It was the dumpiest place we have ever stayed. The burlap curtains were ripped. The room was not maintained or kept up.

This hotel has a lot of potential, the owner was super nice and helpful. The service was most excellent. I do not know if this a new owner taking over de management of the hotel or what, but our room was very far from being clean. Rollers of dust everywhere, dust on most wall trims the sink was not properly clean with nails cutoff all around. Bed and shower were perfect.

The building has a lot of charm but isn't a great state of repair. We changed rooms on arrival because the first room we saw was very dark. The second room (room 13) was much better but in the evening, we discovered that of nine light bulbs in the room, five did not work. Of course, by then reception was closed so we had a dark evening. We reported this next morning and they apologized, but it seemed symptomatic of the rest of the property.

It has a nice courtyard in back and the owners were pleasant. However, our room was the smallest I have ever stayed in and was not well equipped. There were no outlets/plugs in the bathroom and no chairs to sit in the room. No air conditioning and no screens on the windows in our room - it was stuffy. The hallways on the second floor need better lighting. Breakfast was good, but limited selection. We would stay here again, but definitely not in the same room.

We made one call to ask for a blanket, on a chilly night and got no response. And was never informed that the property is next to a outdoor bar that plays loud music till late in the night. Ps I’m in a rock band but it would have been nice if they put that on their web site.

property is historical which is neat, but understand it is historical. Kept very clean. Hostess is very accomodating and helpful. Cooked to order free breakfast was nice touch and very good. Especially omelet. Fresh coffee & bottled water always available free. Room was small, but again historical and water was hot for shower. We stayed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. So here is the bad, unless you like loud music from the bar from about 8pm to 12 midnight and join in. Thursday night we enjoyed as sort of folk songs, but Friday and Saturday was just poor noise. Parking is off street behind hotel which is good. However you must be parked before the bar opens as no available parking until after bar closes. Everything is walking distance so location is perfect. I can not comment on Sunday nights through Wednesday nights or even during those days as was not staying those days. Again about hostess, was very good & friendly & helpful and even left donuts & coffee for us since we were departing before kitchen opened on Sunday am. Also on Thursday we late checked in by earlier phone call & hostess set up our key for late arrival after office closed at 5pm. Note that office is a 9am to 5pm. Stay felt like a bed & breakfast rather than hotel.

The "historic" property was in dire need of some "tender loving care". Staff was not around at 4:30pm when we arrived; a unknown person was sleeping in the dayroom with their backpack belongings being used as a pillow; the shower curtain had black mold; painting of the deck blocked emergency exits; workers promptly started work at 6:30 am directly outside our room window; the "private" parking lot was filled with non-residents, forcing parking to be streets away; the breakfasts were very sub-par.

Friendly staff! Charming place in a great location. Wonderful breakfast. Have stayed there twice while visiting one of our favorite towns in the US.
