Unusual

Although I booked a room at Kyriad (one day before my stay) when we arrived the hotel was closed and no one was there. I called from outside and the call was forwarded to a hotel across the street. They told me to come there because Kyriad is closed on the weekends. After a glitch with being given a key to an occupied room, we were given a room that was empty and clean. The staff was extremely nice, helpful and friendly. The rest of our stay went very well! But this was the staff at the Golden Tulip, the hotel that we stayed at instead of the Kyriad as planned.

The Kyriad was closed for Jan 2 booking and we were transferred over to the Tulip which was an upgrade and excellent. So I cannot evaluate the Kyriad

The Kyriad was taken over by the police for a training exercise so we were transferred to the Golden Tulip across the street. It was all done without a problem and the Tulip was very nice, new and modern. There is a restaurant and the food is very good. Nearest other place to eat is 1.2 km away. Only stayed one night before returning to US.

Very Frustrating

The hotel I booked didn’t have any attendants in the lobby. A police officer there told me I had to check in across the street at a property called the Golden Tulip. When I got there, they only had one of my rooms reserved so had to set me up for another room. I was traveling with 2 others and asked about beds (having one or two per room). I was told both had 2 twin beds and both were by the back elevator. So after hauling our luggage down one wing and up stairs, we could only find one of the rooms. I had to go back down and was told the other room was down a completely separate wing. So 2 of us lugged everything over to the second room only to find it was a single bed room. I went back again and was told that was all they had to for the third time I lugged my stuff back up and stay in the first room. I was also told I could get a shuttle from the airport back to the hotel when I turned in my rental car, but no one came to pick me up. Then, because they are not near any restaurants, they are the only place to get food, they sent up the wrong order. Service was awful.

Actually at the time of this stay, the entire hotel was shutdown because of not enough staff to run it and, I suppose, the sister hotel across the road. So we stayed at the Golden Tulip. Pleasant and fresh looking lobby. Decent room. The staff was very accommodating. They were able to heat dome items we purchased before the flight. You can ring the hotel for transport from the airport. In our case, the front desk had no one available to pick us up at the time we arrived but offered a reimbursement (must be approved by hotel first). Very quiet night of sleeping. Although there was a kettle for heating water, there was no coffee. We recommend for overnight stay

Excellent service excellent room

I booked the Kyriad but was told it was closed when I got to the airport and I was put in The Golden Tulip instead. The staff were lovely and the room was great. I cannot recommend them enough.

Win some, lose some

It’s difficult to give a single ‘number’ or comment that equates to our experience at the hotel... It is superbly placed near to Marseille airport and is clean, spacious and well appointed with a garden/terrace and swimming pool. We were very happy with the reception staff who were friendly, polite and very helpful. We did not, though have such a good experience dining there. Food quality was good although we had a long wait before we were served and before food arrived. We asked 3 times for a carafe of water. When my dessert arrived (a cheese platter) it was without bread and I had to wait 20 minutes whilst bread was ‘cooked’. Clearly it needed defrosting and ‘baking’ in the microwave. When we left at 05h the following day, there was no shuttle for the airport as the drinker from the previous night had taken the keys to the minibus taxi home with him. After an anxious wait of 20 minutes the breakfast chef took us to the airport in his car
