The only problem we had was the bathrooms for the cabin we stayed in had no soap, toilet paper or papertowels for the 2 days we were there.

Good staff and location, otherwise unimpressive

The front desk employees were nice and the woman in the gift shop (I believe her name is Janeth) was amazing. The rooms were also fairly clean and looked nice, and there is obviously a lot of great history in the lodge. That being said, the overall stay was below expectations. The hotel does claim to be a one-star, but the ratings were still high, so I expected a fairly pleasant stay. First, the price was well above 3-4 star hotels, with none of the amenities provided, even with taking into account the location. Second, the doors and walls were so thin that people simply walking past your room was quite loud, and any movement from adjacent rooms was completely audible. Additionally, at least one door into the hotel did not work with the key card. Lastly, the hotels.com listing indicated that breakfast was provided, and the staff seemed to indicate that this was true, though it was never explicitly stated. Instead, we ended up having to pay for breakfast, and the food was subpar. Overall, we appreciated the people and the location, but not the price and structure of the hotel. Would not recommend that others stay here, but would recommend them walking through and reading about the history of the place.

Biggest complaint is the communication between their restaurant and the hotel. We were driving 8 hours and decided we should make sure the restaurant was going to be open when we arrived. We called the number with our reservation which was a call center, they said sorry reservations only. Ok let’s make a reservation? “Oh we can not do that” ok transfer us to who can? “We can’t do that, here’s the number”. Call number,” sorry it is reservations only” perfect we would like to make a reservation. “Oh we can’t do that, here’s the number… the first number we started with. Asked to be transferred to someone else. Can we make a reservation? “No we don’t take reservations it’s first come first serve.” After all that upon arrival, Hotels first impression was amazing. Finally got up to our room after a long drive and the room was half cleaned. Facial hair trimmings in the sink. Pea and Pubic hair all over the toilet. Counters and tables all still dirty. Trash cans were still full and all the soaps and cups had not been replaced. Went down got a new room and after first inspection it was clean but found a lot of items over looked or just not done at all. The staff was very friendly and the hotels charm is great. I would recommend their house keeping be a little stricter. Lastly they should note that after certain dates that some routes to their hotel are closed as we were not warned that all ways thru the south and west entrances from the park are closed. Making the drive very long!

Excellent stay! The hotel is very spacious and clean! The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are large! No TV (fyi) but it wasn’t needed. The restaurant is not open at all hours so plan accordingly. Highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking to stay in the park!

Weekend history lesson

The Mammoth Hotel was warm and inviting from the time we pulled up to the time we left. The front desk staff was amazing and helpful. The room had cozy yet historic feel. Walking around this historic hotel with my family was an amazing experience. The Map Room is a must see. Take some time to sit down to play some checkers!!

Spacious and clean

Hotel room was very clean and spacious. Bathroom was spotless and huge! We were surprised about the lack of TV’s, but it was okay with us. The hallways were very wide. Hotel was solidly built and very well maintained

The park was turning off the lights in Yellowstone park that weekend. Every restaurant was closed. It was a real drag.
