakfast in the morning served in restaurant; heated by portable oil-filled rads; needless to say room was cold; buffet breakfast served on cold plates; most staff friendly but let down by poor management; seems like the owners are struggling and the place has seen better days. Complained to receptionist upon leaving whose picture is probably under 'dis-interested' in the dictionary. Cant recommend.

Furniture in the room very crumbly. Mattress worn out - have me backache. Tv not working. Reception didn’t answer phone. Room freezing cold. All in all a terrible night. Won’t be back.
