You got your money worth and the jacuzzi were really nice and pool area. There was a nice hike around the property in the woods.

This hotel is close enough to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve that you can walk there from the hotel. The staff were pleasant and provided efficient service. A great place to stay.

The rooms and hotel demonstrated on Expedia is NOT what they put us in upon check in. We ended up staying in an old, poorly renovated concrete and wooden structure (instead of the large two story concrete hotel in the photos on the listing). The room was full of ants and smelled terribly of floor wax and cleaning products. Every time the wind blew it sounded like the roof was going to blow off and you can see daylight between the old walls and the “new” wooden additional walls. Had we known the poor quality of the room we would be staying in we would have never made the reservation, especially for the high price; we feel very deceived. Food was good at breakfast and staff was very friendly otherwise.

Property is run down, but prices are extra premium for the area. They want to force you to book activities with only limited vendors, guaranteeing that you pay twice the price for the same activities. Food costs on the property are way too high, and simply going downtown gets better food at 1/3 the price.

The staff is amazing! They always remembered my name and room number and were available for any questions…even when I was out and about, I could send a WhatsApp message to Jocelyn and she would reply promptly. Very beautiful property; great view for sunsets. The restaurant and taverna staff were traffic, too! The location is great—an easy, 20 minute walk up the hill to the cloud forest preserve. Would definitely stay at Fondavela again!

I loved that it was hidden in the mountains. It was very open and peaceful. We could hear the nature and rain at night and also the food and drinks there were great.

Very pretty and close to the park. Monteverde is unlike anywhere else in Costa Rica with gorgeous hanging bridges, but bring warm clothes because it is seriously cold! The rooms in the hotel don’t have any heat and they’re really big, so you will have a hard time staying warm. We left a day early because it was so freezing and headed to Jaco. The hotel itself was great and so was the staff.

Wonderful private hotel just minutes from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. The rooms were huge with wonderful views of the property. Meals were great along with service. Thank you!
